I wonder will Fox finally show something at a Comic Con coming up. This thing is coming out soon and it's really odd that they didn't show anything at a CC by now. But yet we are getting updates on Deadpool and XM:A every time someone goes on lunch break.

Well those updates are not coming from the studio, they are coming from the filmmakers and crew. And yeah they will probably be at CC, most likely debuting the final trailer. Though if that trailer presents trashbag Doom we are all so familiar with, the audience wont be happy.

I don't care about the costumes, like at all. Yes the costumes are important in the comics, but this is a different version of the team and a different story. For me the costumes wont break the movie. As long as they end up with them in the end of the movie or in the next one. This is their origin story and it wouldn't make sense for them to go all superhero right away. The containment suits have a point, ugly designs as they are.

It really can't be said enough how bad Fox is handling this film from a business perspective right now. You do not pull previous films from digital platforms when the new version comes out, even when they weren't very good. They're throwing money away by doing that. They don't pull X-Men Origins: Wolverine when a new X-Men film is releasing. Hell, other companies usually try to capitalize any way they can, even if a new film looks really bad. Friggin Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins got an all-new "remastered" version when Dragonball Evolution was in production.

As for Turtles, I'd say it definitely had a little more promotion this time last year. It also had the benefit of having a toy line and an ongoing comic...

The studio "allows" leaks for movies to be released. There is a reason Deadpool photos are being leaked this early while anything F4 that was leaked had Fox lawyers ordering cease and desist for anything that happens to come out. I'd be so shocked if they go to any comic con to show any footage. I'm still curious to see if this thing gets booed. Let's be real, no matter what happens at this point, some people will still not like what they see. If they do have the balls to show up at CC, I don't have a doubt in my mind that it would get booed or have some negative reaction.

If they show this film at the Con, I fully expect that Fox will make an effort to vet people at the door and get... a certain crowd... in instead. There was a time when you didn't get booed at these things. Those days are gone. If there was booing at last year's Age of Ultron panel, you can bet somebody would boo Trank's "artistic vision" if Fox doesn't actively try to prevent that.

Interesting article here regarding FOX's decision to pull the two Story films from iTunes and Amazon.

I especially love this quote:

Given Fox's recent move, the studios' pitch will be clear. Come see the new movie, which you should see because it evokes thoughts of the old movie. Just don’t think about the old one so hard that you don't want to see this one.

Sounds like a plan!

I suspect they just don't want people watching the old one and realizing this is basically the same story - just with a different 'tone'.

If they had done something much closer to Lee/Kirby, they could have had a much different tone and a much different story.

That's your entire problem right there. Judging a 'things' merit on how it 'performs' without context. As if that's some kinda category that needs to be met. Second, there is the discussion of the 'context' of prototype suits...The context of DD running around in all black or spidey in a ski mask, scarlet witch.., you've simply never seen this anywhere else.

Then there is this new issue of how enthusiastic people look in marketing? Before I list off all the other places this occurs outside of FFINO(see everywhere), especially in movie posters, I'd have to ask why such a thing would matter. This isn't some miss america stage where such a thing is very much the point, it's a still from a dramatic film.

Like I said, I've never seen pages and pages, mods et all.
These circumstances you are in fact describing have been present for alot of movies. More to the point sequels and produced by people with far less celebrated pedigree. What is it about this film that hits your circumstances far more than anything that has come prior. Other than some what 'other studios' are supposedly doing. Or is that it? Cause I was told it wasn't.
I mean doesn't every single xmen movie meet this evil criteria? Where are it's pages and pages? Outside of an actual thread dedicated to skepticism that is.

I for one do recall all the outcry marvel generates. It's what makes the idea that they would certainly produce something 'better', wishful thinking imo.

This isn't the first time you've come into this section and questioned the criticisms aimed at the movie, which makes me think you haven't been following this production as closely as the rest of us or you're being obtuse. This has been a cheap rights grab from the beginning, with an indifferent cast and an inexperienced director who have outright acknowledged that everything about this incarnation of the FF is quite different from the original. So much so that they've had to backtrack on several occasions and do damage control with what they've said and released. Again, the negativity aimed at this movie has been explained ad nauseam. I don't want to argue any of those points with you because, as someone who has been following this closely, those things are all true. Add that the production has been a huge cluster from the beginning, with Fox hiding everything they could about this movie for as long as they could.... Again, these things have been explained.
As for your comment about Marvel producing something "better", you've also made this claim before and you have yet to really make a convincing argument. It's fine that you don't particularly enjoy Marvel's film output, but to pretend that the same studio who turned a talking tree and a raccoon with a gun into mega-stars would somehow be incapable of making a better FF film than this, where they wear horrible looking prototype suits and fight a blogging Dr. Doom...
Come on. It almost seems intellectually dishonest of you. Marvel has completely been dominating the superhero genre, and they've done that by honoring the source material while appealing to audiences across the world. This new movie seems completely uninterested in that, instead taking the "lo-fi, gritty, low budget" approach so Fox can hold onto the rights for a few more years. It's at a point where if you don't understand the vitriol aimed at this movie, it's because you don't want to.

And my digital copies are still on Vudu. I just couldn't buy new digital versions if I wanted to.

the X-men post origin have really been more about individuality than the "team dynamic" same with batman and his bat-family... they arn't so much a "team" as they are "people who work together" if that makes sense.

The Fantastic Four are a brand in the comics....

I certainly agree that Fantastic Four are the closest knit team of the examples above, and should be be closely identified. I definitely want Thing to wear something similar in style to the others. I wasn't giving the photo an endorsement, just trying to keep hope.

A:AoU was booed last year? Freakin fanboys are extreme sometimes! :whatever:

Peyton Reed got booed too. That was pure garbage man. He rushes in to salvage a troubled film production and that's how fans treat the guy.

I was concerned about "borrowing" this for my Avatar, as it is difficult to read your extremely clever modification. But the picture is so bad you really dont need any words.

I find it funny they're being removed, but you just know they'll be making their way onto TV around the time this one is in the cinema anyway.

ABC FAMILY channel put them into their rotation about a month ago.

I don't know. For some reason, the Disney owned ABC Family has the cable broadcast rights to the first Story film now. On one hand, it makes sense to not show it as every other branch of Disney is shunning the Four. On the other, they may convince the preteen to young adult crowd that actually watches ABC Family that they don't actually want to see any more Fantastic Four in the first place. :p

What a great idea.

And that's why I go much easier on Kinberg than I do Trank.
