I have a hunch we will know who plays Strange in the next three weeks. the speculation will soon be over
Has anyone suggested Leonardo DiCaprio for the role? I think it's the only superhero role I can see Leo doing. Can Marvel get him?
Why would Phoenix really have to do the con circuit?
It isn't really convention goers that dictate the box office, they are just a small demographic of hardcore fans.
I would play off Phoenix as the oddball of the group, which really plays off of the Doctor Strange persona perfectly.
Limit him to one or two public appearances a year and the rest of the time say he is in his sanctum santorum or wtv it is.
Except for that time that Vin Deisel managed to grab your user name.Desperation on an actors part and pandering to fans shouldn't count for anything, and thankfully Marvel doesn't seem to pay much attention to such attempts, they've brilliantly casted so far and apart from D'Onofrio as Kingpin it never seems to have been choices made with outside influence.
Who cares about d-list actors lobbying for roles?
There is a reason why they lobby for roles, because they have lackluster careers that they feel could greatly benefit from a franchise role, thing is with hacks like Dempsey as Strange or the Old Spice guy as Cage, those franchises/series wouldn't benefit being as the talent just isn't there to carry such projects.

Rumor has it that John Krasinski tested extremely well for Captain America

Rumor has it that John Krasinski tested extremely well for Captain America, but Marvel changed their mind when fans reacted poorly, so they went ahead and cast Chris Evans. Of course, that was then, and this is now, and I think Marvel, at this point, has the kind of clout that they can cast whoever they hell they want.
I'm so glad it won't be Cumberbatch. I like him and wouldn't be against him but I'm so tired of this fantasy fan boy casting and this great love of Cumberbatch. He is not the best suited for Strange. I'm sick of everything that's mentioned here it "OMG they should get Cumberbatch or Fassbender" give it a rest. Yes Cumberbatch is a good actor but so is Tom Cruise, that some here come down on for no reason other then his personal life which I don't give a crap about. As long as an actor entertains me and does a good job I'm happy.
I don't give a crap about Tom Cruise's personal life and I would still hate him for Strange, apart from his age,I believe in the recent years all he does is keep playing himself in all the roles, none of his roles in the last 5-10 yrs have impressed me
While Cumberbatch has already played a genius and like-able as*hole(Sherlock) which is why I think he can kill as Strange
