Elfman is Working on the Music

All those genres, you think the man would give something different musically at some point.

Beetle-Juice
Batman
Spider-Man
Men In Black
Sleepy Hollow
Scrooged
Hulk
Edward Scissorhands
Pee-Wee
Flash
Dick Tracy

It all sounds pretty much the same to these ears. :o
not in my opinion, Elfman does a different style of music in different films. in spider-man he does action, romance, suspense. I don't think he's repetitive because his music sounds different in every movie that he did thhe music for. If it was repetive I would know it but trust me, it isn't. Elfman's music represents the hero that spider-man really is and I don't think anybody should doubt that.

Most composers have a distinct style, that's what sets their work apart from others'. Williams, Goldsmith, Horner, Elfman, and Zimmer are all pretty easy to tell their work. The only modern composer whose style, I think, differs with each movie is Howard Shore.

Indeed, but forget the Lord of the Rings movies, this guy scored Mrs. Doubtfire:cwink:

From IMDb

Howard Shore and Danny Elfman have both formed hit bands (The Blues Brothers and Oingo Boingo, respectively). Both scored a film for Tim Burton (Shore scored Ed Wood (1994) and Elfman has scored numerous Burton films). Both scored a film for Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Frighteners (1996), respectively). Finally, both scored a Hannibal Lecter film (The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Red Dragon (2002), respectively).

Wow, really didn't know Shore had anything to do with the Blues Brothers, that's awesome!

Well... I meant modern in that he's still composing film scores today and keeps busy.

Well...so does Morricone and he's been composing movies since the early `60s. When you said modern I thought you meant people who've been in the business for 10 years or something. You know...the new kids on the block.

I'll admit, I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands last night. It took no more than a minute for the angelic choir and the flutes to kick in.

Oh well, he still kicks ass ;)

Well...so does Morricone and he's been composing movies since the early `60s. When you said modern I thought you meant people who've been in the business for 10 years or something. You know...the new kids on the block.
Okay...so I just used the word wrong. I've been brain-dead lately... The more appropriate word would have been current not modern.

You're kidding, you mean there was nothing new, I don't believe you, not Elfman?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the best work Danny Elfman had done since Men in Black in 1997. Even though Elfman did a lot of great stuff from `98-04, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, surpasses them all.

I loved the Oompa Loompa songs Danny did for Charlie because it was basically 21st Century Oingo Boingo.

Good stuff

well of course. elfman is the best at what he does, he has done great on films scores and I think one of his best was spider-man1 and 2. I mean he did a great job with Men in Black's score and with Edward scissorhands score as well. I also loved what he did with the music in the Evil dead franchise which just happens to be very good suspensful music in that film I must say. I never actually saw Charlie and the Chocolate factory but from the music I heard in that little clip, I think that must have taken a great amount of work because it sounded great and right on track.
