Haven't been on the thread for a few days and it's interesting to see it has actually gone up since last I visited.

Now we're getting rotten reviews because it's not a next step?? I wonder if that person thinks that way consistently.

Being at 90% after a hundred or so reviews is a huge accomplishment. Congrats Dr. Strange.

11 more reviews, maintains the 91% and actually goes up on average rating!! This is holding up really well.

No way this ends up under 85% now.

Good to see it doing well! Anywhere in the 7s is a pretty good average rating

I hope people enjoy it at least as much as the critics seems to be.

I'll be checking it out tomorrow. :ds:

To me this is symbolic about Tomato Meter debates. Fans embrace the tomato score when it's high for a movie they care about, but dismiss the score and critics when it's low.

This isn't the subsection of fandom convinced that the critics have some sort of ulterior motive, so I'm not sure most would so easily dismiss critics and RT if the score were low.

There are four types of movies: universally well regarded, divisive, cult favorites and universally trashed.

Universally well-regarded: RT score 80-100%, these movies are accepted by most to be well regarded

Divisive: 50-79%, these movies are mostly considered average but people often argue about them endlessly.

Cult movies: 0-70%, these movies are considered mediocre to terrible but a small group considers them top level entertainment.

Universally trashed: 0-20%, these movies are considered a complete waste of time by mostly everyone.

I want as many MCU films to be universally well regarded as possible. A pretty reasonable desire if you ask me.

Rex Reed is not a reviewer I'd ever give the time of day to, no matter what he was reviewing. Getting a negative from him was a virtual certainty.

People want critics to well regard these films. But if they don't, they promptly reject and dismiss the critics.

People say they disagree with the critics or they're happy the movie is universally well regarded.

Seems reasonable to me.

This movie could be in the mid to low 70s, and it's still fighting to stay in the 90s, back up to 91. What a time to live in

We almost at 150 reviews and still @ 90% ...BRAVO!

If it gets to 200 and still in the high 80's that would be incredible.

Honestly though, I've only seen that coming from the hardcore DCEU fans, especially on Twitter.

"Who cares what critics think?" But then, "Doctor Strange doesn't deserve a 90% and I know this because I haven't seen it yet and because Marvel paid teh critix" :loco:
