Considering how badly Fox marketed Apes and X-men vs their final product. It gives me hope.

That statement sums up every issue with Fox. They do not care about marketing. They don't like to show tons of new footage in trailers and they also detest press tours.

DOFP and Apes were already apart of successful franchises. Both coming off critically or commercially praised films. Throw in the original cast from the first Xfilms and you got something with potential.

FF needs as much help as possible.

What? I saw DoFP and Apes stuff literally everywhere.

More so DoFP.

I'm talking about quality. Remember Quicksilver photoshops of horror? Or FC with horrible Xavier/ Magneto floating heads in silhouette?

Which Apes film? The sequel to the surprise hit? Or the reboot of a dead franchise after another unsuccessful reboot attempt?

I can't believe they managed to give Mara a wig that is actually WORSE than Alba's.

Also, its clearly something that was added in reshoots as its inconsistent with shots from the final battle, as seen in the teaser.

I saw the trailer for this at the cinema. The effects look spectacular, but I just can't 'see' the actors as the characters. The Human Torch was a joker, but he seems way too serious, Reed looks way too young, and I can't understand why they've made Doom an alien.

As probably the only person who liked the first films, I guess I just don't care much for reboots.

The reboot attempt way back in 2001 earned $180M DOM & $362M WW on a $100 budget. It was very successful.

In any case, comparing FFINO to franchises with a history of success like Apes and X-Men is ridiculous.

I honestly forgot this film existed. There is like no marketing for this. I expected at least a couple of bus posters. Or TV Spots.

Was it ever settled that
the movie will or will not be 3D ?

I don't think there has ever been anything official announced but Fox has removed all 3D logos everywhere that they were showing the 3D logos, also I have seen cinema sites that used to have listings for 3D showings until very recently but now don't. As for an announcement I suspect that Fox's plan is not to make an announcement about it and just pretend that their original plan to have it in 3D never existed.

Its probably because of the song that they used.

Yeah, the music in the Tim Story films was a turn off for me and the music in this commercial is a big turn off.

I've heard this music 100 times before, but only when someone is trying to sell me something. If it ever came on a radio station I was listening to (highly unlikely), I wouldn't be able to change it fast enough.

I certainly hope they're not using music like this in the film (and up until now I had no reason to fear that).

It's a little baffling to me though that, with the distance they're trying to put between this film and the Story films, they would use music that's so reminiscent of one of the worst elements of those films (remember that hip, cool Pussycat Dolls song from the dance scene?:barf: )

Yeah, while I don't think anyone has come out and said: "This film will not be offered in 3D." It's as close to a certainty as anything could be.

Holy horrible hair piece Batman, how you could make a wig worse than Albas is beyond me but oh man. Kate Maras hair looks hideous.
And yeah, TV spots showing the same footage over and over don't fill me with hope that the rest of the movie will be good.

I almost have this feeling that after everything is done, Trank will let us in on the joke - that he's been intentionally trying to duplicate all the worst elements of the original films.

I mean all these bizarre similarities can't be simple coincidence, can they?

The 3D conversion was dropped. And according to rumors, its because they had to reroute those funds and more to the reshoots and last minute VFX revisions and additions.

Lol. You might be on to something. I'm still laughing at your post the other day on the inexplicable similarities between the two iterations.

The "c-suits" are growing on me. The springs in Reed's suit and everything are starting to make sense. If they are trying to contain their powers while they are learning how to use them, it would make sense for Reed's suit to allow him to stretch without breaking the fabric and Johnny's to cool out the heat through the vents. These aren't their superhero costumes yet, so i'm not worried.

Why are people saying Mara's wig is bad for the reshoots. Did I miss a link or something?
