Well paced? The passing was all over the place, slow yet rushed, with jumps and plot holes. The movie wasn't executed well

[SPOILER REDACTED] It felt hollow and empty.

I edited out the massive spoiler you dropped when I quoted this, but it's not that hard to take two seconds to tag maybe the biggest spoiler of the movie in a clearly marked non-spoiler thread when some people here have still not seen it, and thought this was a safe thread, as it is marked TAG SPOILERS.

It's not that hard to take two seconds to be considerate. Or to act like an adult.

Here, have a couple points counting toward the ban you'll get sooner rather than later if you keep it up.

Act like an adult? Okay Shclosser, come on. I totally understand where you are coming from, and I appologize for missing the rules, but I find the authoritarian tone, the low blow, and the condescension a bit unnecessary. I have been here as a solid loyal poster for almost 10 years, haven't received as much as a warning during that time span. I made that post when it was 3:30 in the morning after returning home from the film feeling disheartened, I just didn't think of that. I'll gladly accept the warning for breaking the rules, but with all things considered, I'm not accepting the condescension.

I always obey forum rules, even in the more recent rare days I post, and I'll continue to do so next time I'm here. Thanks for the edit.

I don't watch many films in the theater (not a fan of crowds, and it's petty expensive for me) but I've watched every single Marvel movie in the theater, other than the Antmans and Iron Man 2 when my father in passed on while we were buying the popcorn... So I'm a bit of a fanboy.

So to say I was satisfied but slightly disappointed is a little sad for me.

Not to go too deep into why, it was a little too... much. Which is not actually a criticism as such because it was the nature of this beast.

Plus as a roaring Thor fanboy, not a fan of how 'far' they took him in the direction they did.

Lots to enjoy though.

My gf is the same way, hates crowds. I love a lively theater though. I'm sorry to hear about your father though :/

There are about 20 extremely active threads about Endgame going on rn and it's very easy to get confused where to tag spoilers and not. And I don't think there's spoiler button so one has to type the spoiler tag manually each time. Also given the fact that none of the moderators were here for large part of the day and regular users were here reminding people to tag spoilers I too found that post directed at you very harsh

It was an honest mistake, made at 3:30 in the morning. I understand the consequence of my post. For all I know, maybe he was having a bad day, or one too many spoilers, overtired, idk, and took it out on me. That's fine, and he has a right to that. I just don't appreciate being spoken to like that in that sort of authoritative tone. I work as a casework for a mental health agency, on a team of other caseworks and clinical supervisors. There can be some critical, much more serious mistakes that can happen, which have, and the way these supervisor's have approached them, to me, seems like the proper way to warn, etc. But this isn't work, you can expect people to act the same. All you can do is accept punishment, advocate for yourself, and move on.

I appreciate the support though

I don’t think so. It’s opening weekend. Revealing what happens to characters should automatically tell you that it should be a spoiler.

Posting isn’t a right, it’s a privilege. Honest mistakes happen but you should have gone back and deleted that post once you got called out on it.

What also isn't a right is moderators talking to people like that.

I would have had I seen it. I was asleep, and didn't see being called on it until this morning AFTER the warning. I totally agree with what you are saying. I just don't accept being spoken down to like I'm some troublesome idiot after an honest mistake on a message board.

I dont want to take up any more of the thread with this though. So, back to reviews

Copied and pasted from the Cinematic Civil War thread:

Overall? I liked it. I was very surprised by how emotionally engaged I was at points. There are two moments toward the end in particular that are worth the price of admission alone. I’m sure you all know exactly what they are.

But, honestly...this film is a ****ing mess. The plot makes no sense. None. Thinking about it for more than a second makes the entire thing unravel. There was some shockingly sloppy storytelling on display and it really drags down what could’ve been an amazing experience that could’ve rivaled TDK. As it stands, I don’t think this will hold up as a movie on repeat viewings. It kind of only works if you either turn your brain off or view it strictly as an emotionally satisfying end to this era of Marvel Studios.

I’ll say that there were some...interesting decisions made with certain characters that I personally wouldn’t have made. That doesn’t make them bad, I’d actually argue that they work okay in context, but...can’t say I liked a lot of them.

Oh, and I know I say this a lot about Marvel movies, but I REALLY feel that it applies here...a lot of the humor was misplaced.

IW is unquestionably the better movie. Like it’s not even a contest for me. And there are several other superhero films - from both Marvel and DC - that are better than Endgame overall. But the highs of this movie (AKA the entire third act) eclipse every other film in the genre (that I’ve seen). And that’s no mean feat.

7/10.

I appreciate apologies. Unfortunately I just got out of the movie and the massive spoiler that was dropped really hurt my experience. I don't understand how a mistake like that could be made. I really hope that I was the only one who's experience was damaged by this

I’m currently seated for a 12:30 3D showing. Theater was almost empty at first but now it’s filling up.

I made myself piss twice and I hope that’s enough.

My only gripe that really stand out to me (I'm not thinking about the time travel stuff) is
Cap passing the mantle to Sam. I know Sam was Cap for a time in the comics, but Bucky took it up first. I think it would have been more meaningful and respectful to pass the mantle to Buck instead.

Movie was ok/good. I expected more, but the time travel stuff really bogged it down and just created a whole slew of problems and kind of goes against the logic they laid out. While I enjoyed this film for delivering the comicbooky moments and things I've waited years for, the more I linger on the time travel stuff the more I dislike it. IW was much better.

6/10

It honestly only felt like. 2 hour movie. The last hour flies by.

The people who made this accomplished the hackiest and silliest ending to a superhero franchise ever. Even worse than Batman V Superman Dawn of Turds.

This review pretty much matches my views on Endgame.

"Hackiest"? :whatever:

What was so hacky about it?

The third act where they have so much CGI going on, things become incomprehensible? that third act? I don't understand how anyone could get joy from that last hour. It's just cramming every damn character into the frame and doing it with over the top CGI crap, I literally got a headache. I thought this movie would be bold and do something different. Instead it went for the generic predictable third act Star Wars Episode 1 battle sequence and it was stupid. Also, Captain Marvel barely did anything at all and I was hoping they'd utilize her in a smart and unexpected way.

Didn't the X-Men franchise do this time travel thing to death? Why do it here? Was it the only option for these hacks? I swear to god, the people making these movies must be total knuckle draggers.

Same.

I literally just posted something in the dislike thread about it. The more I think on this film the more that whole sequence continues to irritate me. It's just "stuff" happening, but on a technical level it's horribly concocted. There's not a lot of rhyme/reason and very little strategy. Feige seems to mandate these types of sequences a lot in the MCU.

I remember when Thanos ship started firing into the clouds I was like "Alright, who are they going to randomly cram in here next?". Ironically it wasn't anyone new, but again it was CM popping up in a sequence out of nowhere for the second time in the film.
