Bethesda Fallout: New Vegas (PC, PS3, 360)

Boone is taking headshots on everyone that attacks me. It's awesome. Also, I just died by a mother deathclaw. One hit, and i was done.

So again, looks like Microsoft gets first crack at the DLC.

Bethseda announced today plans to create downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas. The first of the new DLC will be hitting the Marketplace during the holiday season and will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. It is unclear if the first bit of DLC is only exclusive or if all the DLC is exclusive, but there is some exclusivity!

This announcement comes with very little details, except the announce of DLC and that it will be exclusive. There were no details how much DLC there will be, tentative dates for release, or details about said DLC.

at least they arent trying to BS and say it will only be on the 360 like they did with Fallout 3, only to have it announced for the PS3 months later. I dont think timed exclusivity will mean diddly squat here especially since people know it will end up on the other platform anyway and they announce this after the game has dropped. I think DLC exclusivity only matters when they make it look like it will only be on 1 platform like with GTA4. I thnk the vast majority of people wait and this will not have an impact on sales either way

I think it was more of a problem for PS3 last time because it was before the slim dropped and I'm wondering how many people picked up 360s instead of PS3s because of it.

Now, most people are aware that exclusive dlcs for the most part aren't exclusives.

I think last time, it mattered because I remember it being announced months before the game's release. The DLC announcement for New Vegas was like a day before it's release. I decided to get New Vegas for the PS3 because there was no announcement, had they announced it before I probably would have gone with the 360 version instead.

And yeah, nobody is expecting the DLC to be 360 exclusive. PS3 owners (like me...) will just have to wait longer is all.

I think calling New Vegas an expansion is a fair statement, and not a slap in it's face. I'm discovering small changes that do kinda matter. Like consuming food highering me health for a short time and then wearing off, or magazines highering certain skills for a short time only and wearing off as well. I'm pretty sure those are new.

I also chose the the Wild Wasteland perk...and yeah, just outside of Goodsprings I found a skeleton in a fridge. And I found a fedora on him. Looks exactly like Indy's, too. Definitely an Indiana Jones easter egg.

Btw, another easter egg in New Vegas...http://kotaku.com/5670400/youd-have...ould-now-be-in-the-hands-of-fallout-new-vegas

Oh yeah! I got my NCR Ranger Combat Armor!! Found a veteran ncr ranger roaming around...needless to say, he wont be walking anymore.

For the life of me I can't figure out what this is not an expansion to FO3. Same engine, same graphics, minimal changes to gameplay, no real story advancement the list goes on. I'm still going to play it and like it but calling this a "new" fallout is lame. I'm calling it right now next fallout whichever may be next Gen will be set in the annexed Canada!

They've actually been very clear from when the game was first announced, that this isn't a "full sequel." It's not Fallout 4, that will be coming in the future. While this isn't an expansion or DLC (new story, changes in mechanics, some minor changes in graphics and animations, and it's the same size if not greater than FO3 in regards to quests, etc.), it's not a full blown sequel either. I remember the first thing they said is that this is essentially analogous to Vice City. It's its own game, not an expansion on FO3, but it's not the full sequel to Fallout 3. It's a sidequel.

Ha, jesus, it took me forever to figure out how to get that off of him without screwing things up with the NCR. I managed to get the Authority glasses and the badass ranger cowboy hat off of someone from ranger station alpha, because they'd go down quickly out of sight with my golf club, but not so with the ranger veteran.

Had find a Legion outfit, bring a couple high powered companions with me, get the NCR vet to attack due to the outfit, and let my companions **** him up without my help. Took a few tries, but got the armor with no loss of rep.

I'm trying to get in good with the Brotherhood because the more and more quests I did for the NCR the more like Commie *****e nuggets they seemed. :p

Anyone playing this on a PC / Steam yet? Wondering how the port is working.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

I do. And so far so good. The only real problem was the latest patch that steam released which messed your copy if it's got certain mods...

And let's face it... one of the main reason to play FO 3 or FONV on a pc is the sheer ammounts of mods available for the game:cwink:

Just finished and sided with
Mr. House as I preferred his "enlightened autocracy" to the NCR's idea of just recreating the corrupt governmental systems of the old world and the Legion's outright domination. I mulled over Yes Man's plan but I thought better to leave the power in his hands as House seems to actually have a vision for the future of the human race.

I really liked this game and probably ended up preferring its world/story to Fallout 3's.

I've already [BLACKOUT]killed Ceasar and disabled Mr. House. But they way I went through it I didn't even get a chance to really hear Mr. House's side of the story.[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah its easy to do things out of the game's desired "order of events", I had to tell the NCR and House I'd already done 1/2 of their questline by the time I started chewing through the main story.

I wish they'd put out a free download that offers classic Christmas music. Since Mr. New Vegas keeps telling me that he's going to have a Christmas album anyhow.

I finally got the game as a Christmas present from a buddie of mine... I can wait to start playing it

I'm enjoying this far more than Fallout 3.
Alot of RPG's to a terrible job of letting you be bad but Vegas seems to do a pretty good job in that regard. In the opening quest I helped to residents defend against the bandits collecting fellows to help like a certain Akira Kurosawa film then killed them all and got there loot. Fallout 3's opening had an invincible Liam Neeson oblivion to the fact you were knocking him out because he was integral to the not very well told plot. The very low res textures are anoying though. It's going to need some texture packs though, the textures are terrible.

If you are on an Nvidia card and want slightly better shadows, this fellows video shows you how to enable ambient occlusion for vegas. It's in Russian but if you set it to full screen it's easy to make it, Basically he deleted the Fallout: Vegas profile and made it use the Fallout 3 profile.

It works on fear also, so presumably you can force most games that don't allow it through nvidia's control panel by just repeating to same process with different game exe's.

Its that damned engine Bethseda's been using since Oblivion. The presentation problems that New Vegas has at times are mainly due to the fault of that thing to properly execute their vision. :cmad:

I REALLY, REALLY hope Bethseda takes the Elder Scrolls series and let's Obsidian play around in the Fallout universe from now on.

Yea, I think they made a much better game. Waiting to buy it must have payed off only encountered one bug in the ten hours or so, by comparison Fallout 3 had tons of problems when I played it. I just finished "One For My Baby" it was quite funny, easily better than any of the Fallout 3 quests.
