Eternals Eternals at the Box Office

$4.3 million Wednesday.

‘Clifford The Big Red Dog’ Opens To $2.3M Wednesday, Gets ‘A’ CinemaScore – Deadline
Disney’s Eternals posted a $4.3M Wednesday in first place at 4,090 locations. The pic’s weekday grosses have had solid holds to date with Monday earning $4.2M and Tuesday $5.25M. The running total through six days for the Chloe Zhao directed feature is $85.1M. The MCU title is expected to be down -60% to -65% in weekend 2 from its $71.3M opening with $25M-$28.5M.

60-65% would be in line with a lot of blockbusters. So not a disaster. 65%+ is what we're looking to avoid

It’s rough for a Marvel movie that doesn’t have any real competition in its 2nd weekend though. I feel like anything in the 60s is rough. I don’t know why 65% drop would be ok but 66% is worrying. Seems like splitting hairs.

Because it is all about what is and what isn't in normal range. 65% isnt great either, but worst drop for MCU so far was Black Widow with 67%, and that had a D+ disadvantage. If this posts about that, not good. The MCU has had a few 60%+ drop movies. Not a ton, but a few. So it happens

I think it would have hit 30+ in a normal week, but Veterans Day burned off a couple million in what likely would have been weekend sales.
Hopefully that means any missed numbers from that are made up later in the run.

That NA drop is slightly better than expected. Hope this keeps the Disney suits happy enough that this is an IP worth revisiting
