Do not underestimate the Chinese thirst for Vin Diesel...

Glad that BATB is doing so well.
It definitely deserves its success.

Just got out and all I can say is wow. 9/10. Just as good or maybe even a tad better than the animated film.
The be our guest scene in this topped the animated one for me.
Luke Evans was great as Gaston, as was Josh Gad as Lefou.
Ewan McGregor killed it as lumiere.
The scene with the servants dying was very sad.
I would definitely see this again.

Saw it today before seeing Power Rangers. Thought it was really well done. Didn't care for Luke Evans' singing but that's minor.

Luke Evans nailed Gaston, his voice was outstanding, best singer out of the main cast by a landslide.

I loved how they showed Maurice taking the rose so it was more logical that Belle took her father's place as prisoner since she asked for the rose.

Also was the female narrator's voice in the beginning Angelina Jolie's???

kudos for a very good film, enjoyable for families for sure.

so did all the film actors do their own singing?

I believe the father stealing the rose is from the original fable. I liked that they included that.

And I think the narrator is Emma Thompson?

I'm pretty sure the narrator was the Enchantress.

If Doug Walker is your benchmark for "sensible critique", then you got more important things to worry about than liberal feminist and Disney worship.

My idea of a liberal feminist movie is not a movie where a girl is captured by a monster and falls in love with her captor. I love the story but not a liberal feminist story.

And as for Disney worship the reviews for the film were not great they were mixed positive overall. Of course the most important people meaning the average filmgoer really enjoyed the film so Disney don't care that they didn't score a 90%/7.5 rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It pulled in another 88 million over the weekend. Wow.

I wouldn't doubt it, but is it just me or does the Circle look terrible? I never read the book and I do admit it's an interesting idea in this day an age, where most people seem so willing to give up privacy for "Internet fame", but the trailer did the movie no favors. The dialogue seems off.

I might just see it though because it's Bill Paxton's last film :( RIP

If Disney said Le Fou was gay in this after a while it came out would anyone have honestly noticed ? Because all I saw was a character that was just loyal to his friend granted a bit tooooo loyal but loyal none the less & the dance scene at the end was nothing to cry about either. Im sure in that type of dance other dance quickly danced with other dudes for like 2 seconds people just singled out Le Fou
