Here in Toronto, the Scotia Bank Theater playing SW7 all night, first time ever for a movie, and in IMAX no less.

2am and 630am show added.
2:30am and 7:15 am shows added

and it's 2/3rd sold already, this is insane. I'm tempted to say F it, 300 million OW.

Deadline is reporting we have a new record of Thursday preview's: 50-55 million.

100 million opening day is a done deal, might even reach 120 million.

I am SO pissed. When you buy tickets for the Friday date, it shows the 5:15AM show for SATURDAY!!!! So I'm not going today (but am awake at this ungodly hour). I'm going tomorrow morning. Arrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh...............

I went to print my confirmation and it says Saturday. I HATE Saturday.

I hate Saturday and I hate the world. Why would they put a Saturday date on the Friday selection? I may not be the brightest bulb in the socket, but I can tell the difference between Friday night and Saturday/Friday morning.....oh, except I can't tell the difference when they put Saturday in the Friday selection.

I don't know if I'm more pissed at; myself or the jackasses who grew up without a calendar.....oh, wait, I know. I'm more pissed at them.

Dat's crazy!

If it gets in the 120M range, it's going to just blow by 200M. It would probably end up somewhere around the mid 200s.

Everyone!!!! Listen up!!!! Put those shopping carts away and go to the movies!!!

It would be impossible to go a day without seeing multiple Star Wars references. Car commercials, billboards, the weather report, fricking Star Wars ice cream for god's sake.....we're all certifiably insane. The merchandising is off the charts.

U.K. Box Office: 'Star Wars' Opens With Highest Single-Day Gross

U.K. and Ireland fans have ensured record-breaking opening-day box-office revenue for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"The film enjoyed not only the biggest opening day of all time, but also the biggest single day in U.K. industry history," Disney said Friday.

The movie brought in an estimated $14.3 million (£9.6 million) on its opening day in Britain, "setting a new U.K. and Ireland industry record," the company said. Midnight screenings alone accounted for $3.6 million (£2.4 million), smashing all previous records.

The 231M predicted by box office mojo is based on a 95M Thursday/Friday. I was looking at Avatar numbers for the first week and came across something very unexpected. Avatar only dropped about 20% M-Th from the weekend numbers. After an OW of about 75M, it pulled in about 60M M-Th.

At this point, 250M OW does not appear to be out of play. I would expect TFA to be much more front loaded than Avatar, but "if" it pulled in 250M OW and "if" it dropped 40% M-Th, that would give it a total BO of about 400M in the first 7 days. That is well past halfway to Avatar's final tally.

Do people think 400M or thereabouts is on the table? I feel kind of crazy even suggesting it, but....the numbers appear to possibly be there......

Avatar didn't start the strongest but it's word of mouth kept it from dropping much at all week to week for a while. Same with Titanic.

ETA: Also, my theater was completely sold out last night. Every showing.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Hits $50 Million-Plus Thursday Night in U.S.

The Force is already setting a U.S. record with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” taking in $50 million to $55 million in opening Thursday-night shows, preliminary estimates showed.

If the estimates hold, “The Force Awakens” will easily beat the previous Thursday-night record of $43.5 million by Warner Bros.’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” in July 2011.

The U.S. showings of Disney-Lucasfilm’s “The Force Awakens,” directed by J.J. Abrams, began at 7 p.m.

The cast includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o and Domhnall Gleeson along with original “Star Wars” stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher.

In a sign of sky-high anticipation, the seventh film in the iconic science-fiction franchise had set a record by selling more than $100 million worth of advance tickets domestically as of Tuesday — raising expectations that “The Force Awakens” will do more than $200 million worth of business on its opening weekend domestically. The current record for a launch weekend was set in June by “Jurassic World” with $208.4 million.

The marketing campaign has triggered plenty of pent-up excitement for the return of Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca and Han Solo, plus the new characters and story line. Disney, which paid more than $4 billion for Lucasfilm in 2009, had been downplaying expectations, but rival studios and industry analysts believe that “The Force Awakens” will open to $210 million or more.

“The Force Awakens” is set 30 years after the events of 1983’s “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.” The film will be in a total of 4,134 North American locations on Friday — a record for a December opening.

“The Force Awakens” also debuted in a dozen international markets on Wednesday with a total of $14.1 million at the international box office.

The film, which carries a production cost of at least $200 million, opened in 32 additional foreign markets Thursday will open in most other markets Friday. It could eclipse the international opening weekend record of $316.1 million, set again by “Jurassic World.”

Yeah. It's second week was essentially the same as the first (including the M-Th numbers) and the third weekend drop was under 20%. Avatar was a completely different animal than TFA and we won't see those kinds of holds, but if you start out in the mid 200s, you don't NEED those kinds of holds.

I get the feeling this is gonna be well clear of Jurassic World for the weekend number. Like over $250m. There wasn't this kind of hype for any of the recent big performers.

No matter what, it should have legs. It's a the best Star Wars movie in 30 years, and there's little competition.

Seems poised to post big numbers in Japan's OW, possibly record-breaking. Hong Kong and South Korea less so seemingly.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS international 2-day total is $72M.

Unlikely. People will be watching it multiple times. Word of mouth and all that, also.

Count your blessings. Between last minute Xmas shopping, picking my daughter up from college, and my 2 sons both having 2 school basketball games this weekend I don't know when I'm going to have time to see it...:csad:

Tonight I guess I'll binge watch episodes 6-8.

I know. If this was the middle of the summer, I think it would be a cake walk at this point. But it is still the weekend before Christmas, so a lot of weekend travel and shopping.
