Ending of One More Day?

This is by and large the stupidest and most inane thing they could have done, though pathetically par for the course from the people who have been bringing us Spider-Man comics for the last few years.

Oh well; add it to yet another portion of Marvel that has none of my interest and all of my disdain.

Why are people ok with this?

If [BLACKOUT]MJ becomes Jackpot , then there is the hope for all the fans who want the title to be the Amazing Spider-Man and MJ. Because part of the problem has always been that you can't involve MJ in the action. If people end up liking the character of Jackpot (and by liking, she would have to sustain at least a mini all by her lonesome), [/BLACKOUT]I guarantee that they'll be back together.

On a side note, when DS first did that story featuring Jackpot, I didn't immediately get the joke. Some kind of Spidey fan I am :o :

Why are people NOT ok with this?

Unless the rumors of Gwen and Harry coming back turn out to be true, im not seeing what the big deal is. The only thing that made me a little ansy was the prospect of MJ getting powers, but in the confines of the possible storyline it actually sounds interesting. Espacially since i know Slott is going to have a turn writing it.

And the marriage has, for all practical purpose, ended before with MJ's "death"...do you seriously think it's over this time for good?

I think this the dumbest idea in SM history, heck sins past actually made more sense than this. There is just too much history there to erase. Mary Jane is THE driving force behind Peter's will to keep on struggling. When he's getting the crap kicked outof him and about to bite the big one, he thinks of MJ and how she would feel if he was gone and finds some inner strength. If this in fact true, i hope it only last for a short while, then MJ reveals herself to Peter, who logically, wants her back in his life and she loses her powers.

They are erasing nearly twenty years of character history, established and developed long before most people in this very thread even began reading comics in the first place, with a magical retcon punch. How is that possibly not a big deal? Doesn't it occur to you that there are actually people who enjoy Peter and MJ's marriage and have been pissed since the very beginning with Quesada using it as a scapegoat for the series' numerous valid problems?

And just because some writer might come around after the end of Quesada's regime and redo their relationship doesn't make this undoing any less stupid.

MJ getting powers is the absolute least problematic portion of this process.

problematic portion of this process

Say that five times fast. :o

Anyway, that idea is fooktarded. And to make matters worse I got Dan Slott to look forward to after this story. :cmad:

Oh, so you're under the impression that this is somehow going to be permanent, and Peter and MJ will forever be seperated...ok. :whatever:

I dont see 20 years of continuity being erased as much as "put on hold". And this frees the writers up to tell different types of Spider-Man stories instead of the typical "villain kicks Spidey's ass and is about to kill him, until Spidey thinks of his love for MJ and then finds the strength to come back and win" crap we've been getting force fed ad nauseum for WAY too long now.

But yeah,; you guys go right ahead and pout. Meanwhile i'll be reading kick-ass Spidey stories by Dan Slott. :word:

If MJ gets powers, we'll have to start calling her Lois... or Jimmy

This is a stupid waste of time that we all know they're going to retcon eventually, so I'm just saving myself some time and reading stories that aren't going to piss me off until there's a sign that the character is going to be involved in something interesting AND worth buying.

Well, Loki owes Peter a big favor....not sure if/why Mephisto would be involved, but last issue a little girl with red hair appeared before Peter with an offer, and the red hair made me think "Mephisto"...

It's PHOENIX!!!

(kidding, folks!)

Yeah, it frees up writers to do creative things like have a "villain kicks Spidey's ass and is about to kill him, until Spidey thinks of how poor old Aunt May is depending on him and then finds the strength to come back and win" story. That would be sooooo different and creative! (And you know that's what they'll do.)

Twice within 12 issues after One More Day finishes.

As much as I love Spider-man and Dan Slott I won't be reading Brand new day.I just can't bring myself to accept this.As others have said it's not the marriage that has screwed spidey up but badly conceived stories.I'll be reading Spidey TPBS and back issues from now on.

No offense but this isn't like when Agent X popped up in Deadpool. There's nothing to suggest that it ever will be undone. And even if Peter and MJ do get back together it doesn't undo or suddenly make this one more day event ok. You're fine with them 'returning' Peter to his status quo by strip minning his character of years of history all so we can see some 'new stories'? Like how Marvel did so well exploiting the new stories that could have come about with Peter as a teacher, or even his unmasking? THey flubbed those as well, and the problems with Spider-Man these last years has had nothing to do with the marriage as other people have illustrated. How about instead of making a stupid retcon, they actually had their writters do a concept justice, that's a far bigger issue then the marriage is.

I hope it's not permanent, although I could easily see it being 'permanent' for the duration of Joe Q's reign as EIC. Either way, I'm not reading ASM until Pete and MJ are back together. :)

MJ will become the Next Avatar for the Phoenix force and Peter and Wolverine will end up fighting for her affection.

The Phoenix loves those redheads. Is it possible for a cosmic entity to have a fetish?

3). Placement on the world's premire super team, everyone knowing his ID, and hanging out with superheroes in secret bases, basically, the ELIMINATION of any sort of civilian social life.
Personally, I think that these were great oppourtunities to move forward with Spider-Man. Marvel unfortunately screwed up on them.

The spring of Dan Slott on ASM will be vibrant and sweet; it is just a shame we may have a helluva cold and bitter winter to get there.

I'm really hoping that Slott will touch upon baby May Parker and that someday, MJ and Peter will return together.

Zeus seems to have a thing for the barely legals. Also beastality (when he's the beast, no less).

I hear being married to Hera will do that to you

Edit: Now I'm imagining Zeus lie All Bundy in Married with Children
