I made a short list of all the new information from the interview below if you don't want to read the whole thing.
*Children are
not killable in the game.
*You can play as a "good" or "bad" character in the game or straddle the gray area between.
*
Some nonhuman enemies can be bargained with and even be hired.
*Aside from Dogmeat you can only have
one other party member.
*You can give your companions items that they will use or wear.
*You can give your companions commands.
*If you commit a crime, only the faction or town you wronged will be aware of it.
*The dialog options in the game are going to be very good and numerous, apparantly.
*The speech skill is the basic way to get more information, but other unique dialog
options can also be gained from different stats. Example: If you have high strength, you
could find that "tough guy" types of characters might have more to tell you.
*Armor comes in two pieces, the body and helmet.
*Special kinds of regular unarmored clothing can increase some stats or skills. Example: Mechanic's coveralls will give a boost to your repair skill.
*You will also be able to wear different kinds of accessories.
*Inventory is based on weight and all items are categorized into: Weapons, Apparel, Aid, Ammo, and Misc.
*The way I read it, the Radiant A.I. is largely the same as it was in Oblivion, but characters can interact with the environment more.
*As in Oblivion, "Dungeon" areas will be common, but they will have a greater variety in terms of art style. Some examples given were factory, school, subway, office, hospital.
*Downtown DC is one giant "dungeon" for lack of a better term.
*Quest rewards will be awarded based on the outcome of the quest and
how you completed it.
*Travel will be the same as in Oblivion, except there won't be any places revealed on your map when you start out.
*There
will be random encounters.
*Traits have been merged into Perks.
*If you include multiple ranks, there are currently around 100 perks.
*There are some perks that you can only access if you have high enough skill.
*Character creation will be similar to Oblivion, except that you can have a beard.
*Apparantly their "beard list" is mighty impressive.
*Also, you can get "hair cuts" in the game like in Fable.
*It will be difficult, but you can finish the game without using a weapon.
