That preview ... dang! Now that's what I call a bleedin' HOOK!

I'm not too familiar with Kristy, but for some reason I'm already liking her.
Kristy was a character from the '90's, i don't recall if Todd McFarlane created her, or not- but it was definitely during his run as penciler on ASM. That, i'm sure of! I wonder how long MJ and Peter will be able to tolerate her, and i also recall her having a crush on Peter, but i doubt that she's still carrying a torch for him! (LOL!) I still wonder what drove Tony to call in Wanda, Hawkeye, and Hank back to active duty when he knows they're not as sharp as they used to. Somethin' smells fishy with that to me.....

Awesome preview, Kaine.

It's so weird, even in an alternate universe, seeing Scarlet Witch together with Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Heh. Wonder if Defalco is going to poke fun at it like Dan Slott has in the past. :)

But so far the preview looks pretty interesting. Can't wait to have this bad boy in my hands.

I read the current issue, and I am saying that I am impressed, although I am a little confused about Normie and the Venom suit, but the rest of it was pretty cool, and I like the Tony Stark body guard.

Unlike Ultimate Spider-Man I was able to enjoy this issue, and really get into the characters, and kind of what is going on with them, but enlighten me on the issue with Normie and the symboite please

OMG, it's COUSIN KRISTY and the years have certainly been kind to her (she's filled out nicely- I'd hit).

Kristy was part of McFarlane's ASM run, yes, but she was most prominently featured in Spectacular Spider-man at the time. I remember the storyline where she had a 'terrible secret', and she even found out about Peter's secret identity at one point.

here's more:

Kristy Watson:

First Appearance: Spectacular Spider-Man #145 (1988)
Kristy is the young cousin of Mary Jane. Daughter of Lou and Sybil Watson, she left home due to her belligerent father and distant mother to stay with MJ. She developed a crush on Peter. Her eating habits appeared odd, but it wasn't until the Parker's found Kristy passed out that they realized she was bulimic. After treatment, her parents returned, demonstrating a dismal lack of concern. The Parker's decided to continue her suprvision until she eventually left to become a nanny for Norman Osborn Jr.

Normie got taken over by the symbiote at his engagment party when the Female Goblin Fury, threw a vial containing the suit at him. The suit took over but would tell May "Normies Secrets" while they were fighting, according to Venom, Normie is a closet Disney fan, Doesn't like Darkdevil, Knows about May crushing on him, and was lying when he said his dip in the Goblin goo didn't affect him, and that he was gonna betray May. Eventually May got Normie out of the suit, and as they were about to put the suit in an oven, he changed his mind saying the he and the suit had reached an agreement an that he was now in charge

OMG! I just picked up the latest issue, #94... W@W!... this book has old school all over it!

I am a BIG fan of Sal Buscema art!

I guess I am onboard...... so is this book in danger of being canned?

Spider Girl became a Marvel Icon awhile back, meaning the almost always danger of being cancelled ended, its good to have new readers such as yourself discovering the greatness of this book, cause you never know if Marvel will change there minds

Welcome to the fold!

Be sure to get a friend or colleague into the book. If each Spider-Girl reader just gets one person into the book...that doubles readership. Doesn't sound that difficult, but boy it sure is.

Haven't read ish # 94 yet but I'll definitely be getting to that tonight.

Great issue , I'm looking foraward to the next one. Ron Frenz's art is looking really really good here as well. They need a better design for Venom though, his head looks F'ed uo

I agree with you there. He looks kind of underdrawn, the only character in the book that looks like no thought was thought into it.

That was actually Scott Lang in the Ant-Man garb. He's Stinger's dad.

Anyway, solid issue! What did you guys think of the new bullpen "Hotspot" page? I enjoyed the mentioning of Lee, Kirby, Ditko, and company as Marvel's "Founding Fathers".

My comic store just recently stopped ordering Spider-Girl. They're still getting it for me in my pull box, but my store owner is saying that it's not "flying off the shelf" so they stopped buying it. I can see things from his point of view --he only takes home about $200 profit per week from this store, so I guess he has to be really picky about what he orders. This really sucks since Spider-Girl is really starting to hit a strong stride.

I just thought of something a minute ago. I know that people hate spoilers, but I think if we started to hype up the cover to SG #97 (Ron Frenz himself over on the other Spider-Girl board said that the guy on the cover was the real deal) by talking about it or by making banners or posters to hang up some where in a real store or on the internet, then I bet it wouldn't be so hard for each of us to make one new fan and to get some of these stores to start ordering copies. What do ya think? Would it be worth it to spoil some fans now if it meant getting even more fans down the road?

I've been doing a bit of that on all the Diamond list threads, but using a link and warning about the Spoilers just to avoid ruining it for current readers. It seems to have done its job, quite a few people stated that they would be picking it up around here. Thats pretty much all I can do, everyone and I do mean everyone at my shop already reads Spider Girl.

Spider-Girl 94 comes out on the 11th, of course I think you all already know that.

Ive been to comic stores, and i havent seen a new issue of Spider-Girl in stock in a good while.Even though i import it,i dont see it in a high demand. Is this a sign of whats to come?

Used to get Spider-Girl monthly when all it took was a short walk over to the nearest gorcery store to pick it up. This was when I was 14 or 15. Then I moved across the country, and the only place I could get Spider-Girl was the comic shop, 20 minute drive away. Was JUST getting my license and wasn't into the habit of making the drive. Collection went from #0-26. Everytime I was in a comic store after that I would look at the latest Spider-Girl ish and wonder why I ever stopped. Last week I decided to get back on the wagon.... I have a lot of ground to recover.

Why don't you subscribe on the website? Sometimes, you get it even earlier than the comic store. And you save a ton of money. They have a lot more mags you can get now too, you should check it out at Marvel.com

I got a subscription too. I get a mint one from the store to collect, and I use the one I get from the subscription to read and to give away. (I give the spare ones out at holidays and Free Comic book days and such like that.)

My store owner is still getting the latest Spider-Girl for me at the store, but he's not buying any to put on the shelves. That really stinks because Spider-Girl is hitting such a really strong stride in the stories. I think that if more people (like my store owner who's going to hear it from me the next time I go in) knew about that spoiler to #97, I think more people might give SG a chance. And with the storytelling as strong as it is now, I bet we would retain a lot of those readers once they got on board. I want to see Spider-Girl continue on into 2008!

Well, I'll see if I can't persuade my store owner.

It could be. But you can put an end to it if you really enjoy the book. All you have to do is pass the word around about what an excellent book Spider-Girl is and get people just to take a chance on it. The book will speak for itself...it's getting that person to actually pick it up that makes it hard.

Just won 70+ Spider-Girl comics on Ebay... completion is nearly at hand!
