'Hannibal' casts Eddie Izzard -- EXCLUSIVE
Eddie Izzard, meet Hannibal Lecter.
The Valkyrie and The Riches actor is coming to Bryan Fuller’s promising-sounding NBC thriller Hannibal in a guest-star role.
Izzard will play an inmate at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane — yes, the very same facility where Hannibal Lecter is eventually incarcerated. Izzard’s character is claiming to be “the infamous Chesapeake Ripper.”
You’ll recall that Izzard was recently on NBC in another Fuller project, starring as Grandpa Munster in Fuller’s Mockingbird Lane, which aired as a Halloween special last month. Previously announced Hannibal guest stars include Gina Torres, Molly Shannon, Ellen Greene and Chelan Simmons. There’s no premiere date yet for Hannibal, but we’re expecting a midseason release.
Oh ****, son...Gillian Anderson Joins NBC's Hannibal
BY KIMBERLY ROOTS
Special Agent Dana Scully is back on duty.
The X-Files‘ Gillian Anderson has joined the cast of NBC’s Hannibal, EW.com reports.
In a multi-episode arc, Anderson will play the personal therapist of the titular Dr. Lecter.
In the decade since X-Files wrapped, the actress has stayed away from American broadcast television, choosing instead to focus on projects like Encore’s Moby Dick and the British TV series The Fall.
Dat Henriksen.Exclusive: Hannibal Feasts on Lance Henriksen
Lance Henriksen is the latest sci-fi staple to pay a visit to Hannibal.
The Aliens thesp has been tapped to guest-star in an episode of NBC’s Bryan Fuller-produced drama, which is being billed as a contemporary take on the characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon novel that focuses on the fledgling relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), his mentor.
NBC confirmed Henriksen’s casting but provided no details about his top-secret role.
Henriksen joins an impressive genre-drenched guest cast that includes X-Files vet Gillian Anderson, Firefly‘s Gina Torres and Wonderfalls’ Caroline Dhavernas.
NBC has yet to schedule a premiere date for Hannibal, but network president Robert Greenblatt told reporters last week that it “might” debut by the end of the season, but added it “could fit really nicely” in the summer.
Goddammit, NBC, you give me a premiere date and you give it to me right the hell now!Exclusive: Ellen Muth to Visit NBC's Hannibal
BY KIMBERLY ROOTS
A grim reaper is on her way to see Hannibal.
Ellen Muth, who played soul escort George on Dead Like Me, will guest-star in an episode of the forthcoming NBC drama, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Muth’s new character is named Georgia, a nod to her role on Dead Like Me, the Showtime series created by Hannibal writer and executive producer Bryan Fuller.
The upcoming serial killer drama, a contemporary take on the characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon novel, focuses on the fledgling relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Lecter, his mentor.
Muth is the latest Fuller alum to feast at Hannibal‘s table: Wonderfalls‘ Caroline Dhavernas and Chelan Simmons and Pushing Daisies’ Molly Shannon, Raul Esparza and Ellen Greene are already on board; so are The X-Files’ Gillian Anderson, Firefly‘s Gina Torres, The Matrix‘s Laurence Fishburne, Veep‘s Anna Chlumsky and Aliens‘ Lance Henriksen.
Hannibal doesn’t yet have a premiere date, but network president Robert Greenblatt recently said it might debut by the end of the season or sometime this summer.
Muth’s resume also includes Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU and the film Dolores Claiborne.
jeez, looks like this is the season of the network serial killers...
