Fancasting for Ant-Man

So he's confirmed for the first film of phase three.

Assuming it's Pym which I hope it is, what actor should play him? Discuss. And I'm trying to figure out how to get a poll up, so should have one soon hopefully.

My top picks as of now are Simon Baker and Patrick Wilson.

Sometimes it seems like fans only know ten names and 'Nathan Fillion' is five of them. The other five being 'Emily Blunt'.

Josh Duhamel would be a solid pick for Hank Pym, in my opinion. He has the acting chops and the charisma to carry the film, if given a good script to work with. Duhamel might have trouble pulling off the nerdy scientist act, though. James Marsden is another actor who'd be a good choice. Marsden is a versatile actor who was wasted in the X-films. He can handle both the action of the film and drama.

I'm against Fillion for Ant-Man, I don't see what people really like about him. Would rather Simon Baker, Patrick Wilson or Benedict Cumberbatch.

I find it pretty funny that people keep wanting Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk even though both have repeatedly said they aren't intrested in the role. They could change their minds I suppose but I'm not sure Marvel would want to hire an actor who kind of called the character lame in public.

I think Fillion is probably annoyed people keep asking him about Ant-Man by now. If anything Fillion should of been Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie or Wonder Man if they do him one day.

I think Lee Pace would by great as either Pym or Lang.

Lee Pace has been on Marvels radar for a while as well. Pace met with some Marvel folks last year and he auditioned for Star Lord although he didn't get the role.

I like Simon Baker and Patrick Wilson as actors but not sold on them for the role. I think Patrick Wilson would make a good villain as he has a slightly creepy edge to him in some of his roles.

I don't think Marvel could afford Bradley Cooper seeing as his pretty hot right now and Marvel don't like paying big salaries

Benedict Cumberbach as Ant-man/Pym - publically known as a brilliant scientist/inventor - privately, a size-changing secret agent - has freelanced once or twice for S.H.I.E.L.D but was deemed a poor candidate for the Avengers Initiative because of his pacifist leanings

Jamie Bell as a talented but low level thief/young father who is leveraged by Advanced Idea Mechanics to steal something Pym is working on; to use for sinister purposes, of course. entirely expendable to A.I.M. if there are sequels, he would be Ant-Man's eyes on the street and occassional thief.


Jan's in there as well; the daughter of Pym's wealthy employer. she may or may not have already been upgraded into Wasp in this one. she may also have already reached out to S.H.I.E.L.D behind her boyfriend's back; anxious to see some action. rich girl persona on the outside. tomb raiderish action hero and sleuth on the inside. i don't know who to cast, on this one.

Also, if were talking about Wasp I do have a couple names in mind for sure. My top two are Bernice Bejo(The Artist, even though I have yet to see The Artist still I hear good things about her acting, and she looks the part), and Morena Baccarin who's a great actress and if my dream casting were to come true it would be Simon Baker and her who have great chemistry together after she guest stared on an episode on The Mentalist once.

right off the bat, i'd eliminate Viggo Mortensen (he's my choice for Stephen Strange)

Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk had their chance and openly dissed the character

Waltz should take the abandoned Red Skull roll

Adrian Brody has, unfortunately, made a really awful career-killing comedy

Simon Pegg should play Elias Starr/Egghead

i don't like Ewan McGregor's face

Armie Hammer seems more like a young Bruce Wayne than Pym

i'm a little burnt out on Patrick Wilson

doubly so for Brad Cooper

Lee Pace will probably be the most fancast individual to never appear in a marvel movie

i'd accept Jude Law

i'd accept Joel Kinnaman

i'd accept Joel Edgerton

just my opinion but Aaron Eckhart would work great as Giant-Man but look really strange as Ant-Man. i couldn't imagine him wearing anything like the get-up in the test footage. that's not to say that i don't think he looks like Henry Pym. it's just that Hank's look (in the books) evolved over time; partly due to him becoming Giant-Man (seen as more of a team strongman).

Aaron Eckhart looks the part but he seems like he might be a bit too serious for Edgar and Marvel's movie tone.

It will probably be someone none of us have thought of or brought up and everyone will say of 'I never thought of that guy' t:

I've always thought when we do get to see Pym on the big screen he'll be both Ant-Man and Giant-Man... I think Eckhart is a great actor and I'd love to see him in the role.
