If Disney said Le Fou was gay in this after a while it came out would anyone have honestly noticed ? Because all I saw was a character that was just loyal to his friend granted a bit tooooo loyal but loyal none the less & the dance scene at the end was nothing to cry about either. Im sure in that type of dance other dance quickly danced with other dudes for like 2 seconds people just singled out Le Fou

Initially no one at Disney said anything, but after screening for press/ critics words got out that LeFou had a "gay moment", Bill Condon and Josh Gad were asked and reassured people that it was small moment. After that there was all the "Disney should keep it quiet", "If Disney didn't mention it no one would have noticed it", etc., even though director and actor didn't comment (unprompted) on anything, they were asked about it first.

Not yet). But anyway take $480-500 millions in USA.

Oscar nominations for set design and costumes seem pretty certain at this point.

But the set and costume designs in the French La Belle et La Bete were far superior and the costumes more authentic looking imo.

Yes, the rose stealing was in the original story, but not in the animated Disney version.

Weekend actuals are in, and it make 90.4m over the weekend. Big second weekend.

The WW total after 10 days is 693.5m. It will go well over 700m today. A billion WW and 500m domestic are definitely on the table.

You hear that, that's the sound of Disney hurrying the little mermaid, aladdin, and the lion king up.

I haven't seen Audra anywhere but Private Practice/Grey's Anatomy. It was kinda cool seeing her in this film for a change!

Only just got around to seeing this one with my boyfriend (I had to bribe him with food) but OMG... I cried so hard. Never thought I could get that emotionally attached to CGI furniture but hey ho... I learned something new about myself.

I'm seeing it again on Sunday with my girlfriends so hoping I'll be able to keep it together next time.

10/10 for me and most of that is due to nostalgia satisfaction and I'm not even sorry.

Strange that its Tuesday totals went up from the previous day both weeks it's been out. Are those discount days?

Yeah, this'll sit safely at #1 until Fast and Furious 8 comes out.

Ok I'm listening to the official soundtrack. My God it sounds 10x better. Emma Watson sounds more defined. I'm not hearing any auto tune IMO. And I been listening all day with Bose headphones.I think what people were hearing was compression from the audio. I'm actually surprise how good it sounds on the soundtrack. You really hear the effort and passion in these songs. That's just my opinion but you guys should definitely check the Album.

^That dress is absolutely gorgeous. I bet a lot of future cosplayers will be wearing it.

So did the servants "die" because the Beast died, or did they "die" because the rose lost all its petals and the time to end the curse ran out?

If it's the latter, does that mean that if Belle hadn't come along, at the end all the servants would have "died" and the Prince would have spent the rest of his life alone in the castle as a beast surrounded by the inanimate objects that used to be his servants? Because that seems pretty harsh...

[BLACKOUT]The latter. The rose would still have lost all of its petals had the Beast not been shot. You answered your own question with that second part. Lumiere and Cogsworth told as much to Belle. They really did get the raw end of the deal there.[/BLACKOUT]

Every time I look at the numbers I still can't believe that there were actually people who believed that a Beauty and the Beast live action remake would make less than a Jungle Book live action remake. I mean the movie was always guaranteed over 400mil domestically and over a billion worldwide.

I mean everybody makes bad predictions but fanboys routinely underestimate blockbusters that skew female. It's a problem.

Speaking for myself, I never thought that for a minute.

Yeah there were plenty of people who realized how beloved the Disney version from the 90's was but I saw some who were in denial about it. And I didn't get it.

Listen I didn't know how popular Deadpool was so I'm not pretending that I always have my finger on the pulse. I don't.

Going into the weekend it is at $766,516,842 WW, $347,916,842 of that domestically. It is going to easily pass a billion and should also could pass 500m domestically if it keeps its current pace.

Yeah for those that didn't get it, this is what you were missing. :woot:

True. Not sure what the Enchantress' purpose of killing the servants would have been. I mean, the Prince obviously would still be a Beast forever but at least he'd be alive. The servants basically got a possible death sentence and they weren't even directly involved with what happened.

Mrs Potts said it herself, they watched the Prince turn cruel and heartless and did nothing to stop it.

True, but did they deserve to die for that? Even Chip, who was a child and couldn't have done anything to stop the Prince? The Prince is the one who actually was cruel and heartless and he would have been allowed to live.

I get that Disney wanted a really dramatic scene right before the big transformation segment, but this seemed pretty heavy-handed on the Enchantress' part. The servants should have just stayed cursed forever like the Prince.

The Beast backstory was dumb and the movie didn't need it.
