Doctor Who - Not a Hugging Type of Thread

Yeah, without the meeting in reverse order stuff.

Just letting the mother and son met when they wouldn't have otherwise cause she died (not because of the Doctor) before he grew up.
A son getting to rewrite history a bit.
That would be pretty cool, actually.

Not sure how the next episode will be. Might be a bit mixed, I think.

I expect there to be a frustrating cliffhanger of sorts in the finale (Moffat said viewers will be eager for Series 9 to start), but I hope they end the season with a bang and provide detail to Missy's agenda.

I hope this episode opens with Danny having already put the pieces together about Clara's lies. It was pretty obvious with that phone call in last week's episode.

I'm guessing the episode will either start with Danny asking Clara for the truth, or we'll get another time-gap and the episode will start some days/weeks later with Danny trying to get over it.

This episode sucked...

Kinda boring, the kids got on my nerves, and the whole "resolution" was kinda lazy.

The preview for next week was great though.

It wasn't great but, again, the brilliance of Capaldi contrived to make me enjoy it. The major problem continues to be the boring relationship between Clara and Pink, but at least it looks as if that is all coming to its climax.

I should say that, although that kind of thing isn't my cup of tea, I did think the children in the cast were very good. They were not overly cute, nor did any of their dialogue seem particularly unnatural.

This episode dragged for me. Not terrible by any means, but also not one I'd be in a rush to watch again. And I get the problems associated with casting lots and lot of people, but it was funny how the Coal Hill crew and that girl's mother were the only ones in London walking around.

But next week? Wow. That looks exactly like what I want in a two-part series finale.

Tonight's episode was alright. Not one of the better episodes this season, but not bad. Capaldi was excellent as always and next week look awesome.

Danny Pink is really starting to get on my nerves and piss me off...

A lowlight of S8, to be sure. Dark Water looks like a serious return to form.

That was a lot of nothing. No one was walking around except a handful of kids and two teachers and some girl's mom?

Whatever.

When Clara jumped into the time scar, each splinter Clara gained new background and identities so maybe one of the Clara's who was supposed to help 12 got found by Missy.

I just hope Moffat isn't pulling another Amy isn't our Amy trick.

Tbf they were told to stay in doors as they were going to burn the forest.

Like Londoners would listen to that. In central London especially (from Cromwell Road to Trafalgar Square, about 2 miles or so, would be packed) there'd have been people all over the place gawping, looters a plenty, and others 'stranded' just like the kids were.

Would Manhattan be all but deserted in the same circumstances?

They just couldn't afford to or didn't want get in a big cast of extras for it.

Personally, the worst ep of this season for me. I can live with the unrealistic deserted central London, I just thought it was a weak story in general anyway.

I live in Camden mate. I know what London's like.

This is a Doctor Who show about a forest that covers the whole world (including Oceans) in order to protect it from a solar flare by producing oxygen to burn off. Yet people are complaining because there are no people on the streets?

The show is a pantomime. Leave reality at the door when you watch it.

I do know that, I was responding to you saying they covered the unrealistic deserted streets by telling Londoners to stay inside (I used to live in Kensington btw, about a 1/2 mile away from the Natural History Museum, so I know that area all too well).

And like I said I can live with that lack of realism (I've seen worse in stuff I love all the time, be it Dr Who, any given CBM, horror/action flicks etc). That was just a niggle that on it's own was an 'ok then...move on' thing for me. It was the overall story I just didn't care for (so even if they had put extras in running about it wouldn't have been any better for me).

I was playing devils advodcate, hence the tbf. The overall story wasn't great. And Dan is really boring.

Time for new companions for the Doc? If we do I'd like to see someone from another planet or the past/future.

Dan has been a misfire so far. Dull as dishwater atm. Might well be time to have Clara soufflé off into the sunset with him and giver Peter some fresh blood to play off.

I'd like something different than 'contemporary human' for the next one too, or at least have that with a modern day human. I can understand why they keep with that for at least one companion (serves as our eyes into the Doctors world and all that), but mixing it up for another wouldn't hurt.

Osgood might be a fun choice, I liked her a lot in Day of the Doctor. Though she might be a bit too fangirl for it to work in the long term.

I think Danny's been good for what he's had to be, he's not intended to be a new Rory or anything like that and he seems totally likable and fun in that stable way that might appeal to some.
