World Electro's Lighthouse

:) I was hopeing if I looked around for a little bit, I'd find what I was looking for. I really love Electro as a villian, as well as his backstory; to me he seems to be more dangerous for being a team player (as many times as he's been on the Sinister Six, etc), as he can adapt to any situation with a flick of the wrist.

Sadly, I don't have any scans to offer right now (I do have a clean version of Electro-cuted! from my calendar I want to scan, but I have to pull it from my wall), but I'm just happy to find this thread. It's added to my Electro collection quite a bit.

Ooooo, I *want* to see more of those DD scans! Beautiful! I know what you mean, though: I'm dying to scan that Spidey-Batman crossover I have, but the covers are card-stock, and to scan would mean creasing the book. :(

I don't know how people can look at something like that and then say "Electro would be boring to see onscreen," but it takes all kinds to make a world.

Instead they're gonna be looking at "twin" Venom. Hope they're happy.

I HAVE to track that arc down, my Electro collection is nothing without is :(

I may not be able to scan more of DD: Yellow, but I scan scan some of the AWESOME art I found in my recent purchase of Spider-man's Tangled Web 10 (also a card cover but lucky, one of the best picture is on the left) oh and this is the full page incase you're wondering.

Stunning... simply stunning.

Tangled Web #10 is great! I -love- that book; that story and "Open All Night" are truly fabulous reads - loved them both.

I'd personally love to have seen Electro on the big-screen before Venom; more because I'd rather explore the older rouge's gallery before getting into the symbiotes (as much fun as they are as well :)). If they really wanted to play with CGs, then how about an electrical storm atop Lady Liberty? Or just some sparks between fingers when flexing? At least it looks good in my mind; I've never found anyone I'd think of to play Electro, though, probably because I don't keep up too much on actors. :D

 That'd be sweet. You've just made me long for Electro on the screen even more.

Damn you Movie Dr Doom for stealing Electro's powers. How long do we have to wait until Max is up on the big screen? :(

Movie!Doom was jealous, secretly, he really wanted the costume too, just knew it wouldn't fill out right on him. ;) I hope we do get to see him on the big screen soon, I'm just terrified on who the might get to play him. :( I'm kind of picky, I suppose.

So, I finally got down to scanning my 2005 calendar, and since I introduced Carange as Mister April, this makes Max Mr. August? Sure. :)

I'm not sure why, but this is one of my favorite images of Electro and Spidey facing (it stayed August in my room for about two months). Which issues had David Finch drawing Electro? If they're back-issues, I want to try to get my hands on them.

Finch drew Electro in the first two [?] issues of New Avengers, or as we snarky, biased and irreverant types like to call it, Nude Avengers. So called because the Avengers do actually get naked in it. True! Naked and hung upside-down.

In fact, I think I got a few of those bad-boys from N.A. #1 still stashed in my comics folder, let me see what I can do.... [vanishes for a bit]

Our story so far: having just drained almost all the power from Manhattan, Electro [hired by a minor-league villain named Sauron (was it actually Sauron?) at the behest of yet a third party] repairs to the Raft, a detention-facility designed especially for paranormal criminals, and does....THIS:

Now THAT, I call a splash-page. Wow.

Don't go all hog-wild and start thinking that Sparky is returning to form in a way you simply can't miss, though - like I did. I was so happy to see Electro back! This awesome villain and his mind-boggling powers were going to get a long-deserved spot in the limelight; and I was loving every second of it.

In the very next issue, Bendis has him fainting dead away at the mere sight of Luke Cage, that [expletive deleted.] It was a very sad denoument to a great start - and just one more reason good reason to loathe Bendis: he cheated Electro of what should have been his. Respect.

First Carnage, now this. Great work, Bendis. You rock.

....I..WOW...I am now in need of those issues. *saves* This shall hold me over until then. Except, wow Bendis, that's rather a low blow; I understand that Max is supposed to have some self-confidence issues and such, of course, not to the point like Shocker where it's actually wrote as a weakness, but... :( In those splashes he looked like he was back on the ball, and getting somewhere. *sighs* I'd give Electro a hug, but I'm pretty sure he'd toast me. :O

I doubt he would fry you, Max is hardly impervious to feminine charms. :) He's very human in that respect. In fact, they're what leads to his downfall in this title. I won't spoil that for you since you haven't already read it... and I could accept what happened, but the fainting thing on top of that was just too much.

Seriously not-cool of Bendis to treat him so.

As for movie-version Doom "stealing" Max's powers, bah. Does that even count? Did that movie do that well? I'd bet at least half of the potential audience hasn't even seen F4. I certainly haven't.

Gotta chance then. ;) :D *laughs* Thanks for the hint, it makes me more excited than before to get it. I just can't think of him fainting to anyone just by looking at him, no matter how strong they might be. I think I might just ignore those pages and just drool over the art pages of Max in glory.

I didn't sit in the theaters for F4 for the simple reasons that when I was Jessica Alba as Sue...yeah, I went the other way. I don't like her very well as an actress (I didn't really enjoy her as Nancy in Sin City, but I still went), and being utterly confused by the commercials never showing Mr. Fantastic's powers, I decided I'd just wait.

Ha ha. Yeah, NA's issue 1 was astounding, that amazing slapsh page with the explosion at Rykers... and then Bendis goes and screws up. Luke Cage wouldn't have a chance against him. Horrible shot at comedy there Bendis

Check out the 1st page of this thread for more of that amazing art from Finch

I'm not sure why, though I have a very good idea, but they seem to think of Electro as a comical relief failure than a threat, despite the fact that his power, should he find the confidence and as he put it "the creativity" to use it properly, would be devistating. Most of the time it's because of the costume, I think, since it's so flamboyant (one of those, you either love it, or you hate it). I might be biased though. ;)

And now, to go searching through the past for more collection material. Thanks.

Gorgeous! Dodson artwork! I remember having that picture as my desktop for the longest time. I collected the first three arcs of Marvel Knight for the sole purpose of enjoying the art; I really love the way he draws Electro and Norman. Coupled with Rachel's inking.... *sighs* :)

Astounding work by Dodson there ... now I'm in the mood to scan more parts of the fight...

This just in from scanning town...

^^^ Ow :D

Those Marvel Knights Spider-Man issue really showed how Electro can be a thorn in Spidey's side.

It's about the only good thing that came from that series.

There was lots of good thins that came out of tha run from Millar and Dodson. It was the best Spider-Man book at the time.

Like what??

Scorpom?? Eddie Brock slitting his wrists?? Fing Fang Foom fetish suggestions for Electro?? Ock being brainwashed to kill Norman Osborn?? A cop out for a GG Vs Ock battle?? Norman Osborn being the mastermind for the 98857465th time??

No Marvel Knights didn't offer much at all, except for Electro being shown as a bad ass,and getting to fry Black Crappy.

Best thing about the 1st 12 issues was the artwork. Dodson & Cho did a great job in that department. Story wise it was very 'meh', IMO.
