I'd been wanting to start reading Fraction's Iron Man run, looks like I may start next month with #500. I've got the omnibus and need to catch up on the 2 arcs up to that, but it'll do. :woot:

Also, a Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.

Ahaha, that's hilarious. A merry christmas to you as well, Spidey.

When you see Kraven, GG, Venom Vulture, and Doc Ock entering a childrens hospital...last thing you are thinking about is having a merry Christmas.

But super villains are really just a bunch of big softies.

Maybe then they will have Bullseye come back from the dead and play darts with some clinically ill children too?

I would really hate to see how he would do that. :csad:

I would probably guess he would line the children up from tallest to smallest and then take use of the hospital needles. :-x

I don't know if anyone here still follows the Ultimate Universe, but Doc Ock just made his return in the Doom Trilogy as the man behind the Roxxon's Brain Trust, which is part of the Spider-Man's part of that event.

Say hello to Daddy, Jessica :

His face by Rafa Sandoval reminds me more of 616 that in his other depictions. He also seems shorter. I like it.

More reason to stop following the Ultimate universe anymore. I liked the old Ultimate version better, when he was in shape, stronger and had a more bullying approach. Seeming him like his 616 version is just whatever...

Why those pictures, Chris:huh:?

I don't think Octavius' strength was ever that great in the Ultimate Universe, he mainly used his tentacles, as usual.
Also, you could only go so far with a revengeful Doc Ock, at one point he was going to use his brains in his plans. He started with the Clone Saga, and now it seems that he's really the one in charge.

I actually was reading Fractions run on Iron Man about a year ago, but i had to cut dow on some titles. I'm only reading a few titles such as all Spider-man related (no USM), Avengers, etc.

So my wife got me the new Heroclix Doctor Octopus figure and I gotta say, it's sweet. At 121 points, they gave Ock some killer abilities (Outwit, Perplex 4 times each turn to modify combat values). The sculpt is quality, but the paint job not so much. All in all, though, I'm looking forward to using him in a Heroclix game.

I dropped USM after the Death of the Goblins arc. Is it any good these days?

Btw who is Jessica?

That's so cool that your wife got it for you. I like when the missus nourishes their partner's geeky side :cwink:

I like it. The Ultimatum tie-in was fun but the Venom story was disjointed and really only served to bring back Gwen.
The first arc of the relaunch is kind of slow because Bendis is introducing the new status quo, but the second arc (Chameleon) was really good, and Bendis is now introducing a new way of doing things, with Peter being overlooked by SHIELD more than he was before, and a big event coming up that will focus on Peter. And there is of course the Doom Trilogy, in which Doc Ock just made his return to the stories after Ultimatum.

Jessica is Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman, one of the two clones of Peter that survived the Clone Saga. Doc Ock 'created' her and her fellow clones.

Thanks dude. I think I'm going to have to pick this up. The Ockneto thing aside, Bendis does write an amazing Doc Ock.

On a another topic, I got Season 1 and 2 of the Spider-Man Animated series on DVD as an Xmas prezzie. I have to say, it is really good, better than I remembered. And Ock is great in these two seasons. It's in Season 3 onward where he, and every other villain, seem to be consistently tied to the Kingpin in some way!!!

His intro episode is undoubtedly his best one. Peter being a student of his at Science Camp was a great angle, and they actually used it in the episode and subsequent episodes, instead of just making it a contrived pointless plot device. Another thing they nailed was Ock's arrogant attitude. Especially when dealing with Spidey:

"You really think your spider powers can compare with the shattering impact of my unbreakable hydraulic tentacles?"

"Your pathetic acrobatics are no threat to me"

Peter: "Dr Octavius, you've been paid. Now release Felicia and Mr Jameson"
Ock: "Release them? Don't insult my intelligence!"

The Insidious Six two parter in season 2 was great. When all the others were keen to join Kingpin's Six, Ock abstained. Kingpin had to bribe him to join:

Ock: "I am no petty hireling. I am a scientist"
Kingpin: "I can provide you with the finest laboratory in the world, and with unlimited resources"

But his insults of The Scorpion were my favorites, particularly:

Scorpion: "Make way for the Scorpion"
Ock: "Back off, you pea brained, un co-oridinated, absurdly dressed excuse for a man!"

Hi guys ;)
I'm new :)

Doc Ock is one of the best chracters in Marvel history =)
Alfred Molina did a great job playing him.
