It does show a lack in confidence, though. I've said before that actual Fox investors can't be thrilled with the business decisions being made with this property. This does suggest that people have lost faith in the film being particularly profitable.

It's hard to believe what Trank is saying about the conversion, because Fox most certainly wouldn't let him decide a big thing like that. Even if it's true he should have lied something about budget or time lol.

It doesn't I worked in the finance markets after college for a little while. Those markets actually have numbers and figures that you can point to about how business is doing. Yet, that market is ruled almost entirely on emotion a threat of storm in the gulf could send oil prices to the moon. Or a rumor about a Ceo would send the stocks of his company spiraling down. Movie stocks are ruled on the same emotion and extremely more volatile because of it's lack of numbers, basically it's a blind bet.

They are all looking good. Really interesting to see how their panel will go today. Like five hours to go right?

. . . or really bad commercials with Kanye West music and no discernible reason to see the film could cause people to say: "This doesn't look good."

If everyone thought like you sure but Kanye has 13.2 million followers on twitter and sold more albums than he has followers. Because that music doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it won't appeal to someone else. Also think about this how many times does line of thinking actually align with the majority of other people.

I can't stand Kanye as a person or his music, but yeah, he does have a following.

Not sure that it is a "family friendly" following which is what the FF should be, but he does have a following.

But we're not talking about what you think or what I think. Our opinions are anecdotal and prejudiced. We're talking about what thousands of people on HSX think. Those people clearly aren't impressed by the commercials they're seeing.

Does that mean the film is bad? No. Does that mean the film will bomb? No. But it is a clear indication that the ads aren't impressing people.

It looked like Sue was wearing a blue costume in one of the trailers. If they do have them it'd probably be a better idea to show it at SDCC even though it ruins the surprise

I'm really eager to hear how the Comic Con crowd react to Trank, Kinberg and the cast.

This movie seems to have an affinity with food tie-ins. Here's one from Tyson/Walmart where you can get a ticket to see FF if you buy their products.

Also, i came across something cool that was done in France. Fox teamed up with FabClub in France and invited young geniuses and inventors to reveal their super powers during a FF "Summer Camp".Divided into 4 teams of 4, these young makers were responsible for thinking and constructing in record time an object that wpuld give them the 'powers' of the fantastic four. (More details and pics at the link provided)

They should do this Summer Camp thing in more countries.

That Summer Camp promotion is really unique. Good idea to sponsor such a thing

They've messed with the color a bit in post. We've discussed that in the past when some promotional images started having a noticeable blue tint. Thing also leans more orange than the brown we were seeing in early material. They messed with it due to complaints, in all likelihood. The same thing happened to Piccolo in Dragonball Evolution.

Well I think it's likely they'll get different costumes at the end as these were designed to help them control their powers at first and once they've mastered them won't need the "containment"

And it's fairly common to have a proto suit before the first suit (Batman Begins, Cap 1, Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man ect...)

So if they do have different suits during or at the end of the movie it might be a good idea to show that even though it's ruins the surprise

I'm sorry, but that is ridiculously juvenile move by Marvel. IF it is something they actually did....

Based on the soundtrack listing, we've already seen footage of the climax. They're in the containment suits. We're not getting decent costumes in the film proper. Maybe a last second stinger, but certainly not during the main portion of the film.

I don't know. Fox has done some juvenile things as well. Didn't Sony lend Fox one of their characters and Fox used them but wouldn't let Marvel borrow SS and Galactus? I'm just being honest I'd probably do the same thing. Plus the way this movie is shaking up with them having Marvel's logo bigger than their own, trying to deceive the public...............I can't blame Marvel at all.

Seems to be legit. Other game developers have also confirmed they can't use Fantastic Four characters, though I'm surprised already existing games were affected. Hopefully Marvel doesn't make Zen Ztudios start pulling their pinball tables that feature Fox held characters...

Agreed. A new low

I was thinking along the lines of at the very end after they win and are back at the institute they suit up in new duds. Hope that happens

What has Fox done to Marvel?

All they've done as far as I know is make movies with the IPs they paid for, which isn't an attack against Marvel like these things Marvel are doing blatantly are

I'm going to be honest, I really don't think it's Marvel. I think a lot of it is Disney. Disney is crazy like that. They tried to find loopholes in those contracts and couldn't so now they are squeezing these guys slowly but surely.

My expertise in charts is relegated to finance institions such as stock and commodities. What I can tell you from this chart is that it's a volatile market. In which the highs and low don't indicate much to me without some context. For example outside of the day indicated when commercials started no other day of importance is indicated. There is no chart of similar movies that were released around the same time. Looking at a chart in a vacuum is looking like at one popcorn seed pop. How can you tell if this seed is popping as fast as others.

Here is Josh Trank's thought on 3d conversion. “I want the viewing experience of ‘Fantastic Four’ to remain as pure as possible for the audience, which means in 2D, just as we shot the movie,” said Trank. In the article it mentions "Although post-conversions have improved since then, public enthusiasm has waned and audiences often find the immersive technology superfluous." http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/460919-fantastic-four-3d-conversion-cancelled-by-josh-trank

No, that's just the spin you gobbled up after Fox held it out on a spoon.

The truth is what Kinberg said during filming:

“We’re definitely imagining the story in 3D as we’re making it, and it has powers that are well-suited to telling the story in 3D—not just Reed, but you have somebody that is on fire, and that’s something that can be immersive and scary. The reason to use 3D in this Fantastic Four, I think, is to make the experience feel as immersive as possible, where you feel like you’re with the characters looking at themselves and looking at each other with these bizarre powers and feeling like they’re really interacting with you.”

They wanted 3D from the beginning, Fox just isn't willing to waste any more on an already over budget film only made to retain character rights.

The word on the street is that it's Ike Perlmutter that's leading the charge on this one, though he is a major Disney stockholder via the big purchase. (Rumors have flown around for some time that he may take a larger role in Disney down the line, too)
