No i didn't- i ran low on dinero, but i will this weekend! I heard good things about it, and i like having the one-shots for collector purposes!

So will that, or won't that- be Magento in the next upcoming issue of Spider-Girl? Or will it be another explanation of how he died, like Tom does from time to time, by letting us know how certain Silver Age heroes/villians have moved on in the MC2 Universe? I like the throwback X-Men uniform that Lucy will be wearing!

Awesome preview, Citizen Kane.

Mayday purposely goes through the Avengers defense systems to get a workout. Heh. That's freakin' awesome.

Now that's what i'm talkin' about! Thank you Citizen Kane, for providing the preview for us to check out! I loved the interaction between May and Jarvis! I'm also eager to know if it is in fact the real Magento, and not some imposter. At anyrate- i'm all in!

SG #92. Quick thoughts and vague spoilers

After the comparative “lightness” of the previous two issues, I felt that SG #92 was a genuinely excellent issue. All the characters felt very real to me with their personalities creeping into even the shortest lines of dialogue. I was glad to see a supporting character get in a brief but wonderful bit of characterization that had a thematic resonance throughout the story, cresting at this wonderful slice-of-life moment at the very end -- I genuinely love endings where a simple action can be made to carry so much hidden meaning and importance. I liked the situational humor between the two underdog heroes of the story, and their relationship with the adults in their lives made for a wonderful mirrored comparison. The villain had an understandable but twisted motive that fed into the thematic song of the story, and Spider-Girl’s true beauty -- her sensitivity and compassion -- once again clutches justice from the jaws of a slaughter. However, I felt that the “Mayday moments“ were more powerful than the “Spider-Girl“ moments -- something I was pleasantly surprised with. There was definitely some wonderful action, but what enraptured me was the thematic explorations, and how every scene was tightly woven to come to a definitive conclusion was almost symphonic to me. I’m very pleased that the subtext of the actions of certain individuals was not only enticing in its hidden intent but also motivated modulations in the heroes‘ reactions, making me draw further comparisons between two villains. A certain character continues to really disturb me with his machiavellianism, and Mayday‘s dramatic reaction breathed off the page with genuine emotion. I thought this was a subtle and finely-crafted story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I only flipped through ish # 92 but it looked very cool. I got to see what's up with the appearance of Magneto. Looks rather intriguing. :o

The beginning is great with Mayday using the Avengers defense system as a daily warm up.

Got my comics today, and i haven't gotten a chance to read them! But when i do, i'll be back with my own report! (I didn't read Jarkoer's post, but i will after i return!)

I couldn't have said better myself! And my i go the record to say: I HATE Mainframe! He definitely has a stick logged in his anal regions! I really enjoyed May and Nancy's interactions with one another, and they both had some pretty funny quips too! Tom is really teasing us about what's going on with Normie, and now an AWOL Phil Urich! Tom please give me MORE!!!!

Spider-Girl # 92 was pretty good. I was kind of disappointed with the Magneto twist but you can't win them all.

I agree with Blaque on the fact that Mainframe has something stuck in his anal region. Jeez, they saved the day and nobody got hurt. May is certainly going through the same things that her father went through.

I believe that Mr. Defalco may be building up to something huge with the Normie/Phil Urich thing for ish # 100. Man, that is definitely a scary feeling knowing that Normie still has the Venom symbiote still bonded to him.

Describes every boss I ever had. :-p

Actually, a few of them would make Mainframe look like Captain Kangaroo. LOL

EDIT -- (Has spoilers)

Thinking about it, though, it does fit into this whole theme about "the means don't justify the end" question that Mayday talked about. The "end" that everybody wanted was catching the bad guy. The Avengers wanted to be extra careful, and do that with a major manhunt that might have killed that guy. But Spider-Girl adapted her own means based on what she knew about the situation, and solved it in a better way. And, because her means weren't the same as the Avengers (who were depending on her to be a team player), of course Mainframe was miffed.

(Interestingly enough, it could be argued that the villain was just as wrong as the Avengers in this whole "means to an end" theme.)

Then on the other hand, we've got Normie. We don't know what kind of "end" he's going for, but he's being real sneaking and sending burglars to the hospital, and he did something to Phil. If he is going for a "good end", then he's using a lot of force to do it.

The two scenarios play off each other pretty well seeing as how they're opposites. If anything, it looks like Mayday's the only one with the right idea in the whole issue.

Well said Jarkoer. I agree 100% with what you said, and couldn't have said it better myself! Although i do have my own assumptions about what Normie did to Phil, and i'm starting to believe that the symbiote gave birth to yet ANOTHER symbiote. When Normie has Phil come over, it may have been to have the new symbiote attach itself to Phil, its' new host- hence Phil's scream at the end of the issue. Which, IMO, would explain the beaten thugs that Stinger made May aware of over at Oscop, and Phil's disappearence as well. Normie did make mention that Phil was "risking his life" being the Goblin, and if in fact he's still on the side of good, he'sdoing this to ensure that Phil won't be killed in combat as he nearly was when he fought Fury. Also, remember the way Normie approached Phil when he gave the nod to reassume the identity of the Goblin? He looked as if he was up to no good, but his intentions were good. I think if Phil has bonded with the new symbiote, the fight with the thugs may have been a test of control over the symbiote. Again, i'm just speculating, but i have a feeling that i'm close to something....

People, after seven years of the fans' loyal support of the book and Tom's continued devotion, Spider-Girl has just become a Marvel Icon!

Note that one of the people posting to that thread says he plans to write Marvel to ask them to take Tom off the book. I think we should write Marvel to say we want Tom on Spider-Girl as long as he wants to keep writing it.

I wonder if this guy is the same jerk who posts under Tom's name on the Spider-Girl board.

I have not been reading any Spider-Girl Comics since few years ago, but just wonder If Scarlet Spider (Girl...whatever name is) still around later or whatever happen?

That is definitely great news about Spider-Girl. I saw this newsbit over in another thread. It's good to knokw that this book will keep going on strong. It's one of Marvel's better books.

About damn time Marvel recognized a good book; they've already cancelled so many others.
