Ant-Man Edgar Wright's Ant-Man - Part 1

I thought we could list some of Edgar's possible influences for Ant-Man.

Comics - The man in the ant hill. Edgar read a reprint of this and Marvel Premier 47 - To steal an ant-manas a kid and brought his copy of it to To steal an ant-man comic-con a couple years ago.

Films - Phase 4. Edgar watched the film as a kid on TV. He listed it as one of his favourite obscure films.

Phase IV scared the bejeezus out of me as a young child. It's not really a horror movie, but it's got plenty of psychological weirdness. It freaked me out for years.

I would count Earth's Mightiest Heroes as part of his research. I don't know how much of it he'll use, though.

More Ant-Man stuff related from Edgar's Website.

Still at work with Ant-Man co-writer Joe Cornish

i get the feeling that the beginning of this movie is going to be very strange and very memorable.

What's that supposed to be?

Is the yellow goo supposed to be urine?

the figure kind of looks like Michael Douglas if you squint. otherwise, I have no effing clue what this teaser means. is that supposed to be one of those roach motel glue traps, he's stepping on?

maybe the opening scene/Pym's origin is done in stop motion.

Edgar Wright just had a pretty funny tweet to Empire:

@edgarwright: Dear @empiremagazine, how about just one character cover for 'Ant-Man' that's seemingly empty. (Include a free magnifying glass to see him)

i would feel cheated. but i'd still buy it.

It's glue, fer cryin' out loud.

That's probably a crude plastic model Wright is using to storyboard/map out scenes for the movie. Looks like Douglas' Hank Pym Ant-Man suit, minus helmet.

i dunno. the legs don't look like he's wearing the suit from the teaser. almost looks like a hoodie. but i do think it looks like Douglas (more than Rudd); by the hair. i wonder what that hallway is supposed to represent. that's a weird looking building. i guess that it could be that hallway from the teaser. i can't really make out what is behind him. i guess it could be elevators.

Just a minature storyboard model imo, altho I can see how the yellow looks like ants swarming around his feet and up his leg. Also it just looks like a guy in a labcoat to me. It's certainly not a model of douglas, I don't think they go to those extremes.

if you look behind him you can see Venom

maybe it's Scott kind of looking around Pym's house.

No, it's definitely not Scott Lang's Ant-suit (the one in the teaser); but I think Hank's prototype will look slightly different. The plastic miniature has a "V" thing going on with the lapels that reminds me of Pym's classic red and blue Giant-Man suit from the 60s.

or Wright might just be having a laugh at our expense.
