:yay:

I think you are reading too much into things Kelly. No offence intended of course.

I'm not reading into anything. I watched over 20 different panels, I followed F4 along with 2 other projects very closely this weekend. You can't "read into" a poor showing on a panel when you have 19 others to compare it to.

What I think is happening is people are having tunnel vision with the F4, and if you don't take the blinders off and do some comparing then you have no idea just how dismal their showing was.

And no offense taken...

Fantstic Four is starting to remind me of Tomorrowland and Terminator Genesis in that it seems so difficult for it to get huge buzz going.

No! You're reading into it Kelly! From my point of view the panel was more successful than the BvS one! President Obama showed up and bowed before Josh Trank! Stan Lee called him "the greatest filmmaker of all time!" People were weeping with joy in the crowd! The cast was ecstatic about the film! The trailer blew everyone away! It was the most successful panel of all time! Of all timeeeee!!!

I can tell you...Kelly is heartbroken about this. She wanted things to go well at the con....but it didn't.

Just on the SHH....all the other comic films that attended Comic Con went through several 40 page threads each on the subject (the thread in the BvS broke thread manager, it actually made it create 2 new threads at the same time labeled Part 48 because it was having trouble keeping up with the traffic)....the FF forums went through about 3 pages.

I watched all the panels.....there was a palpable difference between the others and the FF panel. It was simply bland.

I was all over the Hype over the weekend keeping up with the comic con news......

Suicide Squad news was released.....fans were ecstatic, people went wild.....
BvS news was released......fans were ecstatic, people went wild.....
XMen news was released.....fans were ecstatic, people went wild.....
Deadpool news was released.....fans were ecstatic, people went wild.....
Fantastic Four news was released.......fans went meh, people yawned......

Yes, as I said, it was the also-ran of the weekend. It's just mind boggling to me. Pre MCU, if you were to rank the Marvel properties FF would had to have been in the top 5. I know it's slipped quite a bit with the increased popularity of the MCU properties, but over the long hall these are some of Marvel's top characters. Heck it was the FF that launched the so-called "Marvel Age" of comics and brought back an enthusiasm to superhero comic books, when the industry were really moving away from Superheros and more towards things like Archie and western comics.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

Comic Con wouldn't be an issue if Fantastic Four actually had huge buzz in the real world but it doesn't. Will it gain buzz as it gets closer to release? I don't know, the studio seems to not have faith in the film so I doubt it.

I see what you mean. I think its safe to say BvS broke the internet.

Apparently Rabbit poop is very tasty, because the dogs at the dog park love it.

Everything wrong with this film can be summed up in Josh Trank's original statment: "I thought that the Fantastic Four would be such a great opportunity to...as a new film to explore a side of those characters that I have never seen before, which is the more tragic origin....that you can kind of see in the first year; the Stan Lee and Jack Kirby Fantastic Four, where it's more of like a monster tale. It's more of a transformation."

He said this after he admitted his knowledge of the characters was from the Marvel Encyclopedia and that he never bought comics, because he spend all his money at Blockbuster Video.

People also can refuse to see what they don't want to see.

Their panel was one of the worst panels I've seen in the 11 years I've been following SDCC. Every site that was doing a live blog even realized it. I was following 4 different blogs that night.

If you watch all of the panels, the comparison is not subjective at all. It is reality...and to not see the enormous differences is simply being blind.

I was sooooo hoping that they were going to quell a lot of the questions during their panel, but it didn't come anywhere near doing that.

indeed, NONE absolutely NONE of the entertainment news sources i follow on facebook (and i follow alot) are talking about the F4 panels, it's all DC, Deadpool and X-men... even GAMBIT and Wolverine.. films that haven't even begun to film.... are getting more press

I actually think both of those had more buzz than FF. I heard people mention both those films in conversation prior to release. Outside of this forum, I haven't heard a single mention of FF.

I think this is going to be one of those films for which, when Amazon sends out an e-mail saying the Blu-Ray is available, people will be saying: "Wait, did that come out already?"
