Plus it doesn't help when you hire Mark Millar to be David Goyer. No matter how bad this film may be or how far from the source they get, hiring Millar was the dumbest thing Fox could have done.

No arguments on that point.

No one's scared of a bad movie you silly little troll.

Not being a troll

They're bummed out that, so far, this movie looks bad.

Never didn't understand that. Was trying to put it into different perspective.

This is a place where people discuss things. In this case, the Fantastic Four movie that is being filmed.

Which is why I am discussing with people, I just happen to disagree with them.

So saying "it's just a movie" is pointless and condescending. If you don't care to discuss things about this movie or any movie as they come out, go away.

I do care to and am discussing. I'm not trying condescend. I'm trying to add a perspective. The statements that it isn't accurate to the comic are valid and I agree with them, I just don't see why that automatically makes it a bad movie especially with the amount of times fans (including myself) have eaten crow in the past. Sorry you don't like my side of things, doesn't make me a troll.

What's wrong with Miles Teller? He's one of the most promising actors working today. He was excellent in Rabbit Hole and The Spectacular Now and his most recent movie won best picture at Sundance.

That doesn't make him right for Mr. Fantastic.

Does Marvel have to wait that long though? Can't they just take an attitude of "here's how to do the FF properly - the Marvel way"?

If two people have to perform the same song and the first one messes it up badly and makes a pig's ear of it, the 2nd performer who might be much better doesn't need to shy away. In fact, they can go in confident that it will just show up the terrible rendition by the first even more.

I'd say it all depends if this is a bad film, of how bad it is. Most people aren't as open minded. Of coarse, we would understand that this is back in Marvel's hands, if it indeed does revert back, but most people will think, "Oh god, the last one was terrible. No thanks." I think the smart move would be to stick this franchise in your back pocket, if you was Marvel, for at least a decade. And I would hate that wait, trust me.

Yes, saying "it's just a movie!" in a forum discussing details about movies and the whole "I'm not scared of a bad movie" thing definitely isn't trolling. Okay.

Never didn't understand that. Was trying to put it into different perspective.

A perspective that everyone already understands. Yes the comics still exist, yes a bad movie isn't the end of the world.

Thanks. We got it.

It doesn't make it a bad movie. It makes it a bad Doom design. All the other elements combined, from poor casting to strange behind the scenes activity to actors not understanding relationship between the characters they're playing to lack of any marketing at all etc, make it a potentially bad movie.

I have a question for everyone who doesn't like this production and don't plan to watch it in theatres:

Will you still come and post in here at the time of the film's release even if there are major spoilers, even if you don't plan to see this movie at all? Or would some of you wait until it comes out on DVD/BR, or on TV and refrain from posting here for a few months/ years? Or alternatively, will you do what MBJ predicted and still go see it anyway, just so you can be in the loop (thereby giving validation to his comment)?

For me, I think I will just come in and still post, spoilers be damned. I'm not watching this on the big screen.

I still haven't seen the apparently terrible TMNT movie. Not paying for that and, if this movie looks as bad then as it does now, won't pay for this.

Still like discussing things as they come out though, positive or negative.

Normally I avoid spoilers like the plague but since I don't care about seeing this film I wouldn't care about spoilers in this instance. It's like someone spoiling the end to Manos: The Hands of Fate.

I won't be going to the theater to see it.

I will probably have to post in here when the movie comes out....I appear in practicaly all forums of new movies even if I haven't seen them because I am breaking up fights and such.

I will wait to see it until it either comes out on cable or a low priced used DVD copy is available (I own copies of all comic related movies...even ones I detest)...after I watch it for myself I will post somewhere what I feel about it. I try to see most comic related films at the theater. There have been several the last few years that I did not like the look of before they came out, and only watched them many months after everyone else had.

You seem to be misinerpreting what I mean by "It's just a movie." I just mean that it is so far removed from Fantastic Four right now, that it doesn't matter to me anymore if its close to the source, just that it's mildly entertaining. Depending on what the trailers look like, I might see it in theaters. There's too little for me to make that decision yet. And while I will be judging it by how it stacks against the comic, I will also judge it on its own merits ("It's just a movie"). I feel like I have said more than once, "It's not really like the comics, but it's still pretty entertaining." And I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with movies that illicit that response

I'm just speaking my mind, I think that makes me definitively not a troll.

I honestly think people are scared of a bad movie because every time they hear just one thing, let alone all the things we have heard from FF, it's "enough is enough"

A perspective that everyone already understands. Yes the comics still exist, yes a bad movie isn't the end of the world.

Could have fooled me

I like the Doom design, that's how this all started. It's not a good adaptation, it's not a definitive look of Dr. Doom. If it was in the comics, I would dogpile on it with the rest of you. But for a movie villain on a movie that I have now compartmentalized away from the source , I think its cool looking. Like a gaunt Prometheus engineer or the creature from The Keep. Has like a Dracula feel, not like the monster or the romantic villain version of Dracula, but the old, emaciated version at the beginning of Dracula, like the withered creature on the Demeter version. Like Doom is newly scarred and he's all bandaged up. It's really creepy

I have no intention of paying a penny to see this (ill advised challenge accepted Mr Jordan :cwink:) so I have zero problem looking in here when the movie comes out, and will have no problem reading any spoilers.

When I do see it it will be when it hits the cable services I'm already paying for.

I for one can't wait to see it.

It'll either turn out okay or hilariously awful.

That's supposed to be Doctor Doom? I really, really hope that costume is unfinished. There seriously need to be some CGI added to his costume to get it to look even halfway decent. Doom is meant to be armored, not look like a rotting corpse. If this is in the finished trailer, I will officially lose all interest.

Okay, first of all, that obviously isn't a suit with CGI markers on it, nor is it part of a costume being worn to provide lighting guidelines to digital artists (like that ultron set photo with the guy in street clothes and an Ultron mask and chest.)

This actor is in a full-body costume, with no markers on it for future CGI work. He looks a lot like the previous movies' crappy Doom, with his skin turning to metal... only his clothing seems to have done so as well. Frankly, it looks like ass. This is ********!:whatever:

I don't really decide on whether i see movies or not based on blurry set images so ehh. The stuff seen so far is not great, but a really good trailer could change everything.

The hood is hilarious... almost as bad as the mask itself.
Is Doom supposed to be a woman in this reboot? He seems very feminine....

The fact is that Johnny shouldn't even be able to burn Doom's costume unless he's just wrapped up in wet tobacco leaves or something. If he were wearing armour, then he should be protected. Otherwise Johnny could always have pulled that trick many times in the comic and Doom's armour would have been melted or he would've been defeated that way.

And why is his hood unaffected by Johnny's fire if his costume is burnt? Unless maybe it is affected in that it just puffed up his hood and made it look like a trash bag. Because fire has that effect. :whatever:

It's funny how hard some people are trying to defend this 'Dr Doom'. These negative comments coming from me and other posters are out of fear and NOT because it looks like one of the greatest Marvel villains (and greatest Marvel teams) of all time is about to mishandled (edit: ****ed up) for the THIRD time in a row. Doom is my favorite Marvel villain. You know they ****ed up when the Doom from the Tim Story FF films looks better than this.

Right??? I have new appreciation for Tim's Doom now. LOL

They like it because it looks creepy and gross.

You know, qualities that Doom is totally known for.

The colossus/electro powers were crap and the suit/clothes they put him in for the first one were crap but Story's Doom at least got the mask & hood right. In the 2nd they did design a cool looking armor (see below) but only really used the chest piece from it and changed the mask a bit:

This thing though....has nothing right.

I'm pretty sure they don't really care what comic fans think about this movie.... :/

:woot: People really be reading into my "I'm not scared of bad movies" so let me elaborate. When I see a comic movie that doesn't look like the comics, I think "Oh well" and pick up the comic. Everyone else is saying "OMG, how can they do this to me? Don't they know how long I have been reading?" and I don't understand what people are reacting to. It's not the Fantastic Four. Even if it was good, it's not the Fantastic Four. The book is available, the stories aren't changing, this movie might be bad, definitely not accurate. I just don't understand what it is about bad movies that crawl up people's backs. People are so angry they saved $12

... it's not that blurry hun . Unless you need glasses?

For me...Fantastic Four was my favorite comic growing up. So, it's emotional investment...but also...the source material is there, it can be translated to film fairly easily (Marvel proves that) and so it's just a HUGE disappointment to see so much potential wasted by a studio that seems completely clueless on how to translate the material.

I find it funny that this Doom resembles a Dark elf from thor 2, and the thing resembles the kronan that was in thor 2.

We are all fans here man. If you're gonna try and adapt something, at least pay homage or try to respect the source material. I very well know that comics and movies are two different things. There's a reason why you're seeing all this negativity for this film. They dont give a **** about what they're adapting which is ******** to say the least. You like it? That's fine, let some of us express our thoughts. Who is your favorite comic book character(s)?
