So how many movies and TV shows will have Kang as the villain? W
I think versions of Nathaniel Richards may show up a lot.
- Multiverse of Madness
- Quantumania
- Loki Season 2
- Fantastic Four
- one or more Avengers movies (Avengers: Forever and/or Secret Wars?)
- Young Avengers
All of these have a potential role for him going forward. I think he may be similar to Nick Fury in the sense that he could appear in a multitude of different franchises within the MCU. Also interesting that he may be the first villain that combines the frequent appearances of Loki with the overarching big bad role of Thanos. He could truly be the next great villain
Why are people calling him Kang? Kang is just a variant among millions. Technically, we haven't been introduced to the character yet.
Yes, agreed. This version of Nathaniel Richards calls himself He Who Remains, so I think it'd be good to use that to refer to this version.
That's true but Kang isn't going around with a giant horned helmet or with clown make up.
Imagine how ridiculous would have been if Thanos or Red Skull acted like the Kang variant we just saw.
Not yet but he does generally have a blue face and a big purple helmet so I'm not sure how that's supposed to be a reason for why a version of him can't act like this.
So we still don’t know what the “King Loki in Asgard” footage is all about. I wonder if it was actually part of Sylvie’s nexus event.
I also think it was unused footage showing what Loki could receive when Ms. Minutes talked to him in this episode.
I didn't write it off, but there was just too much Kang. Now, the part I got wrong was I thought the variant Kang we would see would be He Who Remains but also called Immortus. I got that Immortus part wrong....kind of. He had a costume that evoked Inmortus and Immortus likewise was afraid of other Kang's, so he kind of had some similarities to him. But yeah, nailed that he was trying to stop other Kangs and that he was going to be known also as He Who Remains. I like how they combined several time travel concepts into a more streamlined idea here
It had crossed my mind that they might combine Immortus and HWR briefly among many possibilities, but it wasn't my main prediction. But yeah, they definitely combined elements of He Who Remains with Immortus.
They are all Kang. Well, Nathaniel.
They're all Nathaniel, yes. That's his birth name. They're not all Kang. Kang is just one name some versions take for themselves while others don't. He Who Remains, Immortus, Iron Lad, etc. probably wouldn't like being called Kang.
No, not the one we saw. But Loki still acted like that while not wearing the horns and Joker without makeup so I'm not sure what your point is.
No, they did. Much like Sylvie is Loki, He Who Remains is Kang. They are both the same person, just variants of one another.
They are both Nathaniel Richards variants, but they are not both Kang. I would say variants are pretty much by definition not both the same person. They only have partial shared continuity so they're something on a spectrum between being the same person and being a fully distinct person. Sylvie is a variant of the same entity as Loki, but she's clearly not the same individual for the most part and she does not go by the name "Loki". We have not seen Kang yet, the same way we had not seen Sylvie yet before this show.
I thought Kang was supposed to have blue skin.
Kang usually has the blue face (usually it's his helmet, but some versions it's his skin). This Nathaniel Richards variant was not Kang though. Like many other of his variants and aliases through time (Immortus, Rama-Tut, Scarlet Centurion, Iron Lad, Mister Gryphon, Victor Timely, etc.) he doesn't look blue.
I agree they took elements from Immortus, they didn't call him that. Let's just go with He Who Remains for now.
Usually, yes. Though there are versions of him with actual blue skin, like this one where Immortus mutated into a blue skinned Kang on Earth X.
