Horror Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 5

Yea, that is one of my favorite lines from any of the movies.

Norman Bates says hello.

I don't think the two are quite comparable. The Norman Bates thing was done as a twist, with the whole element with his mother being presented as the killer for a lot of the film. It's not really as in depth as what we saw with Francis Dolarhyde, nor is Norman's pathology spelt out and examined as deeply as Dolarhyde's. Norman Bates was the boy next door right up until it turned out he was insane.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it was in the book as it was.....

More or less the gist of it is, but I'm pretty certain that it' the last bit was from Mann. I could be wrong though.

Yea, I gotta agree with Roose here. I'm not exactly sure about Dolarhyde being the first ever serial killer character to be given so much depth and motivation but Bates is a totally different situation.

How many people did Bates actually kill? I recall the gal in the shower. Who else?

I have no idea, to be honest. I never really got into those movies. Saw the third one on tv once.

He also killed his mother and her lover as well as numerous other hotel guest who came to stay at the hotel. The original psycho is based on a book of the same name by Richard Bloch.

I keep meaning to watch that again. I recall liking the remake with Vince Vaughn. :)

I don't think Bedelia cooked her own leg, how can she do all that with one leg and she wasn't in a wheelchair. Plus she took the two-pronged fork into her lap like concealing a weapon, meaning she is defending herself.

Definitely open to interpretation but I doubt she cooked her own leg or she is going to eat it.

Is calling Fuller Fueller like a joke or something? Why do you some of you keep doing that even after being corrected?

The first one is one of the greatest movies ever made, I highly recommend it.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Maybe it'll be worth watching if A&E leaves it alone and Fueller gets ahold of it some time in the future...

Hopkins is my mental image of Hannibal when reading the books too.

Though I dig Mikkelsen too, in a somewhat different way. By their own admission, Fueller and Mikkelsen deliberately played up the "Hannibal as Satan" angle.

Norman Bates says hello.

Actually...Bryan Fueller should do pyscho next.

?

Is it just a joke you guys ran with since Matt refuses to say his correct name or something lol. I was just wondering, I know it's been mentioned a couple of times in this thread the correct spelling is Fuller.

Fueller is working on American Gods for Starz. Hopefully he puts a little lead in his foot and steps on the fuel and gets that show going sooner rather than later.

You've mentioned "hearing" it both ways before, but have you actually heard it, or just read it? Because if you've read it as Fueller, I can understand you running with that (it's still wrong), but if you've heard it then I imagine whoever was saying the guy's name just pronounced it funny.

At this point I think people spell it with an E as a running gag, and Matt mostly just does it to be stubborn :awesome:

Give me Fueller, give me fire, give me subtext I desire!

Honestly, I do it because Antman and/or Slimshady (can't remember which) flipped the hell out over it once (at which point it was just an honest typo). So now at this point, I just do it for their benefit. :woot:
