Error Code (aka The Great PSN Easter Outage of 2011) - Part 1

Exactly. I called it earlier in this thread. It doesn't matter what Sony offered as compensation, because whatever it is, it's not going to be "good enough". They could have offered everyone a million dollars, and the response from some people would be, "Only one million? I wanted two million."

I don't want to "blame the victim" or whatever, but I feel like certain kinds of people use situations like this to wring as much free stuff out of it as possible.

My personal opinion is that I think this welcome back package that Sony has put together is pretty damn generous. Especially when you consider what their competitors probably would have offered if the shoe were on the other foot.
They definetly offered alot more than I expected them too. In this thread I said it would most likely be a crappy PSN game that no one wanted, and they went above and beyond that. I honestly didnt expect to see any retail titles on this list.

I was right about their freebies, either old stuff I already had or crap I didn't want to clog up my hard drive with.

Wish I could just get $15 PSN.

Oh, I agree people would have *****ed no matter what.

But, if there had been an Uncharted, or MAG in there along with LBP, inFamous and R&C...I think LESS people would *****.

Never would be enough, though. Sony can't exactly make up for what happened. All they can do is try and win over some good will.

A $20 PSN card would have been nice. I say $20, because that's the minimum I've ever seen for purchase in stores.

There are $10 PSN codes you can purchase on Amazon. Sony can deposit any amount they want to everyone's account. They arent limited to what the retail cards sell as

You can order $5 directly from PSN. That's how I usually get mine.

I haven't played any of the choices so I'm alright with them. Quite honestly i would've been happy with any choice they offered, even if i had owned/played them before. This unfortunate event is a hard lesson learned for them so I'm just glad i could play Killzone 2/3 again. As for the choices I'm gonna get Infamous and Dead Nation. They both looking interesting and Nation just looks crazy with all those Zombies. On the bad side though if thats what most of the game consists of then it might get repetitive quick:o. Hopefully thats not the case....

I wish Burnout Paradise was a free game. Everyone should own/play that. I still do.

I gave it away. Don't care for Racing games.

Worst thing Burnout ever did was getting rid of the crashes.

Yeah, Burnout Paradise was like an "open world" racer that you could pick whatever you wanted to do at anytime... including crazy, over the top crashes. It was, and still is fantastic.

No, Like Burnout 3 where you're specific goal was to crash, and cause as much damage to the surrounding area as possible.

Just running into s**t is boring if you're not gonna get anything for it.

I guess I will get Infamous & Dead Nation. When can we download these ?

Question for you guys.
I bought my PS3 the day of the outage. I never signed up for PSN. Will I be able to get these free games too?

what do you mean? Burnout Paradise was all about crashes

He means the crash mode from the previous games, which were essentially a puzzle where you set the crash in motion and tried to time it correctly to get the most points. Paradise had the not-so-great crash time where you just rolled around trying to continue crashing for as long as possible.

That said, Burnout Paradise is one of the best games this gen, imo.

I think I read something about it being for people who bought it after April 20th. But seeing how you never registered for PSN, you most likely weren't affected, so I'd say no, you can't.

My fiance has an account on my PS3... So will she get to choose 2 games to d/l too?

Is it another PSN account though? If you guys have separate PSN accounts that you use, then yes, you should both be given credit.

Turns out Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru will have specific "Welcome Backs". I live in Brazil, and I don't know if what counts is my brazillian IP or my fake account on US. I guess it's the first, so probably no free InFamous and Wipeout for me.

I really wanted Killzone 2, but I'm not confident that we'll get games on this Welcome Back for my country.:csad:

Are you talking about MediEvil?

My head just explode due to nostalgic factors!

Yes it's that game! :woot:

Order from Sony? From they're website? Or on PSN? I prefer to get the cards, both with PSN and XBL. Just never liked putting my credit card into both systems.

I've seen some of those, but they looked like they were from other sellers. I wonder if they were cards that Sony used to have at retail stores. But, yeah Sony could just automatically drop $5 or $10 or whatever. That would kinda allow people to get something else of they're choice.

Then again, you'll get people who will complain it's not enough for whatever they want. So, it'd probably not even worth trying. I'm just looking at it from the POV of trying to win back some lovin' with free stuff.

I hope so.
