I thought the film was good. I enjoyed this more than oblivion. It was nice seeing cruise play a slim ball trying to save his own skin before slipping into the usual action hero routine.

Cool seeing Franz drameh from attack the block battling aliens again. I also noticed Lara pulver from BBC Sherlock standing next to cruise at the end.

According to a Tweet, she had a lot more screen time that ended up on the cutting room floor. It was good she was in there, and got credited too.

I haven't watch neither Groundhog Day nor Source Code. I guess I'll do that in the near future.

Both are good, especially Groundhog Day. However, to me Groundhog Day is so depressing at certain points that it's hard to watch

I finally got around to watching this.

Amazing movie.

Loved how Cruise went from a coward to a complete badass.

Also re-living the same day until you overcome overwhelming odds was alot of fun. I'm not sure what about the concept is so appealing but I also loved the way it was done in Groundhog Day.

Not a fan of Source Code though.

HA, I watched it for the first time on Friday, thoroughly enjoyed it as well, especially the bolded part.
Very clearly shown when he demanded the extra ammo and battery for the suit, his eyes compared the first time he suited up, great acting.

Never watched Source Code...

Doug Liman's a pretty good director. The Bourne Identity is great, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith ain't bad either. He stumbled a bit with Jumper, but Fair Game is pretty good.

I have high hopes for Splinter Cell.

Doug Liman gave us The Bourne Identity, that alone makes him a great director! But I'd say Edge of Tomorrow is his best film yet.

I was saying the very same thing in this thread just before the reviews of this movie came out, I never had any doubt it would be a good movie, and it was beyond that, it was superb!

Liman's Bourne Identity is still the best Bourne movie for me as well.

I loved Identity, but the way I see it each film surpassed the one that came before (in the trilogy). The Bourne Identity set the tone, but my favorite in The Bourne Ultimatum. Came on, that fight was a thing of unique beauty.

I really liked this. Did anybody else feel like they referenced a lot of pop culture stuff in this movie? The structure and story were both good, but the parts that made it a little more enjoyable than most action movies was that it felt like the director included a semi-commentary/nod to random pop culture stuff. Most notably for me is that there seem to be a lot of influences related the process of playing video games, but maybe that's just me.

A lot of people have called this movie the best video game movie ever.

Only it's not actually inspired by a Videogame. But the elements are definely there. It's very "Gears of War", "Call of Duty" and "Halo"-ish.

I personally feel the opposite with Bourne movies, I thought they got worse as they went on, I found Ultimatum a bit disappointing really, and still find the 1st to be the best, slightly edging out Supremacy.

Yeah, exactly. It's cool to see on screen, that non-linear kind of feeling where it imitates how it feels to get things wrong 50 times and work out how to get it right. Just that novelty already makes it more engaging than most of what's out there in terms of Sci-Fi /Action movies. I didn't know about it being based on a Manga until recently, but it makes a lot of sense now. There are a number of elements in the movie that are reminiscent of things that often occur in anime/manga and for some reason it really reminds me of the Final Fantasy franchise.

This might be reading waaaay too much into it, but the Ford character has almost exactly the same premise as Cloud from FFVII.

^Not to mention Rita's buster sword is similar to Clouds, though not as big obviously.
