E3 2013 - Part 1

I think it's just they don't know what to do with him

Halo on the XBOX was great for its time, but after maybe Halo 2, other games came out and did everything much better, Halo stopped advancing. I mean Bungie has talent, dont get me wrong and they are responsible for pushing the FPS on the console, but Halo imo has been an after thought since its second game. With CoD and BF and even Killzone doing things as good as, or better than Bungie with Halo

Thats why i put these very important words in my last post: (AT LEAST THIS GEN)

Haha you always try to call me out and end up falling on your face man, c'mon now.
lol Oh no I wasn't calling you out or what you think I was doing. I just know when your noticeable and you were in the opposite camp with that to most people with Halo being called overrated. Seeing you say this is a surprise now.

lol oh no so I wasn't calling you out or what you think I was doing. I just know when your noticeable and you were in the opposite camp with that to most people with halo. seeing you say this is a surprise now.

Im in the same camp, Halo was HUGE for the industry when it came out and last gen really pushed online gaming. I dont think Halo always came out to praise it didn't deserve, but this gen? Not so much. Altho i guess one could argue, what else was there to do?

yeah i meant opposite camp of calling it overrated til now. I was in correct mode while you just answered me . Any way, it's cool I understand what your saying better now.

That seems to be the popular knee jerk reaction, especially amongst Sony fans, but i can almost guarantee you that wont happen. Hell i will bet ANY amount of money that they will not go away the likes of the Saturn nor are they on any "brink of destruction". People were saying the SAME thing when Sony announced the PS3 would be 599. THE SAME THING. And before you try and come back with 'well all they needed was a price cut', dont, its the same thing here. MS can easily disable these DRM policies, hell theyve already set up an out clause for it.

Again, im willing to wager anything that this time next year, Microsoft will have completely abandoned their always online DRM and the price will be competitive with the other consoles. They are not going to dig their heels in and watch Sony jog away with the their business, its just not going to happen and it doesnt take a Masters degree in Business to see that.

They're going to launch with all of these restrictions and theyll watch Sony jump out to a big lead and then the changes will come, that gap will close and we will get a console gen just like the one we had where both companies are neck and neck.

People just need to wait, dont jump on the XB1 train immediately.

I don't even try to guess anymore on how the consoles will do. Who would have guess the maker of the NES, and SNES would fall to the new comer in Sony? Who would have guess the maker of the PS1, and PS2 would struggle to get out of last place for 6 years before they finally got second, and be behind Nintendo who was in last place the previous generation? Who would have guessed Sony would actually crawl back up and start doing good sales after the disasterous PS3 launch?

There's just way too much going on, with each generation shifting around so much to guess. Will Microsoft pull a Sony, and genuinely listen to fan complaints, and change things around to win them back? Who knows. I wouldn't have guess the Wii would catch on with casuals as much as it did, the X1 could do the same...or not.

What I do know is this. Microsoft has burned some early adopters, as well as some of their diehard core, while the PS4 seems to have earned more good will than it had with the PS3. Xbox 1 is currently too expensive, and prices itself out of the casual range, but they can always change that, winning back good will, and good word of mouth can be difficult. They can turn it around, but it will require massive effort, and some humility from Microsoft.

It probably is too early to call it a failure right now. Despite how we feel about it (and the negativity does far outweight the positives), people were saying the same about the PS3, and even bad mouthing the Wii. I think the real teller will be how the media reacts to it closer to launch. If the always on invasive Kinect stuff, with Microsoft being listed as someone who gives the government info stuff makes it to the media, it can turn off adopters. If it's pointed out that the PS4 is cheaper, and more powerful, it can turn off adopters. If the used games nonsense, and always online is talked about on the morning talk shows, it can turn off customers. If however MS plays it smart, and keeps this info out of the news, and moneyhats talk shows to show off, and talk positively about the X1, it might not be so bad. If they turn off enough of the early adopters however, and continue to have core gamers badmouth it, they will end up having a tough uphill battle.

Attach your phone to your next-gen console controller for second-screen.

Both PS4 and Xbox One feature apps to take advantage of your phone as well as integration with games.

Wii U is losing it's special feature more and more. Wii's motion capture seemed awesome to casuals at the time, and it took MS and Sony years to fully catch up. Now, your Vita, or even phone can do the same thing as the Wii U's big feature.

I like touch screens, I'm glad their being included on gaming consoles. However it's just too much of a common feature anymore to be your big attraction gimmick. The PS4 controller will also have touch screen, and a share multimedia function, and a speaker, combined with a better hardware device. Sony didn't bet the farm on just one feature, and I think that's smart this generation.

It wont be as uphill as some think if they react quick enough. They're mirroring Sonys blunders from the start of this past gen. They're being extremely arrogant and are putting a value on their system that probably just isnt there. Im sure they thought they had a hardcore enough fanbase that would just 'deal' with all these restrictions(the same way Sony felt its fans would just deal with that price tag) and while we dont know for sure, at the moment that looks to be as wrong as it possibly could be.

Thats funny seeing how many people on occasion would say how halo was overrated etc and you were always in the opposite side when someone came in a thread and said that.

Halo was great until Reach, I even liked Halo Wars more. :( halo 4 was okay fun but generic IMO.

Games I was interested in before E3, and still am:
AC IV
Watch Dogs
COD Ghosts
Destiny
Madden 25
The Elder Scrolls Online
Forza Motorsport 5
Halo 5

Games I wasn't interested in before E3, but am now:
Diablo III
The Last of Us
Infamous: Second Son

Games I never heard of before E3, but am definitely watching now:
Driveclub
The Crew
The Division
Mad Max
The Order: 1886
Project Spark
Ryse: Son of Rome
Titanfall

Games that didn't have a presence at E3, and I'm still waiting for more info on:
GTA V
Rainbow Six: Patriots
Thief
Cyberpunk 2077

Game trailers had a demo playthrough of thief. Looks cool I like stealth games. Back on the old consoles when I told people about tenchu thief was always brought up. I never got around to trying it. Now the new one is coming out and looks good.

Rainbow Six: Patriots seems to have disappeared. :(

343 came in and changed quite a bit about Halo. A game like Killzone wishes it could be half of what Halo is. I don't want to put Bf and cod in comparison with Halo/Killzone because they're just a different type of game. They're like 2 different subsections of the fps genre.

oh i see well aesthetics I still feel it's unique in its own right. yeah it's futuristic looking cause of the armor and all but still has it own look.

But Borderlands? hmm ok that must have been cause when he picked up that chain Gatling gun weapon in the demo and tested it out. ok on in that sense.
The Borderlands 2 thing is all about the lay out of the game. It looks like it is going to be structured like Borderlands 2. Team up, loot, etc.

I think Microsoft's conference was their best in years but they still needed one more really big game. It could have been this Black Tusk thing if it was further along and annoyingly I thought that Halo reveal was going to be it. Stupid hiding Halo...that disappoints more than anything when you're looking for big new games. We know about Halo. Go balls out with that, not stealth! Save that for revealing something like an exclusive Destiny.
Agree completely on the Mircosoft conference. Especially the Halo bit. I was so excited and then they showed little to nothing.

Ya know I actually really disliked Destiny. It bored me to tears during the conference. I was much more interested in Titanfall, but I like the Mech aspect to it. Hope it comes to PS4 sooner rather than later. But yea there's a lot to look forward to
Pretty much this. The talking was also cringe worthy during the Destiny bit. Titanfall on the other hand has me very interested.

That's what i meant with that sentence it was in the way he picked that weapon as loot. He had to defeat the character he was fighting against first to pick it up when he picked it up and went around testing it out afterwords. I did fail how to mention the co -op part how ever. I just really didn't word it right at all

I really don't get Capcom's thought process on Megaman. Even after not releasing console titles for him for decent stretches of time, he still has a large, vocal fanbase. They just refuse to listen.

Even if they were to just release 2D PSN, and Live releases, that would be better than nothing. Reboot the Megaman X series with HD graphics, improved gameplay, and more content, and release it as a digital download. It wouldn't take a massive team, and it would probably sell well. Why you would continually sit on a popular franchise, with fans begging for a new game, and do nothing is just mind boggling.

This is more of a gut instinct, but my guess is that Capcom wants to become more of a western style company, and leave some of it's Japanese gaming roots behind. Megaman probably clashes with that the direction they want to head in. I'd imagine their fighting games are the only exceptions to the rule, as SF is just too popular to leave behind.
I don't know what it is, but it bothers me. Megaman not being MVC3 is ridiculous. Same with him not having his own series or at least HD remakes.

To me Titanfall looked like a crappy early this gen game. Next to no desire to play it, honestly.

"oh look.. Call of Duty.. With mechs... Great"

More or less my response to what I seen.
Pat had the perfect response.

And Destiny looks like Halo sans Master Chief. Even the aliens look like they were pulled straight from that fiction.

Altho iv always felt Bungie was severely overrated as was Halo(at least this gen), so when people started to speak of Bungies next game, i just kinda had the "big deal" attitude.
I agree Halo has been somewhat overrated this gen. Though, I loved Halo 4 and enjoyed Reach and ODST quite a bit. Halo 4 has me so excited for the future of the series.

Ah, I see. Sorry I misread your post. :yay:

lol As I just said it's my fault for not wording it right

A game that sounds so amazing but has disappeared from the Earth. By Rockstar.

Ah.
Yes, looks and sounds interesting. Too bad it's in development hell.
Speaking of Rockstar development hell, another one that was definitely on my radar but vanished without a trace is "****e of the Orient." No news there, either.

This needed to be shared

Oh yeah, completely forgot about ****e of the Orient. Was looking forward to hearing someone announce it and say the title out loud lol.
