Evil Dead (2013) - Part 1

Finally saw it twice (Saturday by myself and then yesterday---hey when a friend offers to pay...I'm there.)

Not going to get too spoilerish, but as a fan of the originals, hearing some tidbits (Diablo Cody) and after another friend bashed the film...I was ready to hate the film.

But I greatly enjoyed it, one of the better remakes.

I don't hate her or her book of work per say and actually love quite a bit of it...but I tend to think her work is more a acquired taste.

Just got back seeing this, loved it, a great time at the cinema with some outrageous gore scene's and a great central performance from Jane Levy, a woman I barely knew about before seeing this.

I like the originals but am not a huge fan of them, though I love Bruce Campbell in general, yet this re-make/re-boot whatever was great, much better than what I was expecting, and the last 20 or minutes were just amazing, I had a big smile on my face throughout those last moments, especially

"feast on this mother-****er" before Mia jams the chainsaw in the evil girls face

, amazing stuff.

There were some problems, the acting was poor in parts, though never from Levy, who was amazing, and the characters did make some silly decisions, though it is a horror movie. Overall though, a great time at the cinema and one of the few good re-makes as well, 8/10.

Reading through this thread it seems apparent Rodrigo90 that you have a "slight" crush on Jane Levy?

I can see why, she is a cutey pie and judging from this movie a very good actress as well.

^Well, Levy is great in it so you will enjoy her performance, if you are an Evil Dead fan you should love the rest as well.

I must say I do not understand the hate for Diablo Cody. Like seriously, at all.

I thought Lou Taylor Pucci did a fine job.

Really I found none of the actors to be particularly bad. I think they all did pretty well with what was given to them.

I personally didnt think any of them were particularly bad, they all performed the roles they given, and adequately at the very least, Levy just stood out as the by far the best of the bunch.

She also had the most to work with, but man did she nail every aspect of her performance.

She didn't have a whole lot to go on. I honestly didn't know until after the craziness had already started that she was in a relationship with Shiloh Fernandez's character.

I think I forgot she existed for a long stretch of that movie.

No one was glaringly terrible, Levy was just incredible. The rest all had bad moments, but overall, given the type of film it was, they did a good job. This wasn't Schindlers List, guys.

I really didn't have a problem with anyone's performance, it's just that blondie got nothing to do until her arm got cut off. She was really minimized compared to everyone else, for whatever reason.
