No, I'm lucky in that regard. My mom's a hardcore fan. When I was a kid she would read my comics when I was through with them. Actually, she did it when I was an adult, too. She's also read pretty much all of my superhero novels.
My father, on the other hand, thinks that Superman is the only comics hero to be taken seriously, once asked me if Spider-Man was like Batman (i.e., no powers) & still thinks that the 60's TV show is the true interpretation of Batman.
Then there's my aunt, who made the notion of mechanical webshooters sound so absurd, when I mentioned the controversy over them going organic in the movies. "Where are they supposed to come from, the suit?" I explained in detail how he makes webbing in the comics, & she replied: "So they come from his suit?" I explained again. "So in other words, the webs come from his suit." The more she said it, the more ridiculous it sounded.

At least they sat down and gave them a chance. My parents would never sit down and watch a comic book movie. But they are both well aware of who Spidey Doc Ock, Joker, Batman etc are.

But that's mainly because of me watching them

My dad only knows his name. My mom, I believe, knows atleast a little bit about him. I had her take me to the movie when it came out, so she had better know him.

I gotta agree there. I was amazed when they saw Spidey 2 when they were on vacation. I never mentioned the movie to them or asked them to see it and they did it of their own free will.

Yes, both my parents watched the 1st film, and I doubt that they still know who Green Goblin is. And my brother and I watched the 90s cartoon as a kid, I think they both know who Doc Ock and Venom is but I doubt it. My mom probably knows. However, they do know who Joker is, oddly enough. And once I sat down and watched Spider-Man 2, my mom watched the beginning a litte bit and she was complaining that it was funny. She later left and then came back only to take over the TV. My brother however, he watched all 3 Spider-Man films and he likes them. He knows alot of Spider-Man characters like MJ, Aunt May, Gobby, Ock, Venom, Kingpin, Hobgoblin and Mysterio. But he only knows Joker from Batman. But then again we watched the 90s cartoon me and my brother when we were kids so I think that's why he knows a couple of Spider-Man characters.
