Error Code (aka The Great PSN Easter Outage of 2011) - Part 1

Bought LA NOIRE Tuesday. ****ing thing keeps switching off my system after a certain amount of time. All my other games and films work fine, EXCEPT THIS ONE, so it's clearly not my system. Don't buy the game. Hell, I'm actually taking it back tomorrow to swap it out for a pre-order of the Balls Of Steel Edition of Duke Nukem Forever instead. Seriously, **** Rockstar Games and their incompitance with this situation. I've NEVER had this kind of problem with a game or seen such incompitant behavior from a developer in my entire life.

My copy has been working just fine. So, it's either your copy of the game (bad disc) or your system reacting to the recent update.

I have had zero issues with my 60gb PS3 and LA Noire (or any game for that matter). I'll test it on the Slim in my kids room later today.

Yeah, I've been playing LA Noire for the better part of 3 days now, with no problem. It was weird though because I had to download an update this morning that read LA Noire DLC, but I don't see anything new in the game.

It's not the game, it's probably the 3.61 update.
Try this: disconnect from PSN, keep offline, then play the game.
It worked for me while playing MK.
Disconnecting from PSN allowed me to play Resistance 1 this morning after it locking up at the initial loading

Your kids get the slim? they have a wonderful father.

I have a slim,I've had no problems with any game at all!!

I finally got down to play L.A.Noire on my 120 gig slim just after I got promoted to detective and was investigating my first case (bloody blue lincoln) my dvd rom started making really loud noises it got so bad I could not hear the people talking (thank you subtitles) I exited the game and it was quiet again. I hope that was an isolated incident my slim is just barely over a year old so no warranty I hate to see what it would cost to replace a faulty DVD rom drive :(.

I think that was what happened to my PS3 when it broke down, cost me about $150 to send it in to Sony and get it repaired.

i've been having a few problems with LA Noire. Upon inspection of the disc, it looked as if the manufacture took absolutely NO care at all in handling the disc. It was scuffed and smeared all to hell. I took it back, got it replaced and haven't had any issues since.

Yeah, I figured it'd be in the house of billions. Not as much as I thought.

Billions? Oh no, there's no way it was going to cost that much. I mean, a billion is....a ton, even by nowadays standards. I did figure it would be more, though.

Weird.

^ Mentions the hacking attempt, but it falls outside of the fiscal year range.

(The PSN outage was from April 17th - May 15th roughly.)

Now, they're still projecting, but the first PR doesn't attribute it specifically to the hacking. And words like "Based on information currently available.. currently known.. estimated.. " doesn't look good. Especially since that was the same type of corporate speak they fed everyone for the last month.

The details of the consolidated results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011 and consolidated results forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012 are scheduled to be announced on May 26, 2011. The above forecast has been prepared using preliminary year-end results which are based on the information available at the time of issuance of this release. Actual results may differ from the preliminary results due to a variety of factors.

I guess we'll have to wait until May 26th for the real numbers or to see how well they can hide the loss :D

Damn.

My system is out of warranty...I've been thinking about purchasing the Sony warranty on they're website. I'm thinking it'd be worth the trouble, just in case.
