absolutely stunning

Finally saw this. My favorite part was when the two guys danced for 1.5 seconds and homophobes around the world collectively soiled themselves and went insane.

I mean, it didn't even involve Luke Evans, Jesus... :whatever:

I would actually love to see a gay version of beauty and the beast. During production there was a story about one of the composers who wrote such beautiful music for this because he was HIV+ and for him it was a metaphor for being a beast because he thought no one would love him.

If I saw two guys dancing while Emma Thompson sang "tale as old as time..." I would ugly cry everywhere

I know I am late to the party but I FINALLY saw it this weekend, wow that is an amazing film I loved every min of it.

It's so good. Can't wait for the next Disney adaption

the only live action one I have not seen is Cinderella but of all of the ones I DID see BATB is easily my fave of the bunch.

#10 all time domestically, #17 WW in terms of box office.

Let's say BatB will make 495M Dom (or more if it has double feature with GotG next weekend and has 1% drop like the Cinderella + AoU combo)

OS minus Japan is now 616M after 23M weekend so it might make 30M more for 645M

Japan will contribute about 100M

So total is around 495 + 645 + 100 = 1.24B for No 10 WW

If it makes 120M in Japan and holds better in other OS market against GotG then it has a shot for 1.277B, passing Frozen for No 9 WW and No 1 Musical.

Btw BtaB has a really wide appeal OS with 3 markets making 85M+ (UK, China and Japan). And a musical making 85M in China is a big achievement, probably because of Hermione and Downton Abbey was very popular there.

They will walk it to 500m if they have to. They shouldn't have to, but if they have to they will.

At 1.14bil, and now the #9 domestic film of all time at 480m.

Emma's not having much luck with the merchandise. That Hot Toys doesn't do her any justice.

At least it looks a great deal better than the mongoloid Bieber doll.

I was thinking, does this movie have the happiest ending of all time?

I mean not for gaston obviously but screw him.

I mean everyone is happy, everyone is in love. Gay, straight, black and white and then we finish on a dance and a song. Happiest ending ever

i'm sure the three gaston fangirls didn't have a happy ending

As someone stated earlier in this thread (DS?), it's not a happy ending because Belle took the plague-ridden rose rattle back with her when the Beast took her to her childhood home. The whole castle is doomed. :o

I think they were sisters.

What I want to know is, why does Belle describe it as a "poor provincial town"? It actually looked very prosperous and large to me, they had a massive market that was packed with people who mostly looked pretty well-to-do. I don't think a poor town could support the fancy millinery run by the mother of the three Gaston fangirls.

Just poor communication between Ashman and the Animators. :p

If I had to take a guess, looking at the dictionary, "provincial" isn't *just* "of or concerning a province of a country or empire"... there's a 2nd definition which is (emphasis by me) "Of or concerning the regions outside the captial city of a country, especially when regarded as unsophisticated or narrow-minded". So that's the definition of provincial that Belle is probably using. As for "poor" she's probably not meaning in the financial hardship sense but more that their narrow-mindedness makes them of 'low or inferior standard or quality' and/or that Belle pities them because of that narrow-mindedness.

Just my personal take on the meaning of that lyric.

Maybe they mean poor culturally? Like no museums, galleries, theatres etc. idk. I wouldn't want to live there

Just found out that our local drive-in theater is playing a double feature this weekend, with this movie along with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. So looks like we'll be seeing it for the third time!
