Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 2

You know, I'd be curious to see Tom Cruise as Stephen Strange.
I would too. I think Reeves is the most interesting suggestion I've heard since Phoenix but I know Cruise could do something with it too if he wanted.

Yup! I'd be behind Cruise for this... I have liked/loved him in most everything I've seen him in.

*tiny voice* even though I disliked Edge of Tomorrow... Don't hate!

Farell is a good actor, he was easily the best thing about Daredevil. Don't know if I'd want him as Strange though, but I could live with it.
Don't think I'd care for Cruise either, that doesn't sit well with me. Never loved him in anything except Tropic Thunder. But I could maybe grit my teeth and bare it, there are worse options.
I'm personally still all about Jared Leto. I think he would bring a lot of buzz to this.

I have no doubt about Tom Cruise's ability to play the role, but I'm just not a fan.

@Nokio

It's weird to think that Reeves would be the oldest actor cast as one of the main heroes. But if he keeps injecting himself with baby blood as he must have been doing for quite some time now then he won't show his age even when's he's 60.

You have a point but I think Reeves looks his age, well a little younger but the man looks great. I mean he doesn't look old or worn but he's certainly mature enough.

Well their are a lot of options and names are getting constantly thrown in the mix.

Tom Cruise would be awesome. I think he'd do it if he was offered and can clear his plate. Cruise films always do well overseas. They love him. This is one of the few roles as Superhero that I can see him playing, heck maybe the only one. I just can't see people getting upset over Cruise as Strange. He's also a damn good actor.

Liam Neeson would be awesome as well for Strange. This man has the personality to pull it off easily. Even though he's 60 I can't see anyone complaining about him. He's certainly believable as a world class Doctor more then someone in their late 20's or early 30's that some people seem to want.

The fact that Justin Theroux is interested means that he had a good experience with them in writing Iron Man 2.

I like Theroux too. He'd be fine for Strange just so long as he doesn't have a hand in writing the script. Iron Man 2 had it's ups and downs but it certainly could have been better.

I'd prefer Daniel Day Lewis. Doubt he'd do anything like this though.

Ahhh I remember when Cruise was being talked about for Iron Man, That would totally be from left field, but I would actually like it.

Well http://www.cinemablend.com is reporting that it's down to just three guys now.

Cumberbatch: Cumberbatch's plate is full so the odds are not in his favor and they also mention that WB wants him for something in BvS or JL.

Reeves:Their saying he can slide right into the role, and his plate appears not to be full.

Farrell: He's going to be tied up next year with shooting that series he's on so the odds are slim for him

I guess we can all still take all this with a grain of salt. My cash is on Reeves if it's down to just these three. Here's my take again.

Reeves:The problem with him that Marvel may have is his age. Even though i don't think it matters but if they are looking for long term he may not be the way to go but then if he's in the mic Marvel must not care. Reeves would be great.
Although I don't think it matters but Marvel may be waiting to see how Wick does when it comes out. If it's a hit it's gonna get buzz around Reeves big time

Cumberbatch: I can get behind him easily, but the negative is that he's such a safe pick and everyone expects him to be awesome including me. I can however see him not living up to expectations. Just saying is all but he could do it. I heard a rumor that DC wants him for Brainiac. I'd much rather him take that role. That would be awesome.

Farrell: God No! Really Marvel????

Looks like they were sourcing the WRAP.

The only problem with Cruise is his height. Wearing that big cape and standing next to the likes of Evans and Hemsworth he could look a bit ridiculous. Then again anyone wearing that cape would look a bit Strange (pun intended).

Agreed.

He's not my first choice, but if it came down between him and Reeves, it's no contest. He can act circles around Keanu.

I'm Irish, and dig Farrell. IMO him and Fassbender are on an equal keel in terms of talent, it's only Farrell's demons that have stopped him from being able to showcase those talents as much as Fassbender has been able to.

But, if it came down to Farrell and Reeves, I'd have Reeves. I think Screen Rant put it best; Reeves may have done some turkeys, but when he fits, he just fits. He's perfect, and I think this is such a situation.

I'd be happy either way, but Reeves excites me more.

I need to see that John Wick thing, people are saying he's off the rails in it.

Some fantastic reviews. RT 100%, IMDB 9.2/10.

Anyway. When will Doc Strange be set? It must be set a few years ago as Hydra were aware of him and his powers in the Winter Soldier. Also I'm guessing he'd have to have spent a few years training with the Ancient One. Any ideas?

Kevin Feige said that even though he was mentioned in the Winter Soldier, it did not mean he had his powers when that movie occurred. It mean that he's a brilliant neurosurgeon who HYDRA considers a threat.

Cheers never heard that. Not sure why Hydra would be threatened by a neurosurgeon.

How long in the comics did he spend in the Himalayas?

Doesn't really matter, the timeline will be flexible enough for him to fit neatly in the universe.

Love Keannu, he'd be my first pick from the three mentioned. Might watch Constantine later for a preview.

YAY!! WT on #TeamKeanu!

:woot:

Bill and Ted is on Netflix Instant. Been meaning to rewatch that one. How awesome would George Carlin have been as The Ancient One?

I'd love Min-Sik Choi to play the role. Would step away from the stereotypical gentle wise master. Also a fantastic actor.

Jet Li as Wong. Nuff said.

Sheesh. Never seen such indecision on Marvel's part. They must've really wanted Joaquin.

Wanting Phoenix so bad is the opposite of indecisive. :o

But, off the top of my head, there were as many or more names mentioned for Star Lord at that time. None of them got it, Pratts name was totally out of the blue when he was announced.

It only has 14 reviews counted on RT though.

Project Insight is all about predicting future threats by analysing peoples pasts, and then neutralizing them pre-emptively, so while he wouldn't be a threat now, he likely would be in the future.
