Hey! Give the slobbering maniac his due. He's more dangerous to Spider-Man than Doc Ock. Doc Ock is more dangerous to the world, however. The difference is that Venom knows Parker's identity and can block his spider-sense. If Doc Ock could do those things, he'd take first prize.

He's sure as hell not dead, though. There's no hard evidence of that, and even hard evidence gets reversed in comic books, so it's a safe bet he's not dead.

In all fairness, yes. Spidey is just barely a physical match for Venom; the only reason he triumphs is because he's smarter than Brock.

Ock is a challenge on a whole different level. I don't think one can fairly compare the two at all. Ock is powerful but is on a completely different level of menace.

Thought I'd post a few pages (not the whole story) from one of Ock's arcs in SSM.I chose a scene where Ock mercilessly murders three thugs who foolishly try to to mug him:

I just finished reading the first USM Ock arc, and it is unparalleled in everything up to it in USM so far. I love how Ock's eyes are ruined. My only questions about the arc:
Eddie Brock is a reporter in it. o.o
I sort of thought Ock looked cooler with tentacles coming out of his back. And, do they have infinite length or what because they sure as hell go long distances?
And, Spidey broke off one of Ock's tentacles at the end of their fight. (For what reason I have no clue, Ock was already down.) But how did he get it back when he was in Shield Custody? I doubt they'd repair it for him, it's a weapon. Unless you take it in context of the Ultimate Six.

I've never been able to explain that Eddie Brock thing.I bet it was just a teasing tactic by Bendis to the Venom fans.

As for the repair to Ock's tentacle.If you remember they are like his flesh and blood arms in terms of feelings.Whenever they got damaged in 616 I saw Ock react in extreme pain as if they were his own flesh and blood arms that were injured.

So I assume they repaired it as they would a severed limb to relieve a possible pain he may have been suffering.If you read Ultimate Six,by then they had successfully managed to surgically remove them from him and were keen to understand how they worked,as they present great possibilites for the disabled among other scientific things.

Btw I do prefer Ock's tentacles coming from his back or sides,but the front is cool too.Good different.

Ultimate Otto Octavius was working at Oscorp as Norman's chief scientist.Together they were developing the OZ formula,a type of super soldier formula.When Peter was bitten by the spider,and Octavius stole a blood sample from him and tested it,he and Norman saw the wonderful abilities it bestowed on Peter.

So Norman decided to test the OZ formula on himself with Otto's help.The experiment goes horribly wrong and in that same accident Osborn became Green Goblin and Octavius' arms become fused to his body.

We next see Octavius several months later in a coma in SHIELD where he revives.He learns he has suffered severe optical trauma.He can't take bright lights.Also his mechanical arms have become fused to his body and locked into his central nervous system.They react to his thoughts.

Otto becomes severely pissed when he learns the SHIELD scientists could have removed the arms but decided not to,to see what would happen in the interests of science.He murders several of the scientists and escapes.

We then learn Octavius had been an industrial spy for Justin Hammer when he was working in Oscorp.Ock thinks that Hammer shafted him and had tried to have him killed.So Ock goes on a vendetta against Hammer,destroying his new energy dome power plant and exposing his illegal genetic mutations to the media.And of course Spider-Man is caught right in the cross fire,with SHIELD also hunting Ock as well.

That's pretty much Ultimate Ock's story.He managed to kill Justin Hammer thru a heart attack by tossing his limo around like a tin can.

Ult Ock is the ultimate bad ass.By far the best Ult Spider-Man villain IMO.Whether he's beating Spidey to a pulp,upgrading his tentacles with bullets,flamethrowers and electricity,fooling SHIELD scientists into thinking he's reformed and then murdering them,attacking the White House with his fellow rogues like GG,Sandman,Electro and Kraven,or best of all kidnapping Peter and ripping his tooth out.

He just plain rocks

The only other issue I have with Ock is his muscles. I mean, he's pretty buff for a scientist. But hey, that doesn't mean he can't work out. I'm pretty tough for a geek myself. And yeah, I totally agree with you Doc Ock, USM made me see the light about Ock in general, even in 616 I respect him far more now. He's a character that's almost never been butchered, if that's even possible. And with the tentacles coming from the front, it may actually make him more deadly since they don't have to reach around him, but it reduces mobility.

That is true,and I am very greatful for that.There's nothing worse than a write handling a character he or she hates,a character you happen to love.Ock has had a couple of crappy arcs from the 80's.And I wasn't too fond of the mini 'Out of reach' that came out last year.

The story had potential,but alas it was not executed right.

After SM-2 came out I saw and read some crazy stuff on the net regarding Ock.Most of it was great stuff.Especially Miss S' stuff

To be honest...I really, really hate the concept of a rape fic. Yeah, it's fiction, that's fine and all...but they seem to be just for people to fantasize about...and a lot of people have been personally destroyed by rape, so I mean, it's alright to fantasize about it, but to be so outspoken is just really disrespectful to those of us who have suffered.
