E3 2014 - Part 1

Yeah. I meant PS3. My finger just goes to the 4 now. The PS3 was the "third console curse." Sony fell hard from #1 for a while.

Ah I see! Yeah they definitely did. Pricing a console so damn high shows that they didn't look at things from the gamers' perspective. Hopefully Sony has learned from that. I fear though about this "virtual reality" device. I can tell already that it will flop hard! Looks pretty terrible from what I've seen. Funny, now that Microsoft took a step forward when it comes to Kinect (that is: away from it).

Sony shouldn't get too confident. They have a lack of games to PS4 so far. They should really show more of Uncharted 4, The Order etc. as soon as possible!

Itagaki's the Devile's Third is now a Wii U exclusive. Good to see he found the funding to finish the game.

Hmm I don't funding was the full issue but I let him explain it whenever he talks about the problem.

Sunset Overdrive looked a lot more interesting now I must say. Greg raised a good question though: it looks like this explosive playground etc. but what about story? I'm far more interested in games with great story.

I'm also not a fan of the enemies you face. I must say those are some of the most uninspired enemies I've seen.

Other than that, it looks much better than I thought after the presentation. I realised that it's not the graphic style itself I dislike, but rather the enemies you face and the setting (tivoli). Perhaps it will be like games like Hulk: UD where the main fun comes from simply screwing around and be destructive in an open World.

and it's funny, I read some articles saying Sony won E3 because they focused not just on games but on other stuff, whereas MS focused just on games.

contrast that to last year when MS was criticized for NOT focusing enough on games.......

yeah............

last year, I think it was fairly clear that Sony won. but that was more do to MS shooting themselves in the foot.

this year........it's much harder to declare a winner. It really comes down to personal taste. Which means......something for everyone!!

Really? Wow.

It is amazing how some people can be blinded.

All are winners, tons of great games revealed and fans win, tired of #1 crap

Are you sure? When THQ shutdown, Itagaki didn't have a way to finish the game. That is what has been taking so long, or at least that is what I thought.

I really like the looks of Fable Legends.. Yesterday I was like "eeeeh.." But after today I'm pretty excited to play it.

There's nothing wrong with the XB1 at all.. It's still an EXTREMELY successful system. 5 million units sold (I believe) is nothing to scoff at. Keep in mind before this gen launched MANY were saying consoles were dead and that this console generation was a flop, that it was "too soon" and all sort of crap.

MS's main problem was last year they focused on the wrong thing (Their E3 show last year had a TON of games.. they were just overshadowed by their poor format) and price. That's all gone now.. I know a LOT of people getting an X1 now. All my friends that got a PS4 have said they now have a reason to get an X1. The SDF is out in full force after MS showing yesterday.. Not saying you are part of that (serioulsy, I'm not) but the amount of crap I've seen being talked about MS show yesterday just makes me want to kick people in the face. All I heard last year was "WHERE ARE THE GAMES MS!!!111" This year they show us 90 min of games and fanboys are out in droves "Meh, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING."

Drives me nuts.

Oh yeah. MS did a good job...I think they will do great at Christmas...
I still won't be buying one. But I'm sure they are gonna do great.

they said he had enough money to finish it himself with his studio. but he wanted a publisher regardless partner wise, this is why I said I'll let him speak himself when he's asked . It's better that way. let him do the clarifying. so much happening right now

Zelda will win all.
Hopefully this is the first main Zelda title to live up to the hype. It feels like it has been a long time. After "A Link Between Worlds" and Wind Waker HD, I am craving it.

Ah that makes sense. Thank you for the info.

What changed your view point?

The gameplay certainly looks great. But idk if I can get behind that main character design. Saw mention of character customization, hopefully it wont be confined to multiplayer.

The thing with Sony and Microsoft last year was that Microsoft was more concerned with pushing its own policy despite fan rage, and Sony capitalized on it. Microsoft learned from this over the past few months and delivered what "gamers" wanted and their conference was stronger this year for it. Sony also played it safe, but they seem to looked inferior because of the excitement they caused last year. I'm still definitely going to get a PS4, and while I know I'm not getting an X1 ever, as a consumer, I'd be much more open to it now more than ever before.

The time spent on LBP was deserved. Trust and believe it is one of their BIGGEST IPs. The series sells better than Infamous, Resistance, Killzone, etc... Seriously the only Sony franchises that do better are Gran Turismo and the Naughty Dog games. Its the second best selling Vita game and at the top of the charts for both PS3 and PSP. They likely have a guaranteed multimillion seller with LBP3. It has a VERY active community and is a cash cow for Sony. Them showcasing it the way they did, letting people know its coming soon and what to expect was probably one of the better parts of that show. You may not get it, but its huge
Oh I understand that completely. For me it's more I dislike the game so much, it pisses me off how much everyone loves it. It's the same feeling I have for Sponge Bob. :oldrazz:
Asteroid Did you play LBP or LBP 2?
Yep, and I hated it. It was like a souless, juvenile ripoff of indie games for the sake of being "quirky" and "odd".

LBP is absolutely NOT for everyone. Some people love it some hate it. I don't LOVE the game but I can see that it's a well made game. I can also see why people would be completely turned off by it.

What changed your view point?

Just seeing it being player in depth. I get what they're trying to do.. This isn't a main line Fable game. It's pretty much a dungeon crawler with a bit of RTS thrown in. I'll be keeping my eye on it.

These games aren't about their characters or their stories. They're about goddamned action, action up the butt and around the corner. I mean, honestly, Ryu from NG was a fairly generic looking ninja with no real personality to speak of. But **** it, the gameplay was so tight. So, so, so tight.

Hopefully this is the first main Zelda title to live up to the hype. It feels like it has been a long time. After "A Link Between Worlds" and Wind Waker HD, I am craving it.

So, do you feel that no main Zelda title has ever lived up to it's hype?

I see. Indeed it's not for everybody! I love it though!

These are the top 5 games shown at E3 that I'm looking forward to the most right now.

1) Uncharted 4 (We didn't see much but just hearing Drake and Sully again, with the lead directors of UC2 and TLoU making this game, it's the one that made me the most excited)
2) Batman: Arkham Knight (The most impressing presentation for me, they incorporate the Batmobile flawlessly it seems, Gotham looks like the most stunning and cool free roam map in all time, and that Scarecrow!!)
3) Mortal Kombat X (This simply looks like so much fun!)
4) Rise of the Tomb Raider (As with UC4 we didn't see much, but I love the previous game and this trailer got my heart pumping)
5) Far Cry 4 (Great trailer, looks great, the villains seems really cool)

Some games that disappointed me a bit judging from their presentations:

1) Little Big Planet 3 (Looks rather like a LBP 2.5 with new "characters" just for the sake of making it look new)
2) Scalebound (Right, we didn't see much but I expected to be hooked immediately by a PG game, and this presentation didn't do anything that made me excited at all)
3) Battlefield: Hardline (The Michael Bay of games. Eh...)
4) The Order 1886 (It raised my hopes a little bit but I still expected something more. Looks pretty and boring)

If Hardlines is the Bay of games.. At least I know I'll be bloody entertained.

Just seeing it being player in depth. I get what they're trying to do.. This isn't a main line Fable game. It's pretty much a dungeon crawler with a bit of RTS thrown in. I'll be keeping my eye on it.
Good to hear. The first trailer hooked me, and I have been excited since. I am hoping it turns out strong.
