Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread

Hmmm season 1 seems to soon for Hannibal to be revealed as the killer (esp if its 13 episodes) it should at least be by the end of season 2 going into season 3.

If all goes according to plan, Fuller said Red Dragon would be season 3 or 4.

I don't see them going that far.

Will Graham is the lead of this show. That would mean halfway through the show he disappears and is replaced by a new lead?

Plus this unexplored prequel material is much different than just rehashing the events of the movies.

This might be how they do it without rehashing SOTL and Hannibal (not posting spoiler tags, as the book is 30 years old and has 2 movies, but read on at your peril):

Assuming the show lasts 4 seasons and season 4 is taken up with the retelling of Red Dragon, season 5 can be about the aftermath impacting Will Graham that is almost entirely new territory for the franchise.

We know that after his disfigurement at the hands of Dollarhyde, Will Graham becomes an drunken recluse, but nothing more than that. Maybe between seasons 4-5 they can time warp forward however many years they want to, until they hit the point after Hannibal ends. Then you have Hannibal as a free man, coming back into contact with Graham, now a broken man with nothing to lose and no reason to catch Hannibal anymore. The dramatic possibilities of the new few seasons after that would be interesting.

I think we have all fantasized about offing someone who is obnoxious or rude or what have you. Like Dexter has his own morality of, “he kills killers.” Hannibal’s morality is much looser, like a higher social power. Like, if you do not have the ability to appreciate the beauty that life presents you, you do not deserve to have your life. If you are a pig of a human being, you deserve to be someone’s bacon.

I really like this.

I've always felt like Hannibal has a god complex, and his cannibalism is part of that. Like "you are such a disgusting lesser being, I'm not only going to murder you, I'm going to consume you", and I'm glad Fuller seems to have the same take.

With how hard SMASH is ****ting the bed, NBC should really be considering dropping that **** in the thursday at 10 "deathslot" that NBC has going on right now, and put Hannibal on Tuesdays at 10. That way, it would also avoid going head to head with another crime series (Elementary) and ABC's rising star (Scandal).

Plus The Voice will be back on Tuesdays which should boost the live viewership of Tuesday night. Right now its a neck and neck for which night is the least watched. Even the competition is weaker on Tuesdays.
But this is NBC...

It's better than Dexter's approach of dragging it out forever.

I sincerely hope this show is nothing like Dexter.

I don't think it will be. Dex is basically a serial killing superhero. Lecter... not so much.

Yea, even calling Hannibal an "anti-hero" is seriously stretching it, IMO.

I mean, he does make an effort to take his sick fetishes out on rude obnoxious jerks, but he's a lot less strict about his victims than Dexter, and he's murdered some people who just straight-up didn't remotely deserve the gruesome deaths he dealt them.

He's cruel, vain, and arrogant. He's nothing like Dexter.

I was meaning more along the lines of general quality than characterization. Dexter and Lecter might kill people, but the similarities pretty much end there.

I've always wished we got somebody more like Lector on Dexter. We need somebody seriously ****ing twisted to just truly astonished Dexter.

If Lector went up against Dexter, that'd be the end of Dexter's show.

Well, in that regard, I think we're just going to have to wait and see. But, considering the source material, I predict a certain level of elegance, whereas Dexter is pretty much all pulp.

Nice!! (They are not in English language however).

Also, another one from NBC (named "Ring Ring): http://missydandylion.tumblr.com/post/44764831315/for-those-who-couldnt-see-it-before

I post this link and not the youtube one, because it is not available outside States.

IMPORTANT: Beware States fans, during "Grimm" this Friday at 9 Eastern Time on NBC, they'll be showing an extended preview as one of the commercials. :yay:

I just saw the trailer for the first time.

It's hilarious that it seems to imply that Crawford hires Lecter to assess whether Graham is crazy and dangerous!

this series looks like it's going to be amazing so far. dexter used to be my favorite "serial killer " show(certainly not so much now ), but i could see this easily replacing it.

the style itself (look, tone, etc. ) looks to be extremely dark, like if david fincher made a hannibal lecter show/movie. the trent reznor music in one of the previews kind of helps with that . lol
