Him calling out trolls on the internet in turn making him lose fans because these 'fans' think he's talking about them is a lovely bit of irony. I'd consider that him losing potential fans vs him losing actual fans.
Something I have a feeling he's at peace with. At least I'd hope he is cause I would be.
As for "They'll see it anyways".
I'm sorry but all the people on this very forum that have been complaining for months on end are more likely to see this movie than my uncle who gives two licks about such things. If you care enough to spend all this time then you are likely going to see it, especially if you are a big enough fan to get though the prior two(if not 3). It's not a certainty but odds are.
I love terminator, I'm not liking a single thing I'm seeing from that new thing but given I watch movies all the time and that's a big summer thing, I'm probably going to see it, double or nothing given I'm really into terminator.
They asked him what he thinks of all the people that hate him and are complaining about the movie and instead of smiling for the camera and asking people to have an open mind ,forgo their prejudice(by definition) and judge the final product, he told the tmz reporter that these folks will see the movie anyways. Some people just to see the fruition of their complaining.
I personally saw this same outcome with that ninja turtle reboot. All those people complaining for months didn't just miss out on this thing they were passionate about. If anything what would they have to contribute to the ongoing discourse if they missed it? A bunch of questions? "Was it as bad as I thought it would be guys?"
This is hardly a matter of "I can do what I want and the dogs will lap it up", as is the spin I'm seeing here.
It's more, "they have their minds admittedly made up already, they may or may not like it, but I challenge them not to see it". The internet be the internet.
Are you going see it?
