Honestly... their's no valid excuse for his behavior, and he's already lost fans because of it.

Well great, that's a good point. We are all listening to each other's opinion. I don't see why we can't do this without going a little too rough on each other.

@Kelly This is another example where I wasn't specific enough for you. You could've started to see different meanings behind it.

Anyway, I am moving on as well. I see that it is a bad idea to discuss race change issue that happened so many times before.

I'm sorry....I forgot for a moment I was posting on the Hype....where everything has to be perfectly precisely absolutely Supreme court perfect when posted.

Please let me try again -
You posted this - There are people in the WORLD who are racist. Some of those people are detractors of the film are and have expressed those views. Trank and MBJ aren't making up the hate they've received for the casting. I don't see why fans take it so personal like they are talking about them specifically.

And my reply should have been -
Maybe they take it personally, because when people like Trank and MBJ and many many of this movie's defenders make statements about how the people who are against the movie are just being RACIST....they do not preference the statement with SOME BUT NOT ALL. They (Trank and MBJ and many many of the movie's defenders) do not acknowledge that some if not many or most of the people who are against MBJ being cast in the role are saying that they are against his casting because it goes against the over 50 years of visual evidence of what he is supposed to look like. I would be as against the casting of Robert DeNiro in the role as MBJ. Robert may be white, but he looks nothing like the character has been shown for over 50 years. Ron Perlman is a great actor and a genre fan favorite....but even though he is white I would object to his playing Johnny....because he looks nothing like the part I have read and looked at for 50 years. I (and others) have repeatedly said this...but the response we get back most for saying that is - you are a racist. Now.....do you understand why so many people take it personally?

I don't think you get what I was saying. I was not being sarcastic or trying to say that no one has ever said your being a racist because you don't like the casting. How could I know its never happened to you or anyone. What I was saying though is that I've never seen it, nothing more. If you say someone has called you racist for not liking the casting I can't rebut that.

... calm yourself.. no one is defending racism... we are however saying... be the bigger people and be mature and ignore idiots.. dont snap at the entire fanbase and generalise and out them down in the process

I'm perfectly calm, and you can only ignore idiots for so long. If your out in the street and come across a couple idiots, ignore it, I get that. I probably wouldn't in my younger days, I hated to see people getting picked on. That got me into a lot of fights won some lost some whatever. However in this new age ignoring idiots on the internet is not easy. If it was cyber bullying would not be an issue we see on the news so often. Just because your an adult getting bullied can still be very hurtful and leave emotional scars.

Honestly... their's no valid excuse for his behavior, and he's already lost fans because of it.

Him calling out trolls on the internet in turn making him lose fans because these 'fans' think he's talking about them is a lovely bit of irony. I'd consider that him losing potential fans vs him losing actual fans.
Something I have a feeling he's at peace with. At least I'd hope he is cause I would be.

As for "They'll see it anyways".
I'm sorry but all the people on this very forum that have been complaining for months on end are more likely to see this movie than my uncle who gives two licks about such things. If you care enough to spend all this time then you are likely going to see it, especially if you are a big enough fan to get though the prior two(if not 3). It's not a certainty but odds are.

I love terminator, I'm not liking a single thing I'm seeing from that new thing but given I watch movies all the time and that's a big summer thing, I'm probably going to see it, double or nothing given I'm really into terminator.
They asked him what he thinks of all the people that hate him and are complaining about the movie and instead of smiling for the camera and asking people to have an open mind ,forgo their prejudice(by definition) and judge the final product, he told the tmz reporter that these folks will see the movie anyways. Some people just to see the fruition of their complaining.
I personally saw this same outcome with that ninja turtle reboot. All those people complaining for months didn't just miss out on this thing they were passionate about. If anything what would they have to contribute to the ongoing discourse if they missed it? A bunch of questions? "Was it as bad as I thought it would be guys?"

This is hardly a matter of "I can do what I want and the dogs will lap it up", as is the spin I'm seeing here.
It's more, "they have their minds admittedly made up already, they may or may not like it, but I challenge them not to see it". The internet be the internet.

Are you going see it?

And to be clear, this post isn't about race, but rather the nature of fans

Ignoring idiots online is actually very easy... nearly all online mediums have this pretty awesome block feature. You can also *gasp* walk away from an electronic device.

Its in poor taste imo to compare this to the cyber bully issues that children and teens deal with considering they are pretty young and inexperienced in the world.. but in the adult world? Learn to block stuff out. And if you're a celeb... hire someone to control your PR

He turned me off as a fan with his "you'll see it anyway" comment. And thus... i wont be seeing this film at all.

I took it personally, because that comment was not made about "racists"... it was made about anyone who disagreed with the casting...

The 'ill see a movie just to see it" mentality baffles me.. movies are expensive.. and there's plenty to choose from. Why pay for a movie that looks mediocre? Wouldnt you rather spend money on something else? Merch? Toys? Food? Games? Save for something?

Shrugs. People can do what they want with their money, but i dont get that mentality

So Jordan makes a comment about trolls on the internet, and immediately we hear the online equivalent of "I'M NOT A TROLL!" "ME EITHER!" "WELL I'M CERTAINLY NOT!"

Sometimes I love this thing we call the internet.

Fair enough, I suppose he wasn't talking about you then. But I suppose that was established already.

Movies are expensive you're right, but people tend to watch the big summer movies they have a vested interest in, the ones they care about. More so than some winter rom com anyways. Jordan was talking about someone. I can't imagine only the supporters on this board will be seeing the film come august. That would be about 6 of us?
Should be interesting.

I dont get it either. It's actually "face palmingly" stupid to me

I mean hey, it's their money.

But dont go see a movie you know youre not going to like and then come complaining.

It's like the people who hate the Transformers films and then still watch every new one that is released in theaters. Come around and then b**** and moan

Mr. Jordan considers everyone who complined about his casting, including those who wrote such vicious, racist comments as "It's not true to the comics", to be an internet troll.

Bloop hit the nail on the head.

We have him using his slinky arms in the newest TV spot but other than that? No.

I don't really care about all the irrelevant crap.

What I do care about is the people who made this film are so incredibly disinterested in their own film that they'd rather talk about the irrelevant crap than the film.

If those involved aren't interested enough to talk about the film, why should we be interested in seeing it?

Jamie Bell has been completely silent hasn't he?

We haven't heard from Mara in a few months either right?

It's pretty much only been Trank, Kinberg, and MBJ.

And even then it's only to defend their bad decisions, not to actually promote/talk about the movie.

And with MBJ it was just to talk about trolls and racists.

With a few sprinklings of Teller, Mara, and Bell...like in that MTV interview where they seemed completely put off to be there.

Kebbell dropped off the face of the earth the second he spilled the awful beans on Domashev. Which I find the most fascinating.

well they are starting to ramp up the advertising so we have to hear from them then.

But they did not do a good job with the marketing or PR for this at all

If we do hear more from the cast in any way, I hope it's exactly as or more lackluster as that MTV interview.

Purely for the entertainment value.

And then they hurriedly change the topic to projects they're currently working on, since I think they all have those. At least MBJ and Mara do in Creed and The Martian respectively.

Or even better, they talk about the projects they're all more excited about and currently working on, and then just give a foot note about Fant4stic after that.

Show me where he said that.

Show me where he said that.

In the opening paragraph Mr. Jordan quotes comments on the internet from those mildly annoyed at his casting. In the last paragraph he lashes out at "the trolls on the internet". Do you believe he is refering to two separate groups?

If you mean - a year or so from now when this shows up on the ENCORE ACTION channel I'll watch it, then yeah that will probably happen. But if you think I will spend one cent at the theater or one cent on the DVD you are sadly mistaken.

Why yes....we have seen the last of you.

Do you believe, that with any grasp of the English language, one can assume he is combining the reference from his first paragraph with the last?

I'm sure "trolls on the internet" encompasses some people who have issues with his casting, as some trolls obviously do, but it can hardly be taken to mean that anyone who has issues with his casting is a troll, or that Jordan is calling anyone who has issues with his casting a troll.

due to it also being off season now for TV shows.. and talk shows don't usually tape too many episodes during the summer, i don't expect them to pop up much either

i think the bigger issue is he doesn't bother to say anything nice about any of the Fantastic Four fans.... ever. he's done absolutely nothing to make them feel good about anything... instead most of us just feel a bit disrespected.
