Evil Dead 4?

http://www.elpais.com.uy/110717/pespec-580367/espectaculos/uruguayo-detras-de-un-film-de-culto/

Federico Alvarez talks Evil Dead (in spanish), here is a small part of the article, i used google translator and changed some bad translation (i speak spanish but my english is not perfect, sorry :o):

"With Rodolfo we suffer as anyone when they make a bad remake," said the director in respect of the criteria deal with Sayagués, his friend and partner.
"We realize the mistakes that we must not make. As fans of the original we know what we are going to offend those who are also fans and what we will not bother you, but we can not make a movie just for them."

The script is now in hands of Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter for Juno, who is a fan of the original and had some meetings to exchange ideas with Alvarez.

"Usually when you have a new project in Hollywood they hire a writer to make two versions and then make a polished this is two or three more weeks of work"

"We have a pretty decent English but not to give realism to the dialogue, in our case it was essential to do that."

If all goes according to official plans, on Halloween 2012, will be released its own version of that classic.

"Especially among fans nobody wants to see a celebrity in a remake like this,"

[BLACKOUT] Anyway in the work plan of Sayagués and Alvarez who partially wrote the script in Punta Rubia, Uruguay, is not covered by a second film, or at least would not have an open-ended.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]The only recognizable face is Bruce Campbell, but will be in a cameo towards the end of the film.[/BLACKOUT]

Another thing that will change is the characters and some story details, while keeping the basic outline of friends who are beleaguered by demons in a cabin alone.

"I rented the movie with a friend in video when i was thirteen and was a big mistake, because we spend badly. What I said is i said to Raimi i wanted to make the film I saw at that time, that was who gave me more scared in my life. "

I feel like remakes can co-exist with the original (True Grit, Willy Wonka) sobim not worried.

I also feel thy this will be...connected to the original somehow like JJ's 'star Trek

Sounds like this is an Evil Dead 4 that's also a semi-remake of the original. Meaning the exact same stuff that happened in the first film happens to a new group of kids and then Ash shows up at the end.

I hope Ash shows up in some way, that would be awesome. If not , My name is Bruce will be the unofficial Evil Dead 4.

Next Halloween's frankly getting a little damned packed. TCM 3D, Halloween 3D, this.

WHY Please STOP!

WHY DOES HOLLYWOOD DESTROY EVERYTHING???

when did Sam Rami become a TOOL???

im hatin i just want Bruce Campbell starring in Army of Darkness 4 IN SHAPE and ready to kickass continuing where it left off!!

No crap new actors, just stick to what worked!

Anybody knows if the Army of Darkness are any good? They seem to continue the story of the original trilogy, but are they well written or just silly?

Not sure what you mean but Army of Darkness was a fun movie. It felt more like a dark fantasy film than horror.

Yeah sorry, i was asking about the comic books, they seem interesting and new ones are still being published, and with the reboot coming it's probably the only way to get more Ash stories. Are they worth reading?

I figured I'd post this here, as it's the only Evil Dead thread that I found. Digital Spy interviewed Bruce Campbell:http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/ne...vil-dead-remake-ive-seen-it-its-fabulous.html

This quote interested me:
"It's basically five new kids who are going to have a really bad night with a brand new director -- Fede Alvarez, who was handpicked by Sam Raimi. I've seen it already; I think it's definitely fabulous," Campbell told Digital Spy. "We're really excited and really behind it, [but] it's going to take a bit to get the 'Evil Dead' fans behind it. We know we've pissed a lot of them off. We appreciate that and we appreciate their anger and their zeal, but the only thing we want to impress upon them is that we didn't screw it up. This is going to be just as memorable as [the original] 'Evil Dead' without being the same movie."
So filming is done for this then? I wonder when they'll release a trailer since it comes out April 12th next year?

The rest of the quote is interesting too. They know a lot of the fans aren't happy, but he seems to think that they should be happy with this one when they see it. Optimistic? Maybe, but he seems to be happy with it himself, so maybe it won't be that bad. Then again...

I hate to be cynical but he is getting paid and wouldn't badmouth this film even if it was bad so... we won't know til we see it.

I have a feeling this will just be a reboot and Ash might still appear.

I don't know if Ash will actually appear, but maybe when they are reading the Necronomicon, it shows the pictures of Ash in the past, or the prophecy or whatever

I hate to be cynical but he is getting paid and wouldn't badmouth this film even if it was bad so... we won't know til we see it.

Exactly. I also call ******** on the whole line about it being as memorable as the first. Im willing to bet money its going to be generic like the past few horror remakes.

I think so too. The thing that separates that franchise from being generic is Ash. Now granted, the first film wasn't an Ash vehicle, but the thing is, we've seen that movie. Remove Ash and you pretty much get... well every other horror film you see today. It will look "gritty" and "modern" etc, but I doubt it will add anything special or new or worthwhile to this thing.

But hey, I'm not too keen on the first film. I much prefer the sequels. So there's a small chance. But really, I don't have much hope.

I've never been to keen on the first film either. Was never impressed by it. I love the sequels so much though.

Cody is a good screenwriter, so I am not worried about the story. In fact, Iike how the synopsis said that the characters at first believe the phenomena to be hallucinations from their friend who is a recovering addict.

My concern lies with the design and cast. Jennifer's Body had a great script, but a horrible cast, and inconsistent design.

With that said, I have to reiterate, I am looking forward to the film.

I just hope it doesn't get the platinum dunes treatement where every shot looks like squeaky clean music video with that sleek overy digital look.

Yeah, that is exactly what I hope it doesn't look like.
