So I guess I'm an idiot, but

How did Tony get the Infinity Stones away from Thanos' gloves?

The writers put subtle nods to every MCU movie from the past 11 years, so I'm sure they were paying attention.

Why would their roles need to be reversed?

Tony finally made the sacrifice play that Steve said he'd NEVER do back in Avengers. This shows that the character has grown. And Steve has literally saved the *world* like 5 times. He spent a lifetime on ice after making that same sacrifice, and then he spent 10+ years being a hero. Doesn't he deserve to live the quiet life with the woman he loves?

Your point agrees with mine...not sure why you seem to be arguing against it. But you're right...there is no need for their roles to be reversed.

6.5/10

I was so excited to see this, but left afterward feeling fairly disappointed. Clunky script, ill-conceived character alterations, uncomfortable pacing with some parts dragging and others feeling rushed, sizable plot holes, and not enough levity/humor. The script should not have made it to screen as-is. It seemed like it was thrown together by a whole new team, as it lacked many of the elements that make the best MCU movies so enjoyable. This average-at-best finale was subpar to what audiences have come to expect from this series. Still, for fans of MCU it’s worth a matinee just to see the effects on a big screen and finding out how they wrapped things up (albeit disappointingly in many cases). That said, if you have a nice TV at home, you may do just as well to wait for it to hit streaming services and/or DVD.

With
Steve Rogers being written out, I wonder if he'll still be referenced in future films and especially as some stuff must be retcon with Steve going back and staying in the past. There may be some clues of changes like easter eggs in Spider-Man Far From Home where you think "wait...but.."

question for y'all.....
so is Thor part of the Guardians of the Galaxy now? that would be sick

Wow you felt there wasnt ENOUGH levity/humor? There was a certain character in this movie where all he did was bring comedy to the film at inappropriate times.

Well...
as explained in the movie travelling to the past and changing it creates an alternate timeline. So when Steve jumps back at the end its initially to return the stones and Mjolnir back to those now alternate timelines they had visited earlier (as all were altered by them being there, if only a little with Tony & Steve's jump to 1970).

So whatever year Steve settled on to stay with Peggy (likely not long after he went in the ice) that became an alternate timeline too, so nothing in the MCU history was changed, so no rectons needed.

Whatever happened in that life Steve had in the alternate timeline we can only speculate about, but it looks like he brought Howard Stark's version of the shield back with him to give to Sam.

Okay, just had my second viewing.

On reflection I going to change my vote upwards.

I loved the first Act, enjoyed the second act ( which on my first viewing I found a bit poorly paced) and of course the 3rd act was just great. Is it really perfection? Well no, but what movie is ? However I will say that it is far more Return of the King than Return of the Jedi in terms of being a fantastic conclusion.

So I'm amending my vote to 5/5.

After letting this film sit with me a few days I can give my overall thoughts. This was a very good movie with an incredible final hour. It's not a masterpiece however. The beginning of the film was very clunky and sloppy. Some of the science was convoluted. And some of the decisions I didn't agree with. With that said this is peak Marvel imo. They will never have another film with this level of hype. I will give Marvel credit for having a definitive ending. Robert Downey, Jr. gave an amazing performance. And he leaves behind some big shoes to fill. The original cast brought their A game. Still not sold on CM. One can hope the writing improves for the character. The final hour is full of spectacle and fan service moments. There's a good deal of pay off for these characters. Endgame was a film 10 years in the making. Despite the problems and many plot holes of the film it was a rewarding experience to say the least.

Saw it, enjoyed it.

But I really feel it should have been Bucky talking to Old Steve at the end and Bucky who should have been made Captain America. It's Bucky who's supposed to be Steve's closest friend.

And if Steve goes back and marries Peggy, what about the guy she was supposed to marry? Didn't he mess up history? And if Steve stays in the past, wouldn't he go rescue Bucky since he knows he's alive and in Russia?

I loved Endgame on my first viewing and just got out of my 2nd viewing and was able to take in so much more even with the crowd being louder than the first. I simply love this movie and can't wait to see it a few more times. They really went out on a high note. The 3 hours just flies by, even moreso on the 2nd viewing.

I needed to see it a second time under the influence to make my final conclusion.

Aight, I hardly ever share my thoughts on these films in a review type of way. Last I did was for BvS and even that wasn't really in a review (linked in my signature)...

As people have said for years, the MCU has been like a TV series on the big screen or chapters of books. This was pretty much like a season finale in some ways (like the past Avengers films) and like a series finale in others. The only thing that comes to mind in comparison is JL/JLU and how the use of characters changed as the cast grew.

Anyway, if you've seen enough of the MCU films (episodes), you kinda know what you're gonna get. With that in mind, I thought this was a good ending of an era when it comes to how things "ended" for these characters. A good ending for The Avengers as we first saw them in the first film and for where the team (and MCU) goes from here.

The film itself, I thought was good/ok when looking at my feelings ranging from what I didn't like to indifference to what I loved.

I'd share my thoughts on the various characters but I'm too lazy.
