Huh...look at that. An official trailer with different tones, humor, action, exotic locales, a couple of elements that are recognizably "Fantastic Four" like the Baxter Building and the powers...

At one point I believe I even heard a character say "We should use our powers to help people".

While "This isn't what I want to see" and "This isn't exactly like the comics" remain valid arguments, hopefully this trailer will put to bed some of the hyperbolic complaints like "This movie will be devoid of humor, fun, action, adventure, special effects", etc.

I thought it looked pretty darn good. Certainly like a well made, entertaining film. I remain intrigued.

Also, remember how I kept saying there was blue in the suits?

There's blue in the suits.

He's not saying that they're ruining the franchise. He's saying that people hate him because THEY think he's ruining the fanchise.

I rarely blame the actor if a film goes wrong. Miles Teller is a great up and coming actor, as is the rest of the cast. I can't blame him for problems from the studio, the script writers or the director.

There are cases where actors deserve 100% of the blame (see George Lazenby on Her Majesty's Secret Service), but I think those time are more rare than not.

It's highly likely that's what he means, probably is.
The way it's typed makes it sound like Teller said "We are ruining your franchise".

Classic case of when being snarky backfires. The devil is in the details.

Give over! Lazenby did alright save for the rest of production on his end going chaotic (and having Rohnan O'Railly around him leading to the most regrettable choice he made after listening to the leech didn't help either)

I think they'll get official blue team suits with the "4" emblem in the end. What we see them wearing in the trailers are containment suits created by Reg Cathey that are heavy on the black

It's kind of funny how this movie's supporters can't defend the movie on its own merits, and instead have to resort to accusing all the naysayers as being "MCU fanboys" who just can't stand Fox.

Then you haven't been paying attention.

There's blue in the suits.

Most seem to have moved beyond those notions of it being grim dark exclusively

I'm betting as the movie progresses they'll learn to control their powers and lose the black functional suits and adopt the blue ones.

Perhaps they take them on as hero costumes considering what Johnny says about helping people who knows

Concerning the action we've seen a fight between The Four and Doom in a scientific facility, perhaps The Baxter building, which incidentally looks cool as a building imo, a fight likely happening after we see the Thing being dropped into what could be the snowy areas shown briefly, and fight between Thing and Doom in the N-Zone

Doom is only shown in the N-Zone and in what could be the Baxter building. Wonder if his cloak is what remains of his white N-Zone suit and his fight with Johnny when he returns to Earth and maybe he goes to the snowy locale and Ben is dropped there to battle him, could even discard the cloak and adopt a different look upon returning to Earth.

I was happy with Teller's involvement from the moment he was rumored. Amazing actor. Whiplash was the best movie of 2014.

I've never liked him honestly even though i felt he had the right look for a young Reed I thought he'd be *****ey like he's been in a few flick but him in the new trailer convinced me. He really stood out and think he'll be fun and endearing to watch in the role

This is a valid criticism of this section and the way it's managed imo.

I've seen members come here to discuss the content of the movie and say they felt driven off by the regulars

That in my view one of the reasons why other members don't hang around here much. They come to chat when trailers or posters drop then leave shortly after as its just not welcome here to anticipate the movie.

Yeah. He's basically referencing those who hated him before seeing him in any photos or footage to judge.

Only because people take criticism of this project personally...

We had far more vitriolic discussion from people during the first movie than anything on here this go around, and I had the name Albafan, and I STILL GOT THROUGH IT AND ENJOYED MY TIME. Because I didn't take things so damn personal.

We are discussing a movie here, not world politics or religion.

We are seeing more and more positive posters on here daily, chill out and just discuss.

Well, I for one am a huge fan of the MCU, and think this movie looks very good. Why? Because I have yet to see anything to give basis to the "fact" so many people keep peddling around that "this isn't the Fantastic Four".

When the team first got their powers, they weren't immediatly transformed into the happy-go-lucky adventures everyone thinks of them as. They were scared at first, but quickly took to becoming heroes in the span of one comic, because it was the 60s and they didn't have any time for in-depth story telling. This movie is the origin of the F4, telling how they overcame viewing their powers as terrifying and coming together as a family to save the world. I have no reason to doubt that by the end of the movie they will become the F4 we all know and love.
That's fair enough I guess, but I would have much preferred to not "wait for a sequel" to see them become the Fantastic Four family we know from the comics. A year ago, nobody would have been happy to know we'd get a reboot of them dealing with their powers once again. From the looks of the trailer, Reed and Ben don't even meet Johnny and Sue until the end of the first act. Furthermore, even by the time of the sequel, these actors will be far younger than the iconic group we know from the comics.

I've been paying attention just fine. Most of the comments I was referring to were deleted.

Yes...that's Stan the Man Lee. If you look at his Twitter page, he has the blue checkmark to signal it's a "verified" account.

I'll be watching it first showing opening night in 4K/Dolby Atmos at an AMC here in Kalamazoo with about a dozen people. Shopping for a good FF shirt to wear on ebay as we speak

I may see the Midnight showing, should be interesting...

I haven't done a midnight since Avengers. They keep doing 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm screenings for everything now and its just more convenient for me.

The hardest thing to get used to now is not having to wait in line all day. I remember waiting 12 hours for Spider Man and now I get in line an hour before.

I went to the midnight showing of ROTSS.. (which i think is the more "fantastic four" of the two tim story films) the theater was only half full... it was awkward.
