Doctor Who - Part 2

Anyway, I'm not so sure Amy or Rory will die. "Curse of the Black Spot" was an episode that was supposed to air with the second half of the series, but got pushed up with a few rewrites. Either that episode got a major overhaul, or it was always supposed to have Amy & Rory in it.

Considering the timey wimeyness of the show, we've already seen the photo of Amy in the orphange in Day of the Moon with the little girl who technically hasn't been revealed yet.

Didn't Black Spot feature the story of a child searching for his parent after one had died?

But Amy is also the Rani. And so is River. And Aunt Sharon. And Rose. And Donna.

Pretty much every female character except for Rani from SJA.

The Eye Patch Lady is the most convincing candidate for being the Rani. She has Amy locked away in a clinical chamber and wants her baby for something. The Rani was always a scientist and Amy's baby (if it does turn out to be the little girl from the first episodes) can regenerate. Maybe the Eye Patch Lady has caused this or, if she is the Rani, she could want to use the child for something due its Time Lord abilities. She also appears to be a villain judging from the trailer for Episode 7.
I personally don't think she is the Rani but out of every female character on the show she is the most logical assumption.

Personally, I'd rather they lay off bringing back the old villains for a spell. They have featured in all the seasons and all the season finales so far (Daleks, Cybermen, The Master), so I'd like something new to end this one.

So how long of a break are we getting after this mid season finale?

who ever replaces amy is going to have a terrible job in doing so

it will be rose/martha all over again

only this time it will be a decent and well thought out character being replaced rather than a fangirls mary sue

Could a young adult River Song be the next companion?

I've wondered about this. I'm sure that if Moffat doesn't want to cover those years there is a way for him to do it. If she is who she said she is then showing that time could be... problematic.

Assuming River isn't the RANI of course. :cmad:

UGH! I swear, if I read one more nonsensical Omega theory...

I think you and this guy might have something in common

BTW "RTD Mode" is something I called where people can't seem to escape the past of RTD's era.

"What if the little girl was Lucy Saxon!!!"

http://www.rangerboard.com/showthread.php?p=3764921

It's not just RTD mode, these past-dependent theories have been in root since the series began. I was there in 2005 when people assumed "Bad Wolf" was Davros, or that Adam (the punk kid The Doctor and Rose met who abused his priveleges) would turn out to be Davros based on that hole he had in his forehead. In this instance, Bad Wolf turned out to be a new idea.

When Donna was hearing the Meta-Doctor's heart beat resonate through time in "The Stolen Earth", people mistook that for Donna's heartbeat and began making wild ideas that she was Romana or The Rani. It turned out to be a new idea

Last year, people insisted Omega was behind the cracks in time and was the "silence" and that River was in leuge with him because they THOUGHT they recognized an Omega symbol on her commando gear. What happens? The Silence turn out to be a new idea, and, and whilst her identitiy has been allegedly spoiled on the 'net (nothing's certain until the episode airs) that very spoiler makes River out to be some what of a unique idea too, though more of a conventional one to sci-fi if the spoiler is accurate.

You'd think they'd have learned their lesson by now, but they havent. They still come up with the most banal and poorly thought out theories imaginable, letting their inner fanfic author speak in the abcense of common sense, all in a desperate bid to see something else from the past rear it's head, instead of expecting and discussing any new ideas that test the scope of their limited imagination.

The theories just make the fandom look dumb and incapable of originality. That's what I hate

If I had to bet on what's going on and who the big bad is I'd guess we're going to see the return of Omega. He had planned on programming the baby with his "DNA" (the data that creates the gangers) but I think the Doctor interrupted his data stream and replaced it with the "DNA" of the Doppledoc.
It's one of them jokes. He doesn't mean it. No one really believes Omega is coming back, do they? Also that theory holds up as much as trying to hold water in a colender.

Just read an official (assume its official as it was in the press) synopsis of the next episode that names Amy's baby:
her name is Pond. Melody Pond. The association with 'River Song' would seem a lot more obvious now.

Could all be Moffat playing games with the fans, we'll find out soon enough.

That seems far too obvious. Surely Moffat would realize this and its a bluff? Or maybe its a double bluff? Or maybe a triple? Or maybe I don't have bloody clue.

Or maybe we should just wait a few days and find out what's really going to happen :p

I hope the BBC ignore those 'too scary for kids' complaints. If the parents genuinely don't think its suitable then don't let them watch it. Seems parents would rather not take that responsibility these days.

Besides, in an age now when kids have easy access to horror movies and are playing all manner of zombie/alien/violence related video games (and they are regardless of any certificate brandished on the box) Doctor Who is rather tame.

The Daleks are put to "rest" by Moffat

Moffat said: "There's a problem with the Daleks. They are the most famous of the Doctor's adversaries and the most frequent, which means they are the most reliably defeatable enemies in the universe."
Does beg the question why he redesigned them when he had no plans for them really. The Big Bang didn't really need them and as much as I liked the Victory of the Daleks that could've been saved for later when he wanted to use them.

I'm glad to have the Daleks put to rest. I wouldn't mind seeing them in a few years. :p Like Season 8. Or something. That way their return can be more exciting.

Please! Kids love it! Children love watching scary TV shows. I don't even like horror movies, but as a kid I loved watching Are You Afraid of the Dark, Eerie Indiana, Goosebumps, So Weird, and reruns of The Twilight Zone. Doctor Who is right up that street. I bet a good number of the parents complaining haven't even gauged their kids' reactions.

Don't get me wrong I like that they are taking a break for now. I just don't get the redesign with the colour coded classes and everything and then ignoring them.

Oh yeah I get what you mean. I saw it just as a setup to remove more ties to the RTD era with half-human Daleks. Just a setup for future use I guess.

Speaking of which, I didn't understand the plot to "Victory of the Daleks." The Daleks' machine wouldn't work for them because it couldn't identify them as Daleks. Why not? The half-human Daleks created by the Emperor were all destroyed by Rose. The Daleks posing as Ironsides were the survivors of Davros' last plan, and those Daleks were all made from Davros' own Kaled flesh.

Davros is hardly your average Kaled. If the Progenitor was looking for original Dalek dna, Davros' Daleks might have had a slightly different genetic structure considering the source.
