The Dark Knight Dressing up for TDK

Hmm..Well..I'll just paint my face, joker style..I wish I could have made a collared shirt, tie and vest like the Joker's..that would have been perfect..but oh well.

Great scarecrow costume man!

So whos thinking of crashing the movies when the film comes out with you as the Joker and your goons?

But if you get permission first from the theater that you can kinda like how he crashes the party in the traliers exept without the guns.

Since I'm way too fat to be the Joker, I thought of dressing up as a hobo version of the Joker complete with poke. LOL :hoboj:

So I'm planning on going to a midnight showing of "Dark Knight" in IMAX in full Joker costume. I'd like to go to a bunch of thrift stores this weekend and begin buying the clothing, and would like some advice.

I'm using the Empire magazine cover as a guide (the one with Ledger in the jail cell). It looks like I'll need the following:

-Purple pinstripe pants
-Brown leather shoes (shaped vaguely jester-like)
-Multi-colored, clowny checkered socks
-Puke green vest
-Blue collared shirt (hexagonal or similar pattern), possibly vaguely shiny
-Weird patterned, dark tie

I'll also need a purple trenchcoat and a knife.

EDIT: And purple, leather gloves, too.

But what is that chain thing hanging at his waist? Is there a name for it? Is it connected to anything (knife, stopwatch, etc.)?

And am I missing anything else as far as the clothing and outfit goes?

What about a wig? All the green wigs I've seen are all bright green (like a real clown). My hair isn't long enough to dye. What if I were to buy a bleach-blonde wig and dye that with a crappy, dark green dye? Or black first, followed by the green dye? Would either of those options work? (I'm not too familiar with dyes, never done this before).

Make-up I should be good for. But what about the scar tissue around the mouth? What would you guys recommend for stuff to make a prosthesis from?

Any answers/corrections/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

For those that are going 'full-blown' dressed out - Touche'!

However, I am a minimalist and will carry the same theory I have when attending a concert: 'not being that guy'. What that means is, if I were going to see Pearl Jam, I wouldn't wear a PJ t-shirt.

Along that analogy, I will wear my Flash shirt - in support of DC. And that is all.

Hey guys, I've created a pretty close replica of that hexagonal shirt pattern.
Anyone want a peek?

I designed it in Photoshop Elements.

We've found the shoes, gloves, tie, and socks. Once the shirt is done, I'll be starting on the coat, vest and pants.

I'm interested to hear about anyone's over-dyeing experience...were any of you using cotton or wool pants? Or did you use a synthetic?

If I get this finished Ill probably be appearing at the theatre on Friday night.

The Friday it opens. lol

But I should have this done this weekend. Minus the actual boots, those wont be in until mid July.
