Do you believe, that with any grasp of the English language, one can assume he is combining the reference from his first paragraph with the last?

I'm sure "trolls on the internet" encompasses some people who have issues with his casting, as some trolls obviously do, but it can hardly be taken to mean that anyone who has issues with his casting is a troll, or that Jordan is calling anyone who has issues with his casting a troll.

I don't believe that Mr. Jordan is a complete moron. If he wanted to distinguish between posters who were mildly annoyed at the casting and the internet trolls that need to take a walk outside, he would have done so. He didn't.

His job isn't to boost your self-esteem. His job is to act in movies.

Anything beyond that is a bonus.

Why do you think he even cares about posters who are mildly annoyed at his casting?

He wrote an open letter addressing a specific issue. The issue wasn't people being mildly annoyed with his casting.

You yourself said he placed the statements in two seperate paragraphs.

Do you know why writers use separate paragraphs?

His job may not be to boost people's self esteem.....but it is to encourage them to go see his movies not run them off.

Him calling out trolls on the internet in turn making him lose fans because these 'fans' think he's talking about them is a lovely bit of irony.
Please, with all of the craziness that has come from the cast and Director in interviews, news sites and Twitter?

I'm sure there's plenty of "irony" when you conveniently choose to ignore all of the mishaps created by the project that give people pause in the first place.

News was that everyone "Liked" the trailer so if that's the case then why does Millar, Kinberg, Trank and MBJ all feel the need to address "b*tching", trolling and racist instead of....you know promoting this film the way every other studio is doing with their upcoming projects?

actually part of his job usually requires good PR, and paint himself in a good light.. so that way people come and check out his work...

The fact you're defending this is beyond silly.. this film, unlike nearly EVERY other super-hero film... has actors being quite appreciative and down right chummy with the fanbase that made these characters what they are today. There's no "We couldn't of done this without our fans" there's no "I really want to do this so they can be proud of me" etc... the typical spew actors who take on iconic roles gives.

MBJ just does not care... and if he does..... he's not showing it what so ever.

As for "They'll see it anyways".
I'm sorry but all the people on this very forum that have been complaining for months on end are more likely to see this movie than my uncle who gives two licks about such things. If you care enough to spend all this time then you are likely going to see it, especially if you are a big enough fan to get though the prior two(if not 3). It's not a certainty but odds are.

Him sayin 'they'll see it anyway' isn't an insult it's an educated guess based on their investment.

For the last year there's been many vocally against the movie and spend every day here decrying it's quality. The chance that when the movie releases they'll stop is essentially null and in order to continue to complain they'll have to see it.

So he's not wrong. Most of those complaining about Batfleck will still see the movie

The 'ill see a movie just to see it" mentality baffles me.. movies are expensive.. and there's plenty to choose from.

Agreed. A member in another section said he'll be seeing an upcoming movie several times, even though he doesnt know if he'll like it the first time.

Why yes....we have seen the last of you.

An incredible loss for this board.

I think Mr. Jordan cares about posters mildly annoyed at his casting because he included the quote "It's not true to the comics" - Which reflects mild annoyance at the casting.

To meet the length requirement of the teacher's writing assignment?

No, that's not actually his job either. Its something that is often expected of actors, but that's not his job. That is the marketing department's job. His job is to address his role in the movie. Which he has done.

I don't see him "running people off" in any real sense. He's addressing a particular issue, and I'd bet that he's getting a mostly positive reaction to his statements from almost anyone but sensitive Four fans. The general public eats this stuff up.

omg.. you can't be serious... this might be the funniest thing i've read on the board in ages... did you watch the video? he was clearly being a smart a@%...

at least we can agree on this

and yet.. the General Public seem like they couldn't care less about any of this.. including what Mr. Jordan has to say.. it's completely off their radar

1. "We couldn't have done this without our fans"?

Really?

2. Both Jordan and Teller have talked about doing justice to the characters and recognized their responsibility in portrayin iconic characters.

MBJ just does not care... and if he does..... he's not showing it what so ever.

An assumption on your part. Not sure what its based on, since his actions say otherwise. People who "don't care" don't pen open letters about things.

Hmmm... I guess Hollywood's got it all wrong then. Either that or you're just making things up as you go along.

There's only so much that marketing can do if antics by the cast and director negate. Thus marketing of a film being a team effort. I'm also almost certain it's in most actor's contract to "market" a film. They're not just doing interviews for their health.

The reaction to this movie just exposes fanboy entitlement.

I will concede that an actor is usually expected to take part in promoting the film. My original point was that an actor is not obligated to suck up to fanboys. There is nothing inherent in promoting a project that requires this to happen. That's my point in a nutshell.

And yes, this movie has exposed a bit of fanboy entitlement.

I've seen hundreds of actors say that promotion is part of the job.

I've seen multiple people on here say that his comments have basically "ran them off" from the movie....which means that many more around the world feel the same way....so I and some others do see him as as "running people off".

You are 100% correct. Over the past decade we have been blessed with amazing cinematic interpretations of beloved comic stories, headlined by brilliant actors clad in costumes that appear to have been torn straight from comic book pages.

We have our choice of comic book television shows that are breaking boundaries with mature content, female representation and special effects that would have been unheard of just a decade ago.

And in this environment there is absolutely no need to support a cheap rights grab that rejects the classic source material.

I don't think the rest of the world is following his statement so close and scrutinizing every last bit of it, and changing their opinion on the whole movie based off of one sentence. I think that's just people in here.

I don't think that's the type of entitlement Mad Ones was referring to.

And I think you can make a solid argument that this film is presenting mature content, good "female representation", and special effects that would have been unheard of a decade ago.

It's nice to hear when actors express appreciation of the fans and the source and such but it's not a requirement.

Given the reaction he has gotten why should MBJ express appreciation to those who have been against him in the role? Why return affection for hate?

The reaction to this movie just exposes fanboy entitlement.

Pretty much. They want the actors on bended knee thanking them when all they've done is be against the actors.

 most likely

MBJ could have just said something like - "I understand it may seem like a left field decision and I know I don't look like Johnny Storm from the comics but I think we have something special planned for the fans and I intend to do justice to the role. We know how near and dear these characters are to many people and it matters to us too. We live in a different era than when these books came out but the spirit of the comic is absolutely there. I think fans will be very pleased to see what we have in store!"

Do you think a comment like that would have generated the same amount of vitriol as:

"They're just gonna see it anyway."

???

Well much like being called racist and trolls, I'm guess dismissing rest as entitled fanboys fixes everything :woot:
