LOL^^ Oh man.

Or specific dialog, scenes, etc. We don't know how extensively the movie was rewritten last script.

That's part of plot points. Wright probably had something in his script that went against something in a future project Marvel was planning. However, that could be anything from a specific scene to just simply him not wanting Lang and/or Janet in a future Avengers film.

From Adams twitter: "And yes, met w/Marvel. Kirby & Lee r my Lennon Mccartney so it was awesome. But have other projects I'm committed to. Not sure it can work."

Too busy, as I suspected. If you look at his IMDB page he has a ton of stuff going on under the producer tab.

I'm sure this won't stop anyone from assuming the worst though.

All movies starring Will Ferrell.

I am still going with D'Esposito.

Im looking to see how many directors balk at this production. we'll know better when its either left vacant or picked up soon.

Right now I dont think Wright left because the script was terrible, I think he left because of the fact they changed some of it without his say so. They wouldnt be meeting with directors at all if it was junk.

At this point I'm thinking that one of 2 things will happen:

a: Zombieland guy or the other guy will become the director, or
b: They delay it more, maybe even to 2016.

Marvel didn't want to have to wait for Michael's son Dylan Douglas to play old man Pym. :oldrazz:

Reality check: Noone who buys a ticket to Ant Man will care if Wright left because of plot points that werent exactly as he wanted, all they care about is if the film is entertaining and if its another great MCU installment.

My take on this: Wright turned Ant Man into something it was never supposed to be and when Marvel altered it to fit in with their universe, he split because it wasnt an Edgar Wright film anymore. Theres no other explanation why the guy would leave. As I said before, Marvel has the final say of what they want. Its not Wrights place to dictate anything.

POSTER WILL READ: Marvel's Ant Man, not Edgar Wright's Ant Man or (Insert Directors) Ant Man

I totally agree with this though I suspect it has different implications for us. Marvel needs as many unique directors as possible, so it's a shame they lost someone with such an impeccable track-record because they couldn't find a common ground.

The GA won't care who directs the film, but I expect a lot of film-fans are going to remember this as a massive missed opportunity. I can only hope the replacement has some interesting ideas and is given the freedom to implement them.

^^ sure but the deciding factor will be if the film is great or not. People can overlook this situation if its a really well made, entertaining film.

You know who's got some time open now?

This guy!

He just wrapped filming The Rock on Hercules. GIVE HIM ANT-MAN MARVEL!

I read on badassdigest that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were offered Ant Man, and they turned it down immediately.

I can understand why. Aside from successful directors not wanting to pick up another director's castoff -- which would make them appear inferior -- it's also morally comparable to scabbing. Most Hollywood types are on the nominal left, they would rather not be scabs.

I think most are turning it down due to it being so late in the game to get their vision into the film since Marvel is on a tight timeframe to get it done. They basically have to hit the ground running and I bet most directors don't want to just be thrust into a major film with no prep time.

Here's the thing.

Marvel has already selected the cast, the script, the sets, and everything is storboarded. This is a job for director in name only (DINO), and according to a lot of fans here Marvel are experts, as such the movie will be great guaranteed, probably better than what Wright wanted to make.

Therefore, by that logic, this should be seen as a golden opportunity for aspiring directors. They don't need to hit the ground running, they're walking onto a rolling carpet.

^^ Nicely put! I dont think there needs to be much more vision at this point. Most of the work is done. Also without any personal problems due to the script being altered, the new guy should jump right into it.

That's why Louis D'Esposito would be the perfect choice. He's already the second (or third) in command and has directed two of the One Shots. He would adhere to Marvel's standards.

:funny:

It's understandable that someone would be hesitant to come aboard this close to cameras rolling. I said as much several days ago. Even if everything is sorted and ready to go the guy in charge needs time to familiarize himself with the project and that certainly doesn't happen overnight.

Dude, stop antagonizing the Marvel Studios fans. Okay, we get it: you're not a fan of the way they make movies. That is a fine opinion, but provoking the fans for thinking Marvel might still produce a quality movie, or make a film that is better for the MCU than Wright would have isn't constructive. Please, lighten the attitude. This is not the first post of yours in here to do this.

It's looking better for D'Esposito everyday.
