Horror Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 5

Though the dialogue got a bit weird at times, like Hannibal saying 'drop the mic', a fantastic finale. Would I like more seasons on another network or netflix, absolutely. A movie, or a few, definitely. But the ending was great. No complaints. Arguably the best show ever though it was short lived.

Mads obviously needs to be Euron Greyjoy... But I would be all for some more television series with Hugh Dancy.

Well, he has one coming up I think.

" yea, we all know that fuller doesn't have the balls to kill off the main chara- OMFG HE PULLED HIM OFF THE CLIFF "

That ending was so damn perfect. I may or may not have shed tears.

the thing I'm curious about, they went into this season not knowing whether or not the show would be cancelled. So, they must have filmed two different endings, right?

Bryan Fuller said that they actually did know that the show was probably getting cancelled this season, hence why they moved the Red Dragon arc from Season 4 into this season.

then the "#savehannibal " **** was pointless.....

They sort of thought they'd be cancelled after every season, that's why last year was a murder fest...

can someone explain that scene in the credits with [BLACKOUT]Gillian Anderson[/BLACKOUT] !?
it didnt get that ..

Anybody else thought the fight scene was kind of erotic? The way Will and Hannibal looked at each other before the killing blows. I dont know maybe its just me.

Im kind of disappointed they didnt kiss at the end.

Amazing finale. Amazing ending.

These are three situations I could see happening;

a Will/Hannibal took a detour and they both did it to her...
b1. Will/Hannibal lived, and that was there first co-production after Dolarhyde
b2. Will/Hannibal lived, and Hannibal did it alone

Or, this fourth way is how I feel like Fuller/Anderson [the look on her face feels like tepid anticipation] filmed/intended it;

c. Bedilla succumbed to her inner feelings again... did it to herself, and was awaiting Hannibal (and maybe Will) to join her in dinner. This would have been her way of keeping her 'life' and still appease Hannibal with a nice juicy piece of meat.

Ugh, the whole episode was like bad fan fiction (which is basically the back half of the season in a nut shell).

How was it pointless when the goal of "Save Hannibal" has been to get the show picked up somewhere else?

As has been repeatedly said, NBC was never the right place for it.

Adding to what antsman is saying, [BLACKOUT]there are three chairs and three dinner places set, so... it's fairly likely that Will and Hannibal (somehow) survived that fall and Bedelia is their first victim.[/BLACKOUT]

I call ******** on that. "NBC isn't the right place for it." Why not? This show is more graphic than any show on AMC, FX, A&E, and the likes. Hell...this show trumps most of the stuff on HBO and Showtime. NBC didn't try to change this show, edit it down, or micromanage it. NBC gave Fueller and Co. plenty of leeway. If the audience were there, it would've found the show, regardless of the network. This show did not fail (in terms of ratings) due to being on the wrong network. It failed because it is a fairly pretentious show that was only ever going to appeal to a very small audience. The fact that it got three seasons and closure is borderline miraculous.

NBC has mishandled a lot of stuff in the past 10 years. This show cannot be counted among the missteps.

Another more likely scenario is that Bedelia set the plates herself assuming Will and Hannibal would become lovers partners and come for her.

I don't know. I'd say a big part of its failure was being on the wrong network from the start, which made it harder to find the right audience. We'll never know how it might have went down otherwise, but had this started out on FX, HBO, or Netflix, it might have been a much greater success right out of the gate.

NBC doesn't target smart, interesting viewers. Even though Parks/Community/Hannibal brought that in... it isn't up to their standards which is drivel idiotic crap with a hint of reality shows.

They needed the prestige from critics. Even with pretty solid viewers for the 'crappy time slot' this show typically aired should have negated that any failings in the ratings... since NBC has no other show that brings critic love.

Maybe if the show were on Fx or AMC it wouldve garnered similar ratings.

Might be that Hannibal is just one of those shows that doesnt appeal to that large of an audience.

Maybe Starz will give it a shot if they like what they have with American Gods.

It's crazy, there is a blood red full moon tonight.

Yeah there was a full moon here last night as well. Alas, there was no blood to improve the visual.

Never mind, found it on youtube. Beautiful. Almost reminds me of something from a Bond film.

Especially how it was used with the imagery of the burning book/Painting. Looked like one of the more recent opening credits of a Bond film.
