E3 2014 - Part 1

Nintendo was the biggest fish in the pond back then. Now they're the smallest.

Gee, I wonder why. Maybe it's because they made a system no one wants to develop for?

A system so underpowered, even their own games will be inferior to what they could be on a more powerful system.

Yeah.. Who else were these 3rd party devs going to develop for? Sega?Lololol.

Nintendo was the only real player on the market back then. Sega wasn't actual competition.

Give it a year. If Nintendo pushes out a lot of Nintendo only games and they market it right. A LOT of homes will have a WiiU. Hell those figures alone will sell systems to homes with Skylanders obsessed kids.

Oh modern Nintendo fans. Enjoy last place.

Let me know how Watch Dogs is in winter.

Prior to the release of the Playstation, Nintendo was gaming. There was no actual competition. Once Smash Bros, the new Zelda hit the Wii U will be fine. MK8 sold incredibly well. They've got a new Star Fox on the way too, which will definitely be a seller. Throw in a new 3D Mario game a la Galaxy and the Wii U will be exactly where Nintendo wants it.

There wasn't really. Once the SNES hit the Genesis was an after thought. I didn't know anyone with one.

You do realize that they sold 40 million of them right? Nintendo would be lucky to get half that with the Wii U.

While I think many of you have good points, I think you guys are underselling Sega and the Genesis. That system had alot of support and it did do well. I dont think its quite fair to say they werent competition. They were during that gen.

Inferior perhaps if the only thing you value in games is raw graphical fidelity.

Even still, if that's all you're looking for, I would argue that Nintendo's supposedly inferior games on the Wii U rival anything comparable you're seeing on PS4 and XBone.

Thundercrack confirmed for mad.

This. Say what you want about everything Sega did after the Genesis (except Dreamcast, talk **** about that and I'LL FIGHT YOU), but the Genesis was legit.

I think they do now. But in a year? Two years?

There's more to it than graphics, but the Wii U is a 7th gen console, only with more limited online capabilities. In a year, even run in the mill PS4 / Xbone games will blow away Nintendo games in graphics. Not to mention online play.

I really can't see how people can defend this console. It's a mistake.

I think Nintendo should ride it out, but people here pretending like third party support is irrelevant, are just out of touch with reality.

We all know a game is only a game if it has online and good graphics.

I've played games online with the Wii U and have had no problems. MK8 online is a blast

PS3 graphics and... Xbox Live?

My point is there were amazing games being made before hyper HD graphics and online play. Online is actually hurting gaming IMO. Online co-op and multiplayer is added to sell more consoles. Nintendo is at least still supporting local multiplayer because they know people actually *gasp* like to play a game in the same room as others. Online play and great graphics do not mean a game is great.

I'm pretty much OUT of online competitive MP and I agree with you that it's hurting games... I've grown to understand that I can not, for the most part, stand the people that play games online. They tend to be the BIGGEST group of *****e bags on the planet. Give me online co-op with friends in a game like Diablo or couch co-op or *gasp* single player only stuff.
