Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 2

The "Hannibal Lecter" in Hannibal Rising bore no resemblance in character to the established character of Hannibal Lecter.

Hannibal is not a vigilante anti-hero.

I kinda feel the same about him in Hannibal. There's a few instances where he comes out but overall it doesn't really feel like Lecter

The thing I love about Cox's Hannibal is how bored he seems by everything. Mads and Hopkins both seem to have some sort of interest in human affairs, while Brian Cox just seems to be above it all.

Hopkins' performance in the Hannibal movie is hit-and-miss for me. He has moments (mostly with the Italian cop Pazzi) where he's super creepy and feels like Lecter, but there are also a lot of scenes where, I don't know, Hopkins seems kind of over it and like he's just running through his scenes and isn't really playing Lecter as much as he's playing Anthony Hopkins.

And Hopkins is really on cruise control in Red Dragon.

But Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs is and will forever be great to me.

This, however, is pure Hannibal. So serenly enthralled by classical music right after savagely slaughtering someone. I could totally see Mikkelsen's Hannibal doing this.

The main reason I love that scene is because you finally get to see what a beast he is. The entire movie up until that point he's been a little creepy, you've heard some stuff, but for the most part he's basically polite, intelligent and very dignified. Then wham, he's just annihilating these poor guys.

I feel like the Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Lector is more frightening when in his cell. Whereas the Mads version of Hannibal is the one to be feared outside of his cell. If that makes sense.

I kind of want some cracky meet-up between Hopkins' Lecter and Mikkelsen's Lecter where they're lobbing verbal barbs and psychoanalysis over an elegant dinner and totally judging each other hardcore.

lol @ Hannibal's expression in the preview when Crawford takes a sample of his food.

It was good seeing Izzard again. I'm happy the endgame is starting.

I've heard this may get cancelled. What's the chances of another network picking this up?

I got CHILLS the first time they showed Beverly. Next week is going to be SO good!

If memory serves me correctly, I had read somewhere that there were around five networks that were interested in picking up the show when it was up for renewal.
