You're right. The Star Wars footage still has my brain a bit fried.

2nd Warning TODAY!

Let's not get personal here people, it is a movie, it is not foreign policy decisions.

STOP with the calling out of other posters and stick to the discussion at hand.

Welp, if people needed any more doubt in this film, the cancellation of the 3D conversion sounds like FOX gave up.

I just think about it this way:
- It costs less for everyone here to go
- It pleases everyones eyes more to not be forced to see a converted 3D movie.

Everyone wins. :mnm:

Deathly Hallows part 1 also cancelled their 3D conversion. It's not entirely uncommon. That part of the budget just most likely went to the reshoots and new fx. I don't mind at all, converted 3D sucks.

don't bother me a damn bit

i never go to a theater for the sole purpose of seeing a movie in 3D...seems unnecessary

Next announcement will be that it's actually just coming straight-to-digital, so people can view it on their iPhones in "the real way it's supposed to be viewed in order to give fans the ultimate handheld cinematic experience!"

Except Fox, who's kissing millions of dollars in 3D ticket sales goodbye.

As for Deathly Hallows part 1, that was a special case that only occurred because they ran out of time to actually convert the first one. If it was for any other reason, part 2 wouldn't have been in 3D.

AND, they went ahead and completed the 3D for the Blu-ray release of part I.........

ANY chance they will spend the money to finish the 3D for this when it hits Blu-ray?

Oh wait, it was Trank's decision to not do 3D. :whatever:

Yep. There is no way to spin this as a positive. This is just another indication FOX has no hope for this movie and just another nail in the coffin.

Willie posted about HSX (Hollywood Stock Exchange) over in the box office thread, but stock in this film has actually dropped even more since he posted earlier. At this moment, it's down $2.48 a share today compared to yesterday. Spin all you want, but this film's investors don't seem to think scrapping the 3D is a great business move.

For Fox as a business it hurts not have that extra money from 3d. However as a movie goer, the films shot in 3d are pretty good and can enchance the movie going experience. You can count on your hands the movies with 3d that really blew you away.

Here is Josh Trank's thought on 3d conversion. “I want the viewing experience of ‘Fantastic Four’ to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie,” said Trank. In the article it mentions "Although post-conversions have improved since then, public enthusiasm has waned and audiences often find the immersive technology superfluous." http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/460919-fantastic-four-3d-conversion-cancelled-by-josh-trank

You do understand that it is a game, right? No actual investors are involved.

I don't think he does nor does he understand how stocks fluctuate drastically especially these.
